Chapter 1

Penulis: Asteria
I left the estate without a single backward glance.

Finn watched my actions with amused interest, making no move to stop me or chase after me.

As I walked out, I could still hear the wild, loud laughter of his elite inner circle from inside.

"Look at her, walking off like she's too good for all of us. So funny!"

"What's the new game this time? I can't wait to see how it turns out."

"But Alpha, you sure you're just gonna let her walk out like that? She looks pretty heated this time."

"Come on, isn't she always like this? All high and mighty now, but it won't be long before she can't stand being without Finn. She's crazy about him."

Those words hit the exact spot Finn wanted. He let out a lazy chuckle and nodded with satisfaction, his voice dripping with supreme confidence.

"Exactly. Without my scent nearby, her wolf won't even settle down enough to sleep."

That very night, Finn threw a party where he and his inner circle made bets on how many days I could hold out before coming back to beg for his favor.

Amid all the chatter, Finn boasted that if I managed to last even three days out there on my own, he would announce in front of everyone that he was wrong, and buy me anything I wanted, no matter the cost.

Meanwhile, Stella couldn't wait to start her life as the Luna. Clutching the housekeeper's keys in her hand, she excitedly struck poses, snapped a bunch of photos, and posted them online with the caption: [I will do my best to fulfill my duties as Luna for the time being. Love you guys~]

The comment section blew up immediately.

[What happened?! Did you win the Alpha's heart?!]

[Bow down, everyone! Our pack's new Luna has arrived!]

[You really look like you belong at the Alpha's side now!]

Someone tagged Finn: [Now that the new Luna is stepping up, isn't it time to hand over everything the last Luna left behind, like the dresses?]

Finn quickly dropped his reply in the comments.

[Since Stella is now Luna, everything here is naturally under her control.]

When I saw that message, I was staying alone in the tiny, cramped wooden cabin that sat at the very edge of the SnowMoon Pack's territory. The furniture was covered in a thick layer of dust, cold ashes were piled inside the hearth, and cobwebs hung from the corners. It took quite a bit of effort for me to scrub it clean.

I pushed open the window, letting the icy night wind rush in, carrying the scent of pine. The quiet here felt comforting. No one here would announce to my face that my place as Luna was being handed to another she-wolf.

I never thought I would have to step foot in it again.

When I was still a little orphan, I wandered here and settled down. Years later, it was also here that I ended up caring for an unconscious Finn, who had been injured during a secret trip. Because of his parents' failed bond, he refused to trust in genuine love, and had never seen someone willing to care for him without knowing who he was. Over time, feelings grew between us.

Everything unfolded as naturally as a fairy tale. Our life together was blissfully sweet. It seemed he had finally stepped out from the shadow of his father's romantic turmoil.

Until our very first bonding anniversary, when I came home and saw Stella wearing my nightgown.

I had cried and questioned Finn, asking why he allowed her to humiliate me like that. He pulled me into his arms, kissing my forehead over and over while using his scent to soothe my restless wolf.

He said he just wanted to see how much I truly cared about him.

He said I was his only recognized mate, and no other she-wolf could ever replace me.

Now, Stella was standing in my walk-in closet, tossing my formal gowns onto the bed as she pleased.

Those dresses had been custom-tailored for me by Finn's personal designers to represent the dignity of the Luna. Yet Stella draped them over herself like war trophies, letting the young wolves around her judge every piece.

Finally, she slipped into the silk gown I wore at our bonding ceremony and ran barefoot up to Finn.

"Finn, how do you think this one looks?"

Finn raised his eyes, his gaze lingering on her for a moment.

"Not bad. Honestly, it looks better on you than it does on her."

The room erupted into laughter again.

"Why hasn't Eloise shown up yet? Usually she would have lost it by now," someone asked.

Stella put on a pouting, victimized look as tears welled up in her eyes, "I only wanted to help her realize how unbreakable their bond really is. I didn't expect her to be so emotional, storming off over the smallest thing."

Finn pulled out a tissue and handed it to her, "Don't sweat it. You were just trying to be helpful. Once she comes to her senses, she'll come apologize to you."

Finn recorded all of it and sent the video to me, along with a text message.

[Still throwing a fit? Don't forget, you're my mate. No matter where you run, your wolf will always crave my scent. Get back here tomorrow, and learn to get along with Stella.]

I did need to go back, to properly pack up the rest of my belongings, and to find an opportunity to sever our bond once and for all.

The fairy tale was over.

The medical center prepared for expansion, establishing long-term collaborations with several neighboring packs. I was so busy every day that I barely had time to rest, yet I had never felt so fulfilled.Every action I took paved the way for the life I desired, driven entirely by my own heart. Two years later, supported by Jenny and a group of like-minded healers, I established my own professional medical team. We set up permanent medical outposts across several remote territories and provided systematic training for any wolf wishing to become a healer. On the day the medical team was officially founded, we hosted a grand celebration. Almost every patient I had ever helped attended, gathering to offer their sincere congratulations, bringing tears to my eyes.Jenny walked over to my side holding two glasses of wine. "Congratulations, Eloise. You've finally achieved what you always wanted to do!"I took the glass and clinked it gently against hers. "Thanks to all of you.""To new beginni

Finn froze as if struck full force across the face."There won't be a next time!" He frantically grabbed my hand, panic flooding his eyes. "I've already made Stella leave the estate! There won't be any more games, and no one will ever place bets on you again. I will give you back your position as Luna, as long as we bond again!""I no longer need the position of Luna," I said. "When I was with the SnowMoon Pack, I thought that if I did well enough, you would finally see me. Now I realize I don't need to live for anyone else's expectations. I can do what I want to do. I have a job I love, companions who respect me, and goals I want to achieve. I am living very well right now."I paused before adding, "As for you, I no longer need you either."Finn's eyes reddened instantly. "Eloise..."I checked the time."I have patients to attend to. You should leave."Rain had begun to fall outside.Without me preparing rain gear for him as I used to, he stood alone in the downpour, watching me hold

Finn stood frozen on the spot. That meant while he was assuming she was merely throwing a tantrum, she had already been preparing to travel to a completely new place and start a life without him."How... how is she doing?""She is highly respected there, Alpha. Word is she was appointed directly as a senior healer, and everyone at the care center likes her very much."Those words struck like a blade, piercing straight into Finn's heart. In his subconscious, he had believed that leaving him meant Eloise would lose everything familiar, feeling helpless in an unfamiliar territory until she finally realized the SnowMoon Pack was her true home.Yet the reality was the exact opposite. Losing the title of Luna hadn't stripped her of anything; instead, her career was flourishing while his own life had devolved into utter chaos.Finn finally decided to travel to the SilverCedar Pack.He didn't demand an official meeting using his status as Alpha, choosing instead to ride alone across the mounta

With a single phone call, Finn summoned every friend who had ever taken part in those bets back to the estate. They walked into the study with their usual easy smiles hanging on their faces."So, how long is Eloise planning to stay out this time?""My bet is she won't last a month. After living in the SnowMoon Pack for so many years, how could she bear to leave you?"Finn suddenly slammed his phone violently right at them."Who gave you permission to place bets on my mate?!"The room instantly fell dead silent. After a long pause, someone finally ventured in a small voice:"Finn... wasn't this your own idea in the first place?""Yeah. You were the one who said you wanted to see how much she cared about you. You had us record every incident so you could look back on them later. Stella just secretly posted them online."Finn's breath hitched, rendering him completely speechless. They weren't wrong. Every single act of humiliation, every cold rejection, and every ounce of pain Eloise had

As the divine power gently brushed against the mate mark on my neck, a sharp, searing pain instantly pierced through my entire body. I subconsciously gritted my teeth. On the other side, Finn clearly felt the agony as well. The mate contract connecting us was unravelling, and the scents that had been linked together were being peeled away piece by piece from the depths of our wolves. In a flurry of panic, he reached out to grab me, but I stepped aside."Don't touch me."He froze on the spot. The priest continued chanting the ancient prayers. I felt a sudden lightness at my neck, as if a string had finally snapped.I could no longer feel Finn's emotions, nor could I hear that voice that had once been intimately bound to my wolf. Our mate bond was broken."From this moment forth, Eloise Aldridge is no longer the bonded mate of Finn Thornweald, nor does she carry the duties of the Luna of the SnowMoon Pack," the priest announced.I let out a long breath, a tearful smile breaking across my

Finn's expression changed instantly. He stared fixedly at me. "Eloise... are you really going to be this ruthless?""Finn, I'll see you there in a few days."Ignoring his words, I turned and walked toward the exit.He was still convinced that I was merely waiting for him to stay his hand. Perhaps in his imagination, I would soon prove unable to keep up the act, crying and screaming as I voluntarily bowed my head to him.Yet when the heavy doors shut behind me, I never looked back.I heard his bitter, huffing voice from inside: "Fine! Set up the ceremony! The sooner, the better!"The priest calculated the timing, setting the dissolution ceremony two weeks out.Finn's friends still treated the entire affair like a farce, believing I was simply throwing a tantrum and being ungrateful. Some advised Finn to send me some fine jewelry and say a few soft words so I could save face and return.Yet Finn refused to bow his head first."She won't bring herself to leave me. As long as the mate bond
