I didn’t stop shouting at them to get everyone’s undivided attention, hoping someone, or at least one of these old and fat police officers, would understand basic English.

To no avail, I ended up exhausting my voice even after putting in much effort. All the officers who passed the holding cell simply responded to me with a contemptuous look from head to toe.

As if they were more bothered than I am.

The commotion subsided when a new batch of officers arrived in the precinct. One of the newly arrived officers was talking to those who laughed at me.

I understood nothing from their conversation apart from hearing someone’s name - Christoph Miller, making my eyes roll in their direction with my sense of hearing heightened.

“Be grateful, a concerned citizen just saved your ass from this hell of a place, Mr. de Guzman,” says the officer who has just arrived.

He then walked in my direction and unlocked the gate before he added, “You’re a free man now. Next time, you'd better sleep in a room

Deep inside me, I somehow felt guilty for hitting Mr. Allen harder than he could imagine. I glanced at him from the mirror above him to check the cut on his lower lip.Feeling down and helpless, I lashed out everything on him earlier. I fucking blamed him for ruining my life and for losing everything in an instant.Who could have thought this bastard knows how to surprise me, huh? Perhaps I was not the only one who felt guilty for what happened.Regardless, it won’t change the fact that my anger and hatred toward him have already reached their peak. I couldn’t find any good reason to forgive him or make amends. The length of my disappointment toward him was as far as heaven is from earth. Looking at his face, or even thinking about his name, is already a reminder for me of how I lost everything that I’ve built my entire life.Because he doesn’t know how to shut his mouth for a second. And I won’t apologize to him. Never. Not even in my next life.“How did you know I was in the precinc

I continued searching. My legs were a relentless blur against the asphalt, each step pounding with increasingly desperate urgency. The sun blazed mercilessly overhead, its rays turning my skin into a hot, sticky barrier that trapped the sweat pouring down my face and neck.My breaths came in ragged gasps, each inhale felt like it was burning my chest, but the thought of finding Charlie kept my mind laser-focused, urging me to push forward despite the exhaustion threatening to overwhelm me.My muscles ached, a dull, persistent throb gnawing at my limbs with every stride. My vision blurred at the edges, spots dancing across my sight, yet I kept going, driven by the excitement to find him.Sweat soaked through my shirt, sticking it to my skin, and I could feel the salt sting in my eyes, but then again, I refused to wipe it away, too consumed in finding him.I’m afraid that if I wipe the sweat or blink my eyes, I might lose him. Losing him at this crucial moment gripped my chest like an i

“I’m gay. Or should I describe myself as bisexual? Anything about having feelings for both genders? That’s me.” Wasting time was no longer an option for me.Therefore, the moment Mr. Alvarez nodded his head, I went straight to the point. A part of me regretted the confession, but I have to tell someone the truth.Someone professional.Someone who can answer my questions. After all, it’s their job to help people like me, even if I know it won’t help me that much.Dr. Alvarez heaved a sigh before he crossed his arms as he locked his unreadable eyes on me. “Since when did you find out that you’re like that?” he started asking.“Since I was sixteen.” I honestly replied. “It happened when I met this guy, named Christoph Miller.”“What? Since when? Why didn’t you tell me about that, boss? Is he the main reason you transferred schools?”Dr. Alvarez and I turned our furious faces toward Mr. Allen. I almost forgot Mr. Allen has been standing behind me since we started the session. He already k

After the call ended, I tapped into my inbox to check if I still had unread and unreplied messages left. There were a few, but I’m too lazy to open them, especially when they come from unimportant people. I expected to receive a few from Charlie.Messages like begging me to get back to him or start anew. The kind of messages that tell me that he missed me already. That he missed those days we spent together.Unfortunately, seeing my inbox with nothing from him only put more pain in my aching heart. It became too unbearable. The hole in my heart became bigger and deeper.Everything was my fault. I broke up with him because of my worries, fears, and greed. He did not even stop me from boarding the plane, like those couples I’ve seen in movies.Perhaps Charlie had already moved on.Perhaps he has already found a new one.Or maybe, he didn’t love me, to begin with.“Fuck you, Charlie.! I cursed at the top of my head. Then I tapped into our previous conversation without even realizing it.

Of course, hearing my name would be a huge insult to them and their company. As I always said and claimed before. My marriage to Clarisse has been printed, not just in the newspapers, billboards, or articles, but was featured on all social media platforms. My name has been a hot topic since then, proving that the Guzman's are indestructible. I even saw three billboards out there before reaching this building, as a matter of fact. Not recognizing me would be a huge insult to my family.Call me arrogant or boastful to the deepest part of my bones, but that's one for a fact about us. Our family has been known everywhere in the world."With all due respect, Mr. de Guzman, we are telling you the truth. Mr. Miller remains a huge mystery to us. Perhaps you can ask the rest of the employees in this hotel to prove us wrong."I only wanted to meet and greet Christoph, to have a simple reunion with him, but it appears this man was out of reach even by someone as wealthy and powerful as I.
