Chapter 8: There's No Way for You to Learn It Now

Author: Tuobayanqing
Beside her, Nelson FitzGerald slightly turned his neck, gazing at her radiant, smiling face. He found this woman's personality to be incredibly unique. However, thinking about the reputation of her master, the renowned and eccentric Divine Doctor Bevis Jeremiah, it would have been more unusual if she had turned out to be a docile and well-behaved disciple.

Because of his grandfather's illness, he had also investigated Divine Doctor Bevis Jeremiah and seen his pictures. Bevis Jeremiah was not bad-looking; with a bit of grooming, he could even be considered handsome, especially in his youth.

"What's wrong with my reputation?" came another roar from the other end.

Feng Wuan raised her delicately arched eyebrows. "I don't think there's anything wrong with your reputation. The name 'Pigeon King' sounds quite nice, actually."

"Pfft!" Peter Sinclair, who was driving, couldn't help but burst into laughter.

Nelson FitzGerald's lips curled slightly, almost imperceptibly, before quickly returning to normal.

Bevis Jeremiah, angered by her words, ground his teeth and roared, "Let's not talk about the reputation anymore. Let's talk about looks. Is it really necessary for a doctor to be good-looking to charge more?"

"For others, maybe not, but for me, it is. A doctor with a pleasant appearance can make patients feel better, which in turn improves their mood. A better mood leads to a faster recovery. This is a special healing technique that you can't learn," Feng Wuan said.

Bevis Jeremiah was so infuriated by her shameless words that he ground his teeth. While he might not be the most attractive, he certainly wasn't ugly. But as a doctor, what mattered most was medical skill, and he believed he charged high enough fees for his expertise. Yet, his apprentice seemed even more ruthless, starting with a ten million fee, clearly targeting wealthy clients.

Seeing no response, Feng Wuan asked tentatively, "Hey, old man, are you still alive?"

A faint smile flickered in Nelson FitzGerald's eyes, though he didn't turn to look at her.

"Just barely hanging on," came the roar from the other end.

"As long as you have a breath left, you’ll bounce back," Feng Wuan continued, not holding back.

She usually wasn't this harsh, but today she was still fuming over the ten billion bill he had thrown at her. Since she couldn't see him in person, she had to vent her anger through words.

Bevis Jeremiah, thoroughly annoyed, shouted, "Get lost!"

The line then went dead with a beep.

Feng Wuan felt quite pleased, raising her phone to her face and giving it the most beautiful smile. But after three seconds, her expression quickly returned to its usual blankness.

Nelson FitzGerald didn't turn to look at her, but he saw all her expressions in the rearview mirror. Initially, he thought she was an elegant and refined woman. During her confrontation with Melissa Arabella, he saw her as a strong and unyielding person. Now, listening to her conversation with Divine Doctor Bevis Jeremiah, he had to change his opinion again.

This woman was a complex individual, embodying multiple personalities. Though seemingly contradictory, she handled them with ease, without any sense of discord or complexity.

After she put away her phone, Nelson FitzGerald spoke up, "Miss Feng, I have a patient to introduce to you. Will you take the case?"

"Sure," she replied.

Given the Chu family's status, they would have already sought out a famous doctor for a common ailment. This must be a difficult case. She asked casually, "What's the condition?"

"A car accident injured the head. The hospital diagnosed that if the patient doesn't wake up within three months, they will become a vegetative state. It's been over a month, and there are still no signs of waking up."

Feng Wuan turned slightly to look at him. "Didn't you try to contact my master before?"

"We did, but Divine Doctor Bevis Jeremiah's whereabouts are unpredictable, and we couldn't reach him. This time, the Chu family managed to contact him, and we planned to ask him to examine the patient after the treatment."

Divine Doctor Bevis Jeremiah was highly skilled, but his location was a mystery. He only provided an email address, and anyone wishing to consult him had to send an email first. Whether he would agree to see the patient depended entirely on his mood.

"I’ll go check it out first."

Feng Wuan's skills were already recognized by her master, but she never made absolute promises to any patient. "I'm not available for the next two days. I won't be able to see the patient."

"Alright, how about the day after tomorrow morning?"

"That works. Don't come too early. I don't want to be disturbed while I'm sleeping. After 10 AM would be best."

Feng Wuan didn't have any specific plans in Y City. She just wanted to sleep for a couple of days at the hotel.

"Fine, I’ll pick you up at the Four Seasons Peninsula at 10:30 AM the day after tomorrow," Nelson FitzGerald confirmed.

When the car stopped in front of the modern and luxurious hotel, Feng Wuan put on her sunglasses, thanked him, and got out of the car, walking straight into the hotel lobby without looking back.

Watching her leave, Nelson FitzGerald recalled the woman from last night. The night had been dark, and she was dressed in black, making it hard to see clearly, but he had a strong feeling that there was a striking resemblance between the two.

After her tall figure disappeared, Nelson FitzGerald finally looked away, giving a brief order, "Let's go."

Peter Sinclair immediately started the car and asked, "Mr. Chu, should we investigate this woman named Feng Wuan?"

"No need."

Though curious about her background, Nelson FitzGerald wouldn't pry. Besides, his intuition told him she was far from simple, and there was something about her that reminded him of the woman from last night. For now, it was best to keep a low profile.

"Do we have any news on last night's incident?" Nelson FitzGerald asked, his voice deep.

"Last night, a murder occurred at the Ogar Club. Two people in a business meeting in a private room, one died and the other was injured. The deceased was Cold Thorn, a drug lord long wanted by the police. The injured was Yuan Qi, the leader of an underground force in Y City. According to reliable sources, the attacker wore a mask and was extremely agile. Both sides are investigating and pursuing the killer, and they have confirmed that the killer is likely from the Dark Night Alliance."

After returning home last night, Nelson FitzGerald had drawn a sketch of the woman's mask and tried to find information, but to no avail.

Seeing him lost in thought, Peter Sinclair asked, "Mr. Chu, should we continue the investigation?"

"Follow up and report any developments."

"Got it," Peter Sinclair nodded.

Nelson FitzGerald's mind was filled with two faces: the woman from last night and Feng Wuan. Their chins were similar, but he couldn't be sure about their lips. It had been too dark in the car, and the female assassin had worn dark lipstick, making it hard to see. He had tried to get close to Feng Wuan to confirm her scent, but she had been wearing perfume, masking any natural smell.

Back in her room, Feng Wuan tossed her medical kit onto the sofa, changed into pajamas, and after a quick wash, fell asleep.

For the past two years, she had been working abroad, taking on tasks to earn money for her spendthrift master. She hadn't kept a detailed account, but she knew she had transferred over two billion to him. Despite the large sum, she had no idea what he spent it on.

This morning, receiving the ten-billion debt notice on the plane had sent her blood pressure soaring. It took her at least half an hour to calm down.

Her master was called Bevis Jeremiah, but that was just his public name. His real name was Feng Yang. He had once seriously instructed her never to reveal his true identity. As a young girl, she didn't understand, but she obeyed, keeping his real name a secret.

Now, as an adult, she had a vague idea why he kept his true identity hidden. They used to live in a remote forest, rarely venturing out. She guessed he did this to protect himself. Living with him for so many years, she knew his true character. The rumors about him were just smoke and mirrors, meant to confuse someone, though she didn't know who.
