Margot's POV

" I changed my mind. I do not want to wait that long," Sam looked at me coldly. His eyes were like that since the moment I entered the office—the eyes of a stranger.

" I said I needed time," My reply was equally icy. " Can't you wait a little longer?"

He kept calling and texting, and I could no longer ignore it. I knew he would not give up until he would get what he wanted.

" For what? Do you think that anything will change my mind? Then I will spare you the effort. There is nothing to think about. Just transfer your shares to me."

" Is it everything you can think about? Do you want to throw away all those years?" I looked at the man before me, hoping to find anything that resembled Sam I knew, but I found nothing.

" I am surprised that you dared to say that. You were the one to throw away what we built together when you spread your legs for another man," Sam replied, his voice coated with disgust.

I gasped, stunned by his words. It was a language I had never heard fro

Third-party POV " God damn it," I yelled, forcefully hitting my desk and making Nicole flinch in fear. " Are you sure about that?" " Positive," she replied, still shaking. " She is going to sell her projects to whoever pays the most." I plopped onto my chair, unable to stay still. This was impossible. I would not expect Margot to do it. She seemed attached to her work, almost treating those projects like her children. There were times when I teased her about that mercilessly. And now, she was willing to get rid of them like that. " Did she say when?" I looked at Nicole, who took a step back, frightened by my cold stare. "Nnno," Nicole mumbled, avoiding my eyes. " Look at me. There is something you are not telling me. Whatever it is, I am not going to be mad at you," I promised, but Nicole was still hesitating. " Speak up!" I raised my voice as my patience was wearing thin. " She seemed desperate," Nicole blurted out. " I think she is going to do it soon." Th

  • One Night Stand with the Enemy   Chapter thirty two

Margot's POV I stared at Nathan, wondering if I had heard him right. I was expecting different things, but not such a straight-up refusal. " What?" I managed to ask, my voice weak. Nathan glanced at me, his face straight. " I do not want your projects," he repeated slowly as if I had not understood the first time. Now, anger slowly bloomed in my chest. I was ready to sacrifice my hard work, and he did not want it. " Why? Is my work not good enough?" I glared at him, humiliated. " That is not what I said," Nathan shook his head, but I was already turned on. " I think that is precisely what you said. You think my ideas are not brilliant enough to pay attention to them? Well, not everyone is a fraking genius like you. But I worked my ass off to get them done." At this moment, anger and embarrassment were boiling inside me. Nathan kept watching me silently, while I wondered if hitting his face would be a good idea. " Are you done?" Nathan finally asked, and some

  • One Night Stand with the Enemy   Chapter thirty one

Margot's POV' Was it a good idea? Maybe I should not be doing this?' I kept questioning myself with every step I took. A couple of times, I tried to get back and think about something, but instead, I kept pushing myself to move forward. I have spent a sleepless night analysing everything. Nicole's visit only showed me I had not much time left. I did not believe a single word she said, except that Sam used her as well. But unlike me, she would let him use her over and over again. Nicole always had a soft spot for Sam, and I knew she would happily take my place at the right opportunity. Now, she could have all of that, for what I cared. I was sure Nicole would use everything I said yesterday, and I let her know about my plans. I could almost imagine Sam's face when he would find out, and I found it hilarious. But now, I was having my doubts. When Sam finds out about my plan, it will push him to take some drastic actions. I could not predict what, but for sure, they would not be suita

Nathan's POV " Uncle Nate," I had heard Brad's voice right before he crushed into me. " Wow, calm down, champ. You are going to break my bones," I laughed and crouched to hug my nephew properly. His face was beaming with joy. " Happy birthday." " I knew you would come," Brad squealed as I turned around and pulled the box I brought with me. " I wouldn't miss it. Here you go, I hope you will like it," I smiled, but then my eyes landed on Isa. She stood nearby, her arms crossed, her eyes glued to her son, who was now busy unwrapping his present. " You missed the party, though," Brad glanced at me. " It was epic. We had a DJ!" " A DJ? Now, I'm mad I missed it." Isa looked at me for the first time since I arrived. " Would you like something to drink?" She asked out of politeness, even if my presence here was the last thing she wanted. I opened my mouth to respond, but Brad's voice filled the room. " It is a robot! It is a freaking robot!" " Brad, language," Isa's voice hard

  • One Night Stand with the Enemy   Chapter twenty nine.

Margot's POV So there she was, my so-called friend, staring at me with her puffy eyes and smeared makeup. She looked nothing like the woman I had known, but after everything, the question was whether I knew her. " What?" This word came out of my mouth before I could think. Nicole looked at me and then looked around. " Can we talk inside?" I stayed still, unable to decide whether this was a good idea, but then I took a hesitant step back, letting her in. " Thank you," Nicole said quietly before coming in. " Get to the point," I replied, motioning her to the living room. " You said you were sorry, so tell me what you are sorry for and then leave." Nicole stopped in her tracks and turned around to face me. I watched her with my arms crossed. " You have every right to be mad at me," she said slowly, and I let a bitter laugh. " Wow, thank you. I was not sure how I felt about you, but now, with your approval, everything is finally clear. I am mad, what a ground-bre

  • One Night Stand with the Enemy   Chapter twenty eight

Margot's POV For the next couple of days, I was experiencing an emotional rollercoaster. On one hand, I could not shake off the feeling of overwhelming shame. How could I stoop so low and let myself get carried away with simple lust? It was not like me; I have never acted this way. On the other hand, I could not forget Nathan's touch, his lips wandering on my skin and his soft kisses making my skin burn. No matter how many times I told myself what we did was wrong, those images kept popping in my head, giving me a headache. I was torn between the disgust for myself and the desire to run back into Nathan’s arms. This inner fight kept me exhausted and emotionally drained. On top of that, I could not stop thinking about Sam and whatever he had hidden in his sleeve. I knew him long enough to know he would not admit his defeat and leave me alone. This man was too stubborn to do it. Something I once admired could become a serious problem, especially since I was gone now, and all his
