I woke up with a slight groan. My head was killing me. I pressed my palm to my throbbing temples, hoping that would ease the pain and help with nausea. The room was dark, but I could swear it was spinning. This night out was a bad idea. I should have never agreed to that. Unfortunately, it was impossible to say 'no' to Nicole, my best friend. She could be very persistent when she wanted. ‘ Focus your eyes on something familiar’, I have instructed myself, trying to return to reality. I blinked my eyes a few times since my vision was blurry. Slowly, furniture shapes became clearer, and panic rose in my chest. Nothing looked familiar here. I was in a room I had never seen before. ‘ Don't panic. There has to be an explanation,’ I thought, but then I realised how outdated this advice was since my heart was already thundering in my chest. I took a deep breath to calm down. I have checked myself. My body was naked, but there were no ropes or tapes. That was a good sign. I was not kidnapped, at least as far as I was aware. But I was also not alone here! When my mind cleared and my panic subsided, I heard a steady breathing. Someone was in the room—no, someone else was in the bed. My heartbeat raced. I was in bed with a stranger. This had to be a bad dream. As slow as possible, I have turned my head to the side. The man next to me was in a deep slumber. His bare, muscular chest was rising with every breath. I could not see his face hidden by his dark, curly hair. I have noticed his strong jaw and lips, now slightly parted. In the other circumstances, I would find them sexy, but now they only scared the hell out of me. ‘ How did we get here together?’ I wondered but quickly brushed the thought away. I had to get out of here before this man would wake up. Who knew what he was up to? I gently moved my body to the edge of the bed and scanned the room, searching for my clothes. I could not leave this place naked. I found them scattered around the floor, and my heart skipped a beat at the sigh. Did he undress me? There was no time for guessing. I slid out of bed and grabbed my bra and underwear. I had to dress myself and leave this place before the man on the bed would wake up. I managed to pull up my pants when I heard the sound of the body moving under the sheets. Stay calm, Margot,' I have forced myself to freeze. Too late. The man was awake already. " So eager to leave? No goodbye kiss?" I heard a sleepy voice. It sounded familiar. And I mean a bad, bad familiar. Oh my God! Oh my God! This was not happening. This could not be HIM. I raised myself from the floor. My heart was pounding in my chest, but I had to make sure. There he was. Nathan Blackwood, lying on the bed with his bare chest, his hand nonchalantly placed under his head. His icy blue eyes pierced me while a smug smile spread on his lips. I zipped my trousers, not taking my gaze off his face. When I was done, I scanned the room, searching for my blouse and jacket. " They are on the chair," Nathan waved his hand with a smirk. I ran to the chair and pulled my shirt. There is no way this perv would stare at my breast for another second. " Why are you in such a hurry?" He asked, fixing himself on the bed. " I am sure you can stay a little longer." " Shut up," I replied, looking for my shoes. " Rude," he giggled, and I glanced at him. " Besides, what are you going to do? Turn back time? Pretending nothing happened?" " Nothing happened," I snapped, greeting my teeth. Why did I end up here with him out of all the men? " I beg to differ," Nathan glanced at my body. " So what happened?" I asked coldly, not sure if I wanted to hear the answer. " Well, you were naked; I am naked." He raised the sheet and peeked underneath. " Yes, naked as the newborn baby. Figure out what happened." " Liar," I spat on the floor while my head spun. I would never do this to Sam. I loved him, I would never. " You can call me names, but it does not change the fact that we had a sweet moment together," Nathan replied, amused by my anger. For him, it was nothing more than fun. My eyes turned dark. This devoid of the principal son of a bi*ch was making fun of me. I would never go with him anywhere, not willingly. Then a strange and scary idea came into my mind. " You dru*ged me? Do you hate Sam so much that you did it to break him? " I hissed, shaking with rage. I could tear this room apart right now. Bast*rd. " Oh dear, don't give me the whole credit. And no, I did not provide anything to make you come here with me." Nathan looked at me coldly, his face like a stone. " Are you trying to tell me that I cheated on Sam? With you?" I gave him a doubtful look. He could not be serious. " I know no other word to describe what you did," Nathan looked at me, and this triumphal smile returned on his face. I hated this man to the core. I was not a cheater; I was not one of those women. I would not cheat with Nathan Blackwood, Sam's biggest enemy. This man was delusional. It was probably his other trick to harm my boyfriend. It would not be the first time, after all. My heart broke when I imagined how Nathan could use this night against Sam. Tears filled my eyes, but I wiped them off immediately. " Are you going to tell him? Is that what you want? To throw this night right in his face?" I asked, forcing my voice to sound brave. " I could. That would be fun, you know," Nathan replied calmly. Just like Sam said, this man had no heart, no dignity. He takes whatever he wants without thinking about the consequences. " I will tell him," I said quietly. If he was going to hear about this, then it should be me. " I highly doubt it. You would not break his heart, would you?" Nathan taunted me, and I balled my fists. " I will tell him on my own. You already did enough," I replied, meaning much more than the night. "Let's not forget that you helped me a lot with that," Nathan replied, bored and sat on the bed. " I will grant your wish. You can tell him. But do not wait too long, or I will do it." I looked at him with disgust. This man was a monster, a heartless monster. I grabbed my purse and phone and left the room, shutting the door behind me. When I reached the elevator, I pressed my back against the wall, calming myself. What have I done? How could I act so recklessly? A few minutes later, I was outside the hotel, waiting for a taxi. The night breeze cooled my emotions. A single tear rolled down my cheeks. What a mess! I thought about how I was going to tell Sam about this evening. There was not an easy way to do it. But first….Nathan's POV " Fu*k!" I cursed, slamming my hand over the top of my desk. What the hell was wrong with me? Margot ran away from my office, almost in tears, after I yelled at her for nothing. I could not take my anger out on the only person who was innocent in this whole mess. I fixed my clothes and rushed to the door, but Lucy grabbed my arm, stopping me.Great, now she would scold me for being a complete prick. " Not now, I have to do something," I said before she could say anything, ready to yank my hand from her grip. I knew I messed it up; she did not have to tell me this again. " Let her be," Lucy replied instead, taking me by surprise. " Are you crazy? I should not have to shout at her. Margot has nothing to do with that!" My voice was dangerously high. " She will be fine. You have a lot on your plate right now. One day she will understand." Lucy placed her hand on my shoulder. " Do not worry; when she understands, she won't be able to stay mad." " Do you think she will un
Margot's POVI let out a deep breath and leaned back in my chair. My eyes hurt, and I was sleep-deprived, but all the pieces were finally falling into place. All my projects were secured, and they belonged to me and me only. No one could claim any of my work again. It felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders; I could breathe freely. And all of that was possible thanks to Nathan's effort. He showed me light where I could only see the darkness. He showed me kindness, while I showed him the lack of trust. And wanted nothing in exchange. Not to mention how he made me feel in bed. Involuntarily, a moan escaped my lips, making me giggle. Was my life finally finding its path- the right one this time? I could not deny that Nathan slowly became an important part of my life. Not because he made me his business partner, but because I generally enjoyed his presence, even if I tried not to admit it out loud. Maybe because I was still too scared to let those feelings bloom. Scar afte
Nathan's POV I was still inwardly gloating when Lucy entered my office without knocking. One look at her pinched face told me there was some bad news waiting for me. Previous happiness instantly faded as I looked at my best friend shifting from foot to foot, like a student who was caught smoking behind the school's gym. " Okay, you have my full attention. What is going on?" I asked, sitting behind my desk. Lucy bit her lip and lowered her head. An unpleasant feeling nested in my chest. She had never had an issue with delivering bad news. This was freaking me out. " Say something. What happened?" Lucy finally raised her head, and I noticed ho pale her skin was. She seemed terrified. " For fu*k sake, speak! I do not like this suspense." My voice rose dangerously. "There was a call... from the hospital," she finally said, hesitantly. " When you were gone."" Hospital?" I have asked, trying to process her words. " Did something happen to my parents?" Panic made my heart race. What
Margot's POVPure chos, that was the only thing that was coming into my mind as I watched the situation unwinding in the conference room. People were shouting in disbelief, and the press was asking questions, sensing hot material. I caught a glimpse of Reed's face; it flickered between rage and fear every couple of seconds. And in the middle of this disaster stood Nathan. He was steady as a rock, answering any question thrown his way. If I were not so overwhelmed, I would stare at him with admiration. Now, his whole plan was crystal clear. That was what he meant by taking back what was mine. He had planned this down to the smallest details, leaving Reed unable to defend himself. When I saw my projects on the screen, I thought I had lost everything I had worked so hard for. Sam would leave this place as the winner, while I would be defeated. I thought he somehow managed to crack my code. With all Reed's money and sources, it would not be impossible. " Miss Roberts, is this true?"
Nathan's POV I could not believe Margot agreed to my offer without a fight. Of course, she had her conditions, but they were entirely acceptable and understandable. I would act exactly the same in her situation. ' Now, it is time to celebrate,' I thought, fixing my tie and making faces in the
Margot's POV I stared at Nathan, wondering if I had heard him right. I was expecting different things, but not such a straight-up refusal. " What?" I managed to ask, my voice weak. Nathan glanced at me, his face straight. " I do not want your projects," he repeated slowly as if I had not
Margot's POV' Was it a good idea? Maybe I should not be doing this?' I kept questioning myself with every step I took. A couple of times, I tried to get back and think about something, but instead, I kept pushing myself to move forward. I have spent a sleepless night analysing everything. Nicole'
Nathan's POV " Uncle Nate," I had heard Brad's voice right before he crushed into me. " Wow, calm down, champ. You are going to break my bones," I laughed and crouched to hug my nephew properly. His face was beaming with joy. " Happy birthday." " I knew you would come," Brad squealed as I tur
