LOGIN“Astrid, you should eat first.”
I suddenly woke up because of Sharmaine’s loud voice. On the other bed, Jenifer was lying down, fast asleep. Oh my! Did we faint just because of a cockroach?? “Are you okay? Nothing hurts? You fainted suddenly when you saw a cockroach,” she said, laughing. “What’s so funny? That’s natural for us,” I replied as I stood up. I looked at myself in the mirror and grimaced at my clothes, but at least I was still beautiful—nothing could change that. “Can you wake her up? She sleeps like a log, and I easily lose patience. I might slap her,” I told Sharmaine. She just laughed as she went to Jen’s side. I combed my hair and put on a little makeup for dinner. It would be embarrassing to look messy—what would the food on the table think? It might lose its flavor. After a while, Jen finally woke up. She immediately stood up and fixed her face too. “We’re still beautiful even if we’re wearing clothes like old ladies,” she said. “Yes, put on a little makeup. The food might lose its appetite if we look shabby,” I replied. “Yah, you’re right,” she said, and started putting makeup on her face. “Hey, aren’t you forbidden to put makeup on your faces?” Sharmaine asked us. “Sorry, but we don’t need someone’s rules to look pretty. If her face is wrinkled, don’t drag us into it,” I said, rolling my eyes. When I looked in the mirror again, I suddenly screamed. “D*mn!! Ahhh!!” I shouted. “So I’m wrinkled now? And what did you say about me??” Mayora said, raising her eyebrow. “A-ahh nothing, hehe,” I said, making a peace sign and about to leave, but she stopped me. “Since you didn’t follow my rules, you two will wash the dishes tonight,” she said as she passed us. I bit my lip at her words. “Ahh!! I hate her!” Jen said. “That’s because you’re both so stubborn,” Sharmaine told us. She just laughed and walked away. Jen and I pouted as we headed to the dining area, almost crying while holding each other. We went inside the dining area and immediately tried to sit down, but Sharmaine stopped us. “Why?” Jen asked her, frowning. “Mayora isn’t here yet. We don’t have her signal, so you two wait,” she told us. “Even with food, she’s still the boss?” I asked in disbelief. “Yes, because she says it’s better if we all eat together than if someone is left behind,” she explained. Sigh… no more Disney princess treatment here. I am officially a maid here. “Bestie, maybe she has a relationship with our boss, that’s why she acts like this,” Jen whispered to me. I looked at her and nodded. “Hmm, Sharmaine, may I ask something?” I said. “Yes, what is it?” she asked. “Is our boss old?” I asked. “We mean the main boss?” Jen added. “Yes, senior is old,” Sharmaine answered. Jen and I looked at each other. It seemed our suspicion was right—she was acting important because she had a relationship with the boss. “That explains everything,” I said. “Yeah, you’re right,” Jen said, frowning. We fell silent when Mayora suddenly entered, carrying a stick. “Sit down, everyone. Have you washed your hands?” “No, Mayora,” Jen and I answered. Only the two of us said no. The others answered yes, so she looked at us again. “You spoiled brats, go wash your hands first!” she commanded authoritatively. We had no choice but to go to the sink and wash our hands. Afterward, we returned to the long table, and she ordered us to sit. “Always remember to pray before eating,” she told us. “Bestie, I don’t know how,” Jen whispered to me. “Me too,” I said back. “Jenifer, you will pray tonight. Tomorrow morning, Astrid will pray,” she said. Jen and I swallowed nervously. “Go ahead, start,” Mayora told her. Jen looked at me for help, but I couldn’t help her—I only knew the ‘Angel of God’ prayer. “Let’s bow our eyes,” Jen said nervously. I couldn’t help but laugh at what she said. My laugh wasn’t loud, just a little, because I knew I’d get scolded again and maybe punished by this wrinkled old woman. Jen started to pray, so I calmed myself. We only prayed ‘Angel of God,’ so it ended quickly. “Next time, find another prayer. We’re not in a classroom, and we’re not going to sleep. How will our food be blessed?” Mayora said. “And you two, stop laughing,” she pointed at me and Sharmaine, so we went quiet. After a while, we started eating. The food was delicious, so Jen and I ate a lot. When we finished, we immediately stood up to take a half bath and fix our faces. “Where are you going?” Mayora asked, making us look at her. “To our room?” I said, confused. “Did you forget you’re washing the dishes tonight?” she said, smirking at us. Jen and I looked at each other like wilted vegetables as we dragged ourselves to the sink. There were so many dirty dishes—I almost cried looking at all the plates and pots. “What do we do?” Jen asked. “I don’t know. They’re rich, but they don’t have a dishwasher,” I said. “There’s no dishwasher now because it’s broken. You’ll wash them by hand,” she said. “But how?” I asked. She came over and started teaching us. “First, rinse them and remove the rice stuck on the plates. Then put soap, rinse well, and wipe with a towel,” she instructed. Jen and I nodded and started following her instructions. But as soon as I held one plate, it slipped and broke. “Oh no!!” she exclaimed. I picked it up, but I cut myself. “Oh my god!! Blood!!” I screamed, and suddenly everything went dark.“APOLLO’S POV” Everything that’s happening right now is still a puzzle to me. I don’t know who or what she really is. Those questions are still stuck in my head. I sighed because I suddenly keep asking things without thinking about what I’m saying. She might notice that I’m still suspicious about their identity—close call. I stood up, about to follow Astrid, when Shaun suddenly spoke. “You’re not serious, are you?” Shaun said. I looked at him, frowning at his question. Psh. This is exactly what I mean. “What are you talking about? Of course I’m serious,” I replied, about to leave when he spoke again. “Give her some space, don’t go there,” Shaun said. I wanted to punch Shaun, but I listened because he had a point. Astrid is still in a stressed state—I don’t want to add to it. “Apollo, it’s not all about you. It’s not all about your loved ones’ safety. What about them? I can read your actions—don’t put Astrid in danger. They won’t do anything to you,” Shaun told me.
I don’t know how to react to what’s happening right now because I didn’t expect this. I don’t even know any enemies of Grandma here—I am innocent. “Hey, let us go!” I shouted, because Jenifer and I were both tied to a very dirty chair. Couldn’t they at least clean it before making us sit there? “What do you even want from us, omg! We’re just freaking maids!! What could you possibly get from us, are you out of your mind!!” Jenifer said angrily, thrashing around. “Shut up already, you’re too noisy!” snapped the bald man’s companion who had grabbed us. “You don’t have the right to shut our mouths because you’re the ones who dragged us here. You don’t even know us, idiots,” I retorted. “Gag them, they’re too noisy. You can let them talk later when Ma’am arrives,” he ordered. I wondered who this “Ma’am” they were talking about could be. My mind refused to process everything that was happening—I couldn’t understand it. “Mhmmmm!!” Jenifer groaned while struggling. “Be quiet!”
We were at the shore, just staring blankly at the waves crashing against the sand. I wanted to swim, but my body didn’t seem to agree. “I–I’m so tired. I don’t feel like doing anything right now,” Jenifer said in a bored tone. I felt the same—so bored. Ever since our conversation, Jenifer and I kept thinking about our feelings. Every single day, these emotions kept bothering us. “Did you get any answers yet?” she asked me. I looked at her and shook my head. I hadn’t found any answers from all my staring and watching the waves. “Ah!! G! Have mercy on us!” Jenifer cried, almost in tears. I wanted to laugh at her antics—she was practically ready to bury her face in the sand. “Crazy. Maybe we should just let our feelings be. We can’t do anything about them anyway, they’re already here,” I sighed. “Ahh!! No way, this isn’t right! We need to clear our feelings, or else we might gamble on the wrong person and end up hurt,” she insisted. She had a point. We could get hurt if
I smiled when Astrid finally left. Right away, I grabbed my phone and called my private investigator. “Hello, Sir,” he greeted me. “Prepare some chocolates and a bouquet of flowers,” I said with a grin. “Copy, Sir,” he replied before ending the call. I quickly stood up and rushed to take a shower. I didn’t realize it would be this easy to make her dance to my tune. I just want to know the truth—I want to uncover her real identity. While showering, I couldn’t help but think about what happened between us last night. A smile crept onto my face. “Sh*t, Apollo, that’s not allowed,” I scolded myself. “You can’t fall in love with that girl. Everything is just an act!” I reminded myself to snap out of it. Afterward, I got dressed and sprayed on a heavy amount of perfume, wanting her to catch my scent even from afar. “Hey.” I turned to see who called me. “Where are you going?” Brix asked. “None of your business,” I replied with a smirk. “Wow, it is my business to m
I woke up because of the heavy weight pressing down on me. Unbelievable—because of how drunk I was, my dreams had gone wild. “Hays, really,” I muttered. When I looked to see who was on top of me, I suddenly felt nervous. “OMG!!” I whispered, frozen, afraid he might wake up. “A-Apollo,” I said, trying to wake him. “Hmm,” he murmured, eyes still closed. I wanted to punch him—damn, my nightmare was real? “A-Apollo,” I called again, shaking him. Slowly, he opened his eyes and gave me a wide smile. “Good morning, sweetie,” he said. Was this real? Was I not dreaming? I pinched my cheek. “It’s not a dream, it’s real. You didn’t tell me you’re wild in bed,” he teased. I blushed at his words, embarrassed beyond belief. I couldn’t remember anything from last night because of how drunk I was. “Are you okay? Do you feel pain down there?” he asked, moving off me. “Kind of,” I admitted, unable to look him in the eye. Aish!! Did I really go for round two? Seriously?!
After that failure, we never tried plan B again because Brix and Mico got smacked. “Ahh!! I hate them, such a waste. I could’ve experienced that again if not for Brix and Shaun’s stupidity,” Jenifer complained, still unable to move on even though two days had already passed. During those two days, Apollo kept taking me out. Sometimes he even accompanied me to visit Bon Bon, of course along with the “boys over flowers” who acted like girls were chasing after them. “What should I do? It’s like I became a red flag to Shaun because of those two,” Jenifer said, pouting. “You’ve been sulking about Shaun for two days now. Shaun this, Shaun that. But does Shaun even mention your name all the time?” I asked her. She looked at me with a scowl. “You’re such a terrible bonding partner. It’s because you’re always with Apollo, acting all sweet with him,” she said, as if it was my fault Apollo treated me that way—even though I didn’t really like it… well, maybe just a little. “It’s not
