The elevator hummed beneath their feet.

The numbers above the door glowed a slow, almost taunting countdown, each passing floor another second she had to endure him, another second her resolve threatened to collapse.

Sarah stood pinned between the metal wall and Liam’s broad frame, her entire body strung tight like a wire pulled to the edge of breaking. She told herself to breathe calmly, to stay indifferent, to pretend that this wasn’t happening. Pretend that she wasn’t trembling. Pretend that her pulse wasn’t leaping against her throat like a wild thing wanting to escape.

But her body… her body had never been so disloyal.

His presence behind her was heat, raw, dangerous heat, and she swore she could feel every inch of him without a single touch. His breath skimmed the side of her neck, and even that non-contact was enough to make goosebumps ripple down her arms.

No. Not again.

Not here.

Not with him.

She pressed her teeth together, willing strength into her limbs, swallowing the pan

The elevator doors hadn’t even fully closed before Sarah stumbled out, breath jagged, chest tight. Her legs felt weak, unreliable, her heartbeat a chaotic rhythm beneath her ribs. Every inch of her skin was still alive, nerve endings buzzing, aching, desperate, remembering him.God.She had wanted him.Not just a little. Not an accidental spark. She had craved him.And that truth, the rawness of it terrified her.She forced her steps faster through the hospital corridor, her shoes striding in uneven beats against the polished floor. She tried to ignore the familiar smell of disinfectant, the beeping monitors in the distance, the low voices of nurses and doctors she had worked with for years. This place was her sanctuary. Her pride. Her entire life’s work. And now it was a battleground contaminated by the very thing she wasn’t supposed to feel. Her breath hitched, the humiliation burning. How could she? How could she let herself unravel in his hands, no, not even his hands, in his pres

  • One Night with the Young CEO   Chapter Forty-Two: The Breaking Point

Sarah had never been so aware of her own heartbeat. It was everywhere, pulsing at her throat, in her fingertips, in the center of her thighs. The elevator had filled in seconds, doctors and nurses and administrators crowding in, filling every inch of space, pressing Sarah and Liam deeper… farther… into the back corner.Exactly where he wanted her.The doors slid shut with a soft metallic whisper, and as the movement began, a shift so slight it could have been accidental, his chest brushed the length of her back. Her breath skipped. Her lashes fluttered. She told herself to stay still. To ignore him. To pretend her skin wasn’t begging for his touch. But the moment she inhaled, she caught his scent, clean coffee, crisp linen, and something dark, male, and devastating, and her knees weakened. He leaned in, his breath grazing the crown of her ear, his voice a sinful murmur meant only for her. “You’re shaking again.”She squeezed her eyes shut. God, why did her body betray her like this?

The elevator’s sudden stop sucked the air from the small space. The soft hum of machinery ceased, leaving only the pounding of Sarah’s pulse in the silence. Her breath stuttered, the rise and fall of her chest unsteady, desperate, betraying her.Liam did not move.He didn’t need to.His presence filled every corner of the elevator, every inch of the shrinking air between them. Her back pressed instinctively against the cool metal wall, as if it could hold her upright, as if it could save her from herself. His eyes lowered, tracing the trembling curve of her lower lip. Her throat tightened. Heat flared beneath her skin, pulsing downward, rooting itself low and deep and dangerous.“Sarah…” he breathed her name like a confession and a possession. Her fingers fumbled at her coat collar, gripping it like a lifeline.“Don’t,” she whispered, though her voice lacked strength, a plea without conviction.Liam’s smirk softened into something far more devastating. “Don’t what?” he asked, tone vel

The hospital parking lot had never felt this suffocating.Sarah stood beside her car, hand frozen on the door handle, unable to convince her shaking body to move forward. Her heart thudded violently against her ribs, breath shallow, chest painfully tight. The crisp morning air should have calmed her. It didn’t. Not when every memory of yesterday still scorched beneath her skin. She scanned the row of vehicles, expecting, fearing, hoping for a glimpse of him. For that towering, magnetic silhouette that haunted her every breath. For those eyes that stripped her defenses bare. For that smirk that promised surrender. He wasn’t there. And somehow, that terrified her more. Her fingers curled around the strap of her bag, knuckles whitening as a wave of dizziness washed through her. She had rehearsed this moment all night, lying awake, trembling in tangled sheets, today, she would take control. She would put distance between herself and the one man who could unravel everything she had built.

  • One Night with the Young CEO   Chapter Thirty-Eight: The Pull

Sarah’s hands shook as she gripped the steering wheel, knuckles white, pulse pounding like a drum in her ears. Her chest burned. Her mind screamed. Her body, her treacherous, traitorous body, longed for him with a rawness he hadn’t felt in decades. Every nerve ending was alive, ignited, every pulse vibrating with memory and desire. And he was there. He hadn’t moved from her mind. Not for a second. She could still feel the weight of his gaze, the subtle curl of his smirk, the low hum of his voice vibrating in her chest: “You can’t escape me. Not really. Not ever.”God, he was right.Sarah had fled the salon as if her life depended on it, yet every inch of her wanted to run back, to throw herself into that magnetic storm he embodied. She wanted to plead, to beg, to surrender to the forbidden he had ignited, but she couldn’t. She wasn’t that woman. Or at least, she told herself that. And yet, deep down, somewhere raw and dangerous, she knew she was lying. Her phone buzzed lightly against
