Chapter 4

  “Hey cercei, where did you run off too and what exactly happened back there?” Mirabel asked inquisitively.

  

  “I’ll explain when we see, where are you right now? I’m trying to get a cab, you home?” Cercei asked as she twirled her hand into the road, trying to stop a taxi.

  

  “No I’m not home, I decided to crash at tommy’s and I’ll be coming to school tomorrow from his apartment, you are with the keys to my apartment, right? So go home and sleep tight baby.” mirabel replied with a playful tang at the edge of her voice.

  

  “Leave me, stop it, sto-p” Cercie heard mirabel’s tiny, sweet voice linger over the phone and she knew that would be her lover boy Tommy trying to distract her while she was on the phone.

  

  “Okay baby, see you at school tomorrow.” Cercei said as she smiled and hung up.

  

  Cercei finally got a taxi.

  

  “We’re here.” The taxi driver said as he pulled over and got an empty spot to park his car in front of mirabel’s apartment, she paid and alighted from his car and whispered “Thank you.” 

  

  Today is the first that cercei would actually be sleeping alone since she moved in with her best friend after her ex room mate snatched her now ex boyfriend from her, Cercei has not been able to completely get over him but her best friend has been trying to cheer her up and make moving on easier for her.

  

  She reached for the house keys in her bag, got in and closed the doors behind her, then she went ahead and took a cold shower.

  

   Cercei in the shower couldn’t help but think about all that transpired at the party, she wondered how and why she got to meet her assaultee and why it had to be at the party with her best friend, and why the person that was suppose to be engaged callled off her engagement and started having heated arguments with the stranger that she has kissed– twice, without even knowing his name and why he had to insist he gives her a ride home only to end up dropping her off at the bus stop .

  

  Confused, Cercei sighed as she got out of the shower and wiped off her body with her towel, she changed into her pyjamas and bounced on the bed 

  

  ‘It was a really long night, he looked kind of hot though.’ She whispered to herself as she felt her eye lids kiss each other and she fell asleep.

      Cercei woke up as early as she could and made preparations for classes, it’s an early lecture today and she wouldn’t like to get to school late.

  

  She got outside, hopped into a taxi and left for school. She got to class earlier than the lecturer as expected.

  

  Immediately cercei stepped foot into the class, the whole students gave her a really weird look, she felt uncomfortable at first but tried to ignore that feeling as she moved further into the classroom to get to an empty seat. 

  

  

  “She was the one kissing him, she kissed him... yeesss— she kissed the lecturer, she ruined Sandra’s engagement, she sh——e” Cercei heard those tiny whispers all around her just as soon was about to take her seat, it felt like almost the whole class were whispering to each other about her and looking at her in a really weird manner.

  

  She manged to sink into a seat after finally getting an empty seat, she was really confused and weirded out at the same time, and that was when she started to connect the dots together, that a few of her classmates were at the party and the whole drama happened in their presence. Cercei didn’t know if she should feel sad or happy about the current situation, she just kept trying to maintain her “I’m okay” look , when deep down she wasn’t fine.

  

       Mirabel walked in and noticed the weird energy of her classmates, she immediately searched around for cercei and made her way towards her as soon as she could. “Hey baby.” Mirabel gushed in a light voice as she dropped her bag on the desk and sat beside cercei.

  

  “Hey sweetie, how are y—”   Cercei was about to respond, but got cut off by the voice of their lecturer. 

  

  “Good morning class.” The lecturer’s voice echoed around the class as he came in and cut cercei short, they had to concentrate and leave whenever they had to say to each other till after the class.

  After the class.

  

  

   “Let’s take a stroll baby.” Mirabel said as she pulled cercei up from her seat gently and Cercei obliged and followed her. 

  

  “Aaron is really your boyfriend? For real? Why didn’t you tell me you moved on already? I thought I was your best friend.”  They both just took their first step out of the class when mirabel attacked cercei with these questions that she has held in her mind since last night.

  

  “His name is Aaron? he isn’t, what happened is ——— ,”  Cercei was about to say the truth when she sighted her ex boyfriend behind Mirabel passing by, but also subtly trying to eavesdrop to their conversation.

  

  “He is my boyfriend and we are now dating.” Cercei responded to Mirabel with the sole aim of making her ex boyfriend jealous. Not only did her ex boyfriend heard that reply, some girls in her department also heard and this stirred up different opinions in the mind of the students and everyone that heard started talking about it to their friends that didn’t hear and that’s how the information started spreading all around the school like wild fire in dry bush.

  

  “Let’s stop this discussion for now, I’ll explain later today on our way home.” Cercei said as she held mirabel’s hand and they both headed out of the class premises for a stroll, they both got tired of strolling in the school premises an hour later.

  

  “Let’s get back to the class to get our bags and head home, I feel tired, I want to rest.” cercei said to mirabel as she headed towards the direction leading to the classroom, pulling her friend gently and leading the way.

  

  They both got a taxi as soon as they got outside the school, “I was only lieing earlier baby because I saw my ex behind you, I wanted him to be jealous, the guy I kissed... he is only but a stranger, I don’t even know his name until you mentioned it in school, you called him Aaron, right? Or something along that line.”

  Cercei explained to mirabel looking desperately into her eyes. 

  

  “Wait you kissed someone you don’t know? As in you kissed a stranger at a party?!” Mirabel asked cercei, looking suprised with her eye wide open.

  

  “Yes, the second time now!” Cercei replied avoiding mirabel’s judging eyes.

  

  “Wow!!!!!” Mirabel exclaimed as she folded her arms under her boobs and shook her head in awe.

  

  “The thing is, I started it, I kissed him the first day we met at the school cafe, I assaulted him, I used him to make my ex jealous the very day I broke up with him after eavesdropping from my ex roommate and her friend’s discussion that he was going to dump me, I decided to make the first move and make him feel I have another person after that.” cercei explained carefully to her best friend.

  

  “Ooh, oh, oh... it all adds up now!! So he also met you coincidentally at the party and decided to also use you to get back at his ex fiancé who is Sandra, my boyfriend’s sister” mirable nodded and shook her head in satisfaction as she now understands the whole situation.

  

  “Yes baby, you are right!” Cercei replied with joy in her heart as she has now explained the whole situation to her best friend.

  

  “We are here.” The taxi driver said as he parked his car and expected payment, mirabel paid him and they both alighted and headed inside the apartment immediately. 

  

  Cercei searched for the keys for a couple of seconds before she found it, and she opened the door and they got in as soon as the keys got founded.

  

  “I’ll ask Tommy to give me details about the Aaron guy on your behalf, you deserve to know the total stranger that you have kissed twice now and who almost all our classmates probably assume is your new man.”  Mirabel said sheepishly.

  

  “Yes, please do, Thank you my love.” Cercei replied and they both burst out into laughter.

  

  “But, be honest with me baby, how did you feel when y’all kissed the second time and when you were with him in his car, you both said nothing to each other?” Mirabel asked inquisitively but in a playful manner.

  

  “He, he... we didn’t say much to each other, he seemed like a tough kind of guy, but smelled so nice, his cologne or whatever he used is top notch but he just dropped me off and left me stranded at the bus stop instead of bringing me home! Fuck him!”  Cercei said as she rolled on the bed and gushing out with loud laughter.

  

  “Yea! Fuck him!” Mirabel replied and they both chukled and laughed out loud.
