I could understand that she was angry, but I was not able to discern why.

Did she not want to be alone? And besides, I couldn't take her along with the people I went to talk to.

The man behind the counter looked at me with intent eyes as if I wanted to know whether he should give her another drink or not.

Drinking the wine from her glass, I could tell it was the finest one but also the strong ability to make one tipsy after one glass, and she had shown the drink was going to her head. But I could not feel like rejecting her wish because if I did, she would probably curse me throughout the night. Maybe she might do something else that I hadn't thought of.

So, I nudged my head, giving him permission to serve her another drink. Meantime, I added, "You are going to make sure you will be on your best behavior."
