At the Priestly's residence.

Charles was doing his best to avoid Helga. He keeps late hours at work and leaves extra early just to avoid any interaction with his wife. The last thing he wanted to do was to argue with her about the situation Ava was in right now. He still couldn't believe it but that same day, a representative from Lancaster Group came to his restaurant to talk about Benjamin's transfer to a better medical facility and the fact that his daughter will be able to live a comfortable life--one that he stripped them off the moment he brought Helga and Beatriz home.

However, Helga doesn't give up that easy. She sensed the avoidance and ambushed Charles past midnight.

The entire house was dark, Charles smiled as he slipped inside the main door. All of a sudden the lights turned on, momentarily blinding him he had to shield his eyes.

"What the...?"

"Welcome home, dear husband." Helga purred in the couch.

Charles smiled awkwardly, realizing he could no longer escape and all h

They were almost broke, ready to lose everything they have--including Ava's honor but fate interfered by leading her to Matthew Lancaster's room. The Priestly's were in the brink of bankruptcy, thanks to Ava's mistake, it was all gone in a blink of an eye. He went to work and while he was reviewing the restaurant's new menu, his phone rang. It was an unknown number so he ignored it. But the caller was persistent, annoyed, Charles picked it up. "Yes?"[Good morning, Mr. Priestly, this is from Light House Medical Institute. I am calling to inform you that your son, Benjamin Priestly is

Ava's POV:Nancy approached us with a wide smile. We see her so frequently that we became friends already.“How are you both doing?” she greeted warmly. “You two have to come into the store. A dress came in that is so you. Please, just take a look!”“Oh, we’re going in for sure—I’m already curious! Besides, you need new clothes to fit your new lifestyle.” Terra said, tugging me by the hand into the boutique. The sales assistant brought out the dress still in its protective cover. It was a red evening dress, shimmering and short, with spaghetti straps, a deep V-neckline, and a plunging back that reached the base of the spine. Sexy wasn’t even the word. It was absolutely stunning.“Dressing room. Now,” Terra commanded, eyes sparkling.“Terra, come on. I don’t even go out at night. Where would I wear something like this?” I protested, trying to resist.“Well, in case you forget, Luke arrives today, and I’m already planning to convince him to take us dancing next weekend. Now go!”“You’re

Matthew's POV:I stepped back into the party hall, trying to find Milo—but he was nowhere. Neither was Eubanks. Everything around me was spinning. I needed to get out of there. Fast.I started crossing the room, nodding politely to a few guests even though I could barely keep my balance. That’s when I felt someone wrap their arms around my waist. A sickly-sweet perfume invaded my senses, and before I knew it, Katherine was dragging me through the crowd, babbling to people along the way.I was so out of it, so disoriented from the alcohol, I couldn’t even fight her off.She tugged me into the elevator. I tried to pull away."Matthew, I can see you're drunk. Let’s go to your office. You can rest, drink some water, and we’ll come back down later.” Her voice grated on my nerves.“Katherine, let me go. I need to find Milo,” I managed to mutter."How about this? You go to your office, and I’ll go get him. Deal?”I nodded, mostly to make her stop talking. I didn’t even realize she hadn’t lef

Matthew's POV:I sat there, stunned, as Ava rushed out of the conference room after kissing me like she couldn’t live without me. For a few seconds, I just stared at the door, unable to move.It wasn’t until Milo and Eubanks walked in that I finally snapped out of it.“She kissed me,” I said, more to myself than to them. “She responded to my kiss.”I knew her, as crazy as it may sound. I knew the way her body trembled in my arms, the way her breath hitched. She wanted me just as much as I wanted her. That kiss…that kiss meant something. I smiled. Maybe this tradition wasn't bad at all.“Ava stormed out like Flash, you know Flash? That superhero?” Milo commented, arching a brow.“She’s shy and she's confused as of the moment but she knew this was it,” I said with a quiet confidence.Eubanks, my secretary and friend shook his head. “Okay, Romeo. What happened?”I told them everything—how I ghosted the dinner with Gerald and with who I was. My plan to make it uo to them, the kiss, her te

  • One night with Mr. Lancaster   Chapter 20| Hello, wife

Two days passed by swiftly. The Lancaster mansion became Ava's home for two days since the day Matthew took her from their house. It had been a bliss for her--she loved the study because it had a huge selection of books she never had the chance to read. Gerald told her to consider the mansion her new home and she's free to explore the entire vicinity. That was how she found the study. Ava loved reading, to pass her time, she read a lot. She haven't felt peace this way for a long time so she cherished it.It was peaceful, just her and the books she found. Until that peace was interrupted by a single knock. "Hi, I hope I'm not interrupting your 'me-time'.""Alfred, hi." Ava beamed. In her two days at the mansion, Alfred made her stay easier and homey. She closed her book and set it on her lap. "No, it's okay. Is there a problem?"Alfred returned her smile with a friendly expression and shook his head. "No, none at all. It's just that you have to be ready.""For what?""You're not suppo
