Chapter 4

Memories of being tortured came flooding back. I instinctively dug my fingers into my palms, but I lowered my gaze and said nothing.

Sebastian burst into laughter, came up behind me, and gave my head a hard smack. "I bet you didn't know this, but while they were torturing you, I was sleeping with your wife. That felt really good, you know.

"I heard you haven't even slept with her. That makes sense. Kayla's never thought much of you. Why would she even let you touch her?"

Sebastian let out a long sigh. "I'm just being honest. As a man, you're a complete failure. Isaac, I want you to prove that you've truly submitted to us.

"Drink this herbal medicine. It'll make sure you can never have children. Even though you probably can't get it up anymore, I think we should stay on the safe side, don't you think?"

Sebastian picked up the bowl and brought it to my lips.

I managed to suppress my fury, keeping my expression blank. Still, I refused to open my mouth.

He let out a scoff and pressed the bowl more firmly against my lips. "Go on. Drink it."

I didn't want to drink it, yet I had no choice.

I opened my mouth, as if I were about to drink it. The next moment, I knocked the bowl away, sending the scalding medicine splashing over Sebastian's hands. He instinctively tossed the bowl aside.

Having heard the commotion, Kayla hurried into the room. Her expression shifted when she saw his reddened hands, and she hurried over to slap me.

"Bastard! You never learn, do you?"

The force of her slap sent me crashing to the ground, and my hands came down on the shards of broken glass.

But Kayla didn't seem to notice anything, as all her attention was on Sebastian's hands. She asked worriedly, "Sebastian, are you hurt?"

Sebastian shook his head with a frown and said, "I'm fine. I thought Isaac looked really thin, so I wanted to give him something nutritious. I didn't expect him to refuse, and he even said you'd die today."

Seeing Kayla's expression darken, I quickly shook my head, but she rushed over and slapped me twice.

"Bastard! You said Sebastian was going to die back then, and he was gracious enough to forgive you. I thought you knew better now. I can't believe you actually said the same thing about me today!

"The maids told me earlier that you were always trying to find ways around the rules and even tried to escape a few times. If you ask me, maybe you shouldn't come home with me later. We should just break your legs so you won't keep thinking about escaping!"

Kayla gestured for the maids to bring her a club.

As panic set in, I was suddenly drawn to the number above her head.

I didn't know when things had changed. She was supposed to have one whole day left, yet it was ticking down by the second.

Ten. Nine. Eight…

"Isaac, I'm going to break your legs!"

Kayla ordered the maids to pin me to the floor. Then she slowly walked toward me, the club in hand.

Seven. Six…

I paid no attention to Kayla, silently counting down.

The next moment, Kayla raised the club, about to swing it at me, but she suddenly swayed. The club slipped from her hand and fell to the floor. She pressed her hand to her forehead, looking slightly dazed.

Sebastian took the chance to fan the flames. "Kayla, are you alright? He must've really gotten to you, huh?"

I caught a flicker of something in Sebastian's expression and realized he seemed to be looking forward to what was about to happen.

But Kayla looked grimmer than ever. She took a deep breath, picked up the club, and said coldly, "No way. He said I'd die today. I'll never let him off for that!"

The next second, I saw the countdown above her head turn to one. It was bright red, bold, and flashing.

The moment she raised the club again, she suddenly turned deathly pale. A moment later, she started coughing up mouthfuls of blood, unable to speak clearly.

"What… What's going on… I…"

Blood spilled from the corners of her mouth as she spoke.

Her eyes rolled back, and she crumpled to the floor.
