Chapter Five

The last thing I remember was someone saying, "We're adding the medicine now," and I was looking around for Roman like a maniac.

I woke up to the sound of a beeping monitor. I opened my eyes slowly so I could adjust to the bright light. My head still feels a little dizzy and I can't feel almost my entire body, like my arms and legs aren't there. I slowly tried to get up a little so I could see where I was. Everything in my head is blurry. Someone entered, and I turned my head in their direction. I could see a female dressed all in white. I tried to get up using my arms but failed miserably.

"Hey. You finally woke up. " The woman spoke, approaching me with a tray in her hands.

"God, I'm in the hospital, aren't I?''

''Yes ma'am. You came here with a lot of wounds and a lot of blood loss. " Blood. Oh my God. Roman. I try to get back up, ignoring the fact that my whole body feels like it's on fire.

"Ma'am, please don't get up. Please, you don't have to move. Please, ma'am, your stitches will open again. "

"Don't touch me," I yell as she does everything in her power to keep me lying down. I get up, pull the needle in my arm out of my arm and the monitor wires out of my chest, and stand up. I was wearing a giant Johnny dress that reached my ankles. I started walking a little faster, shouting Roman's name. God, please make him alive. It's all my fault. I'm the reason he got hurt. I should have stayed away from him. I shouldn't have talked to him. God, make him be well. Please. I could feel the tears running down my cheeks. A bunch of feelings gathered in my stomach, making me feel like I wanted to vomit. The thought of losing him makes my heart shatter into a million pieces. I reached for the door and opened it. I started looking around, and my eyes met him. I breathed a sigh of relief after seeing him sitting in the hospital chair in flesh and blood. His head was hanging out of the chair as he let out a few light snores.

"Ma'am, please go back to your bed. You should take your medicine.''I just stood at the door, using it for balance, and just watched. My cheeks were still wet from my tears and a slight smile formed on my lips. After a few seconds, the nurse spoke again, and Roman jumped in terror. He looked so calm.

''Ivy. What are you doing?'' he says, getting up and approaching me. My heart started beating like crazy. A shiver ran down my spine as his hand came to reach my arm, pulling me closer to him. I just stood there completely frozen. He pulled me into a hug, being careful not to hurt my back as his head was buried in the crook of my neck. I hear his sobs as he hugs me tighter and I hug him back. I stroked his hair with my hand. The feeling of his soft hair in my hand. His addictive scent makes me feel alive.

''I thought I lost you,'' Roman says between sobs, kissing my neck and breathing my scent. No. No. This is so wrong. He wasn't supposed to get worried about me. He loves Emily.

''Roman,'' I say trying to pull away a bit. ''Roman,'' I say again, trying to push him back but failing.

''Ivy. I know what you're thinking. No, I don't love Emily. I don't like her either. And no, I'm not leaving. "Am I being clear?'' he says, pulling back a bit to look me in the eye. His eyes fell to my lips and then to my eyes again. I could see the dark circles forming under his eyes. "I'll never give up on you again," he says, kissing my forehead, and that's all I needed to blush.

"Cute." He says, touching the tip of my nose with his index finger. "Now you're not supposed to be up." And with that, he carries me bride-style to the hospital bed, the nurse behind us making sure I'm comfortable in bed by adjusting the pillows. She put the needle back into my arm carefully, and Roman pulled up a chair next to my bed and sat on it.

''So,'' I say, looking at Roman.

"Yeah?" Roman says, raising an eyebrow.

"What happened?"

''You don't have to know. All you need to know is that no one is laying a hand on you again. But we're going to talk about this when you get better. Do you understand me? '' he says, bringing his face a few inches away from mine. God, here I blush again. ''I said, Do. You. Understand. Me?'' he asks again,  his lips brushing with mine in every word. I just nod. "Okay," he says, getting back and pulling his phone out of his pocket. I bet my face looks like a tomato right now. My heart beats like I ran a marathon. Roman looks at my condition and smirks. I will kill him.

The nurse returns with a tray with a bowl of soup. She leaves the bowl by the nightstand and walks away without a word. Roman gets up, puts the phone back in his pocket, and picks up the bowl of soup.

"What are you doing?" I say, looking at him with a confused look.

"I'm feeding you," he says, taking the spoon full of soup and pointing it to my mouth.

''No. I don't want it.'' I say trying to avoid it.

''Ivy. Don't make me do this the hard way. Open your mouth. "

"No."

''Ivy. Open your mouth,'' he says in a more serious tone.

''No,'' I say again crossing my arms over my chest and turning my head in the other direction.

''God damn it. You asked for it.'' then two male nurses entered the room, tying me to the bed and Roman feeding me soup. After an hour, I finished the soup and, to be honest, I feel a little better but I am not going to tell him that. I haven't eaten this much in a long time and I have lost a lot of weight.

''Ivy the police are going to come to ask you some questions. I want you to tell them everything. How it started and everything. Do you hear me?'' I stay silent. Not talking. But my mind can't seem to be at peace. What happened to Kai? And why is my aunt not here?

''Come on, Ivy, don't give me the silent treatment. You know I hate it.'' I still don't talk to him, I just pretend to be busy on my phone. This sucker made me eat an entire bowl of soup against my will, using two other nurses to hold me, and he thinks he is going to get away with it like this. No.

I could feel my eyes getting heavy, but I didn't want to sleep. I turn my head to Roman only to see him already looking at me. His dark circles are showing off and I bet he hasn't slept in a while. I try to get a bit back to make space for him and pat him on the bed so he can lie down. He hops in, takes his shoes off, and lays down next to me.

''I knew you would give up.'' He says, getting closer and hugging me.

"Don't make me change my mind,'' I say, glaring at him, and I lay my head back on the pillow, my eyes never leaving his. I watch him doing the same, hugging me and pulling me closer to him. I placed my head near his neck and closed my eyes, falling asleep. Oh God, this is so wrong.
