Grace 's Pov
We were making our way to this restaurant where he had to meet someone for a business meeting. I was in his car and the tension was thick. The silence was threatening and the hard expression on his face didn't help at all.We were at the restaurant in a few minutes. A guard opened my gate and helped me out. I thanked him softly before moving behind Mr. Knight, as he continued walking in his powerful strides. I had to run a little to keep up with him. We were escorted to a private area by the workers as soon as they recognized Mr. Knight. I saw that the person we had to meet was already there, and we joined him at the table."Hello Mr Knight. It's nice to meet you finally." He offered his hand and Mr Knight accepted, shaking it firmly."What is the reason that you wanted to meet me in a hurry Mr. Worthing?" Mr. Knight asked as he took a sip from his coffee."Well Mr. Knight, I thought of the tempting deal you had offered my company a few weeks back. I have made up my mind to accept it." Mr. Worthing replied rather cheerfully."Well then I'm sorry to break it to you but you are a little late for that. I have already found a more reliable partner for that." Mr Knight casually sipped his coffee."I see. Well, are you not ready to consider it even after I offer you 20 % shares in my company." He challenged Mr Knight to rethink about it.Mr knight gave him a bored look before pulling out his hand in my direction asking for something. I knew what he wanted and immediately searched for the paper that I had put in my bag before leaving, and placed it in his hands. He snapped the paper on Mr. Worthing's face before starting to speak."According to these details found by my P.A, your company is already in a debt of $50 million. Plus you are hardly gaining any profits so I'm sure those 20% shares in your company are going to do no good to me. It would be better if you just sell your company to someone who actually knows how to run it." He smirked and got up excusing himself to attend a call."So you are the one huh? Interesting," I looked at Me. Worthing skeptically on his comment. He reached his pocket to bring out an envelope and placed it right in front of me on the table.I looked at him confused to see him nodding towards the envelope, signaling me to look inside. I picked up the envelope and opened it to find money. A huge amount to be exact."It's $ 50,000. Work with us behind his back and it's all yours," I raised an eyebrow at his ridiculous offer. Yes I was in need of money but that didn't mean I would backstab anyone and gain it by unfair means."You want me to betray him?" I asked bored."That's exactly what I want, sweetheart. I can give you the double of what he gives you. Along with much more," he licked his lips eyeing my body. I felt disgusted. I tossed the envelope on his face."No thank you but I am doing quite well." He scoffed at my remark."Now we all know that's a lie," that fucker spoke. How dare he say anything about my personal life?"Well whatever it is, it isn't your business. And I'd like it if you stay out of it." I rejected his offer once again."You will regret it." Before I could say anything back to him, Mr knights came and ordered that we were leaving. And so I left with him, not before giving that fucker a sting eye.Author's PovAshton sipped down his wine as his thoughts roamed on someone. He scoffed at her for some reason. How stupid she is. Trying to act all innocent to get close to him and then ruin him one way or another. He knew the tactics women use these days.He remembered two days back when he had over worked himself and got a fever and she helped him. She had proven then, that she just wanted to be in his pants. Wanted to take advantage of him. Well that's the legal explanation his brain gave him. He knew his heart was objecting to this point, but he shoved that feeling deep down. It was argued that she was not like that and was indeed an innocent girl but he didn't want to listen to that voice.Even yesterday at the meeting, she refused to take that amount of money from the bastard because she knew Ashton was close and would catch her. Otherwise who would have refused that generous amount? No one in their right minds. Of course, he had witnessed the whole incident taking place in front of him. But it momentarily surprised him when she refused his offer. He was itching to fire her. He knew that she would do something in the future that would provoke him and give him an excuse to fire her and he was desperately rooting for that day.She was just trouble. He had been keeping a sharp eye on her moves to find any excuse to fire her, but that girl didn't give him any. Everything she did was perfect. He knew that the presentation she gave was perfect too, but he didn't want her to get ahead of herself after praising her. That would just give her an excuse to stick to him even more."Where are you lost?" He was broken out of his thoughts when Adrian made his appearance in the living room."What are you doing here?" Ashton raised an eyebrow at him."Why? A person cannot visit his best friend?" Adrian plopped down on the couch before pouring out some wine in a glass for himself and twirled the glass in the air."Just thinking about a few things," Ashton replied bored."Do those few things involve a certain P.A who's name you still don't know?" Adrian teased him since he didn't even know her name. Ashton gulped down his wine before replying."No I wasn't thinking about her," he lied sharply, "and I know her name. It is Grace. Grace Miller." Adrian's head snapped towards Ashton at the name."Grace?" He whispered. Could it be? No but there were so many people with the same name and probably the same surname as well. But something in his heart was not complying. He wanted to know more about her."Tell me more about her," He said casually, wanting some more information."Why? Are you suddenly not interested in Macy's?" Ashton questioned in irritation."Of course I am. How can you even say that." Adrian argued. "I just want to make sure that she isn't working behind your back with someone, considering all your previous assistants were nothing but losers. I just want your business to be okay," he reasoned with him. Even if they were best friends, Adrian had still not shared the dark past of his family with him. For some reason he didn't want to dwell on the thought. But that didn't mean he gave up finding his little princess. He sighed knowing how terribly he missed her. He just wanted to know if she was safe."My business is way ahead of everyone's, okay? Tell me about yours. How are things going?" Ashton changed the topic not wanting to talk about Grace anymore.Grace's POV The next morning I made my way to my cabin, not before wishing Valentina a good morning who returned it with a big smile. I placed my things on my desk before moving out to grab some coffee for Mr Knight. I took the cup in my hand along with a sandwich I had bought for him on the way, knowing he doesn't have breakfast. I gently knocked on the door and entered after hearing a stern come in. I wished him as I placed the coffee and sandwich on his desk. He eyed the sandwich curiously before concentrating back on his work. "What do I have on schedule today?" He kept his eyes locked on the laptop. "You just have a meeting today with Mr Steve to further discuss the project." I explained. For some reason I don't know, I didn't trust this Mr Steve. I mean that day at the meeting the way he was looking at me did not feel right. And then he even commented about me casually to Mr Knight. That too right in front of me. His eyes gave away something. Something mischievous. My sixth s
GRACE'S POVI went to my cabin, still trembling a little from the incident that occurred not minutes ago. I redid the whole document and made sure to re-check it over and over again before finally submitting it to Mr Knight. He didn't even acknowledge my presence as I made my way into his office and placed the document on his desk. I asked if he needed anything else. Not getting a reply in return, I just turned around to leave. I sat on my chair before calming myself. Was I ever going to have a simple life without having to worry about money anymore? With having someone to care about me. Why did you leave me so early mom? Just why? A tear leaked from my eye at the memories I had with her. My mind trailed off to the days when we were all happy, living together as a family. With my elder brother always there to look after me and to kiss my boo boos when I got hurt. Was he doing alright now? Had he settled down in life? Had he taken over dad's business as it was planned? I just hoped
Grace's pov Two days. Just two days left. And she'll kick me out. I can't believe I wasted a whole day just like that. I finally slammed my laptop shut when I couldn't find a reasonable side job that could help me generate a few dollars in two days. They at least required you to work for a week. Like come on! Can't they hire someone as a helper for two days? I saw the clock starting at 8 am. Yep. I stayed up all night. I dragged myself to the bathroom and took a shower and got changed for the office, all the time worrying over the fact that if I don't have enough money in two days, I will have no place to live in. Reaching the office, Valentina stopped me before I made my way to the elevator. "You ok?" She sounded worried. "You don't look so good." I gave her a half-hearted smile, "I'm fine, just a little tired," I explained and she scowled at my words. "I can literally see those dark circles under your eyes. Not to mention it looks like you lost a couple of pounds." She st
Grace I was ready for the event, waiting for the car to arrive at my door. I heard a horn, indicating the car was here. I looked at myself once in the mirror, before leaving and locking my door. When I turned around to face the car, my eyes bulged out of my sockets. I saw a brand new Limo waiting outside my door. The driver stepped out from his seat and opened the door for me. I thanked him before sitting in and he quietly drove us to our destination. He opened the door once again for me as I stepped out. I looked in front to see paparazzi surrounding the front gate of the hall. Their eyes immediately turned towards me. Without paying more attention to it, I decided to head in, trying to escape the countless cameras flashing in my direction. "You are one pretty lady." I heard a camera man saying to me. I turned to face him. "You could do an excellent job as a model." He handed me a card. "My company is recently looking for ethereal beauties like you. Give it a call if you are i
Grace I plopped down on my bed after kicking off my heels. I groaned, staring at the ceiling. Why can't things go my way for once? Another day wasted. If I don't pay tomorrow, then I won't have a place to live! God please help me! I beg you! I got up and changed out of the dress. My stomach growled, making me glare at it. Moving towards my kitchen, I grabbed an instant noodles packet from the cabinet and started boiling it. After having my so-called dinner, I succumbed to sleep. The next day, I was extra nervous when I made my way to the office. This didn't go unnoticed by many people and Stephen even approached me to ask if I was ok. Giving him a fake smile and a polite answer, I started making my way to the employee's elevator. But I stopped in my tracks when dizziness enveloped my head. I swayed a little, stumbling on my feet but still managed to balance myself. Stephen was quick to run to me and hold me by my shoulders. "Woah there! What is happening to you? You are definit
Author's pov Ashton felt his blood boil, as he waited for Grace to show up. Five minutes had passed since the meeting had started, and she was nowhere to be seen. He sighed from frustration, tapping his feet impatiently against the wooden floor. His eyes traveled to Mr. Steve who was sitting opposite to him on the long rectangular table. Not being able to control his anger anymore, he called for Stella. "Where is Grace?" he questioned her in his hard tone as soon as she entered the hall. Not wanting to anger him anymore, she decided to reply. "I didn't really see her anywhere in the office today Mr. Knight." She said while looking down at the ground. Ashton, irritated with the whole situation, ran his fingers through his hair. Sighing furiously, he got up from his seat and made his way to the glass wall behind him, that gave him a clear view of the city. Trying to calm himself, he closed his eyes momentarily before opening them back again. But that didn't help him either. In f
Adrian's POV Grace told me her whole story. And I couldn't believe she was indeed the 'Grace Miller' who was working as P.A for Ashton knight a.k.a. my best friend. She told me how he treated her like shit. Honestly I knew if there was any other girl in her place, he would have treated her the same. After what his mother did with his father, he had a stigma attached to women. 'They are nothing but gold diggers' that was his belief. I felt really angry after knowing how terribly he fired her like that. He should have at least given her a chance to clarify the situation. But no. I knew my best friend Ashton Knight to always act on impulse and then regret later. I didn't want to keep Grace in the dark by not telling the relationship I had with Ashton. It wouldn't have been fair to her. But that didn't mean I would not support her. Hell I will not let him come close to Grace anymore. She had already suffered so much. And I can't let that happen again. But that also didn't mean that
Grace's POV The next morning I was sitting on the kitchen counter, munching on some chocolate while Adrian was busy making his special English breakfast for us. The doorbell rang, signaling someone had come to visit him. "Hey can you get that?" he asked as the bacon sizzled on the pan. "Sure!" Hopping down from the counter I made my way to the door. I swung it open to see a girl of my age standing behind it and tapping her foot against the floor being impatient. Well she was pretty. Her eyes fell on me and they widened for a moment as she took my appearance in. Her eyes slowly trailed down my whole body, from my head to my toes. Her jaw dropped and a scowl marked her face. "How dare he!" She screeched and barged her way in, not before slightly shoving me away with her shoulder. "Get out of my way," she spat making her way in. Well that was rude. I followed behind her only to see her yelling at my brother? "Adrian! You cheater! Come out! Where are you hiding!" My eyes bulge
