Mag-log inThat morning, two men had brought me clothes to me that I would wear to attend the meeting with Silas.
He didn't tell me what kind it was and I was too embarrassed to ask after he had caught me pleasuring myself.
It was a pair of black pants, a black tank top, and a furry black overcoat to go with it.
As I walked out of the bedroom, my gaze caught Silas standing in front of his bedroom door. He turned in my direction. I immediately heard the door shut, and his hands slipped into his pockets.
My cheeks flushed red with embarrassment as I recalled last night's memories. I pressed my lips together as I walked closer to him, his gaze following me with each step.
He reached for my coat and adjusted it. “You look… pretty.”
Seriously, who calls a boy pretty? I looked away from him, nervous sweat dripping down the sides of my face.
My breath hitched as I suddenly felt Silas’s warm hand on my chin. “What are you thinking about?” he asked in a low tone as he tilted my head to face him.
“Nothing,” I slapped his hand off my face like it burned, my body boiling with discomfort.
He immediately grabbed my hand, locking his fingers in mine. “If you are going to pretend to be in love with me, you have to start here. How dare you push your husband's hand off your face?”
I froze. It's true, if I broke any of the rules, I would have to pay five times the money I was given.
But there was a problem. I had never been in love before. How was I supposed to act like I loved him?
“I…” I swallowed, my throat tight. “I have never been in love. How do I act it out?”
His eyes grew wide. “You have never had a boyfriend?”
“Girlfriend,” I corrected. “And… no.”
How could I possibly date when my life was dedicated to working and taking care of my sister?
“I can teach you,” he offered, his thumb gently grazing my cheek.
I wanted to pull away.
Sigh.
I didn't have a choice now, did I?
He held both sides of my coat and pushed me against himself. “First of all, stop glaring at me.” A soft puff of air blew against my face as he spoke.
I immediately shifted my gaze. “That's better.” His hand stroked down my chest. “You should be comfortable with being touched by your husband.” He grabbed my hand and placed it against his. “And you should be eager to touch me too.”
My breaths lingered in the air, slow and steady. His eyes searched mine, but I instantly looked away as his lips drew closer.
He grabbed both sides of my shoulders and pushed me against the hard wall. “What? You can't kiss your own husband?”
I swallowed.
His hand rested on my chin and tilted it up while his lips drew closer to mine. I gazed at his pink lips. They seemed soft. Were they really?
As his lips hovered a few inches from mine, I quickly shut my eyes.
I waited for his lips to touch mine, but it didn't.
I slowly opened my eyes and saw him staring at me, his breathing, for some reason, was faster, his Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed. “This can wait,” he pulled away from me.
It's crazy, but I thought I felt a tiny bit of disappointment.
“I have an ally, an old friend who wanted me to marry his granddaughter to form a union. Aurora has a terrible personality, and well… I'm gay,” he slipped his hand into his pockets as he spoke. “They don't care that I don't like women. Aurora believes she can make me fall for her. She's desperate, so I had to marry a man to make her give up,” his gaze flickered to my lips and then back at my eyes.
“I thought it was only proper that I explained it to you,” he said. “Follow me,” he said as he began to walk down the hall.
I had thought he was going to taunt me about last night, thankfully, he didn't.
I quickly walked behind him. As we stepped out of the building, Silas suddenly froze. “Oh... shit,” he cursed.
I followed his gaze until mine caught a young lady in the distance. She was dressed in black suit. Her skirt was so tight it revealed her curves. Her hips swayed as she walked towards us, a stern look on her face, no… she was pissed, really pissed.
“Aurora…” Silas mumbled in frustration.
My brow raised. This was her?
Aurora's short blond hair bounced against her shoulders as she walked. Behind her were six men in suits. They were huge, just like the bouncers back at the club.
“You bastard!” Aurora yelled and tossed a letter at his face.
I took a step back as her gaze turned to meet mine, her blue eyes as cold as ice. “So it's true? You really married a man?” Her chest heaved, her gaze returning to meet Silas' gaze. “You chose him over me? And how could you tell me about your marriage over a letter!”
Silas moved to me and slipped his hand into mine. “I have been dating this man for over a year and we love each other. I had to tie the knot.”
“You…” her voice trailed off, her face turned tomato red. “My grandfather is going to be pissed!”
“Doesn't matter,” Silas spoke.
She groaned in frustration as she grabbed a gun from one of the men behind her. She cocked it and aimed it at me.
My breath hitched, fear pulsing through my veins.
Silas' hand squeezed mine. “If you do anything stupid, Aurora, I swear to God… I will rip you in pieces.”
Her gaze widened. “You are defending him? How are you, Silas, you have spat in my face, you dick!”
She aimed higher.
“Aurora!” He shouted, “Put the gun down!”
She hissed and turned the gun to face him. Instantly, Silas's men who were standing guard aimed their guns at her.
“It's okay,” he shouted, “Put your weapons down.”
Her brow raised and she scoffed, “What? You don't think I'll do it?”
He didn't respond; instead, he looked at me, “It's okay, I'm here.”
Why did his eyes look so warm? As if he genuinely cared?
No, of course if I was supposed to act like I loved him, he had to do the same.
I slowly nodded, but my whole body trembled.
Aurora let out a loud scream, “It's not over!” She spun around and began to walk off.
I let out a sharp exhale, relief flowing through me.
But she suddenly turned around, looking at me with hate in her eyes, she aimed the gun again, and yes, this time she fired.
The loud sound echoed through the air. At that moment, everything slowed down. I watched as the bullet flew towards me.
I only wanted to save my sister's life, but instead, it was about to cost me mine.
I shut my eyes, my heart pounding.
A hand suddenly wrapped around me, my eyes sprung open, and I saw him in front of me.
Silas.
He hugged me and took the bullet for me.
“Boss!” His men all shouted as he slumped to the ground.
My entire body trembled, and I took a step back.
He… took a bullet for me?

I couldn't explain how overwhelmed I was when the doctors told me that the tumor had been removed.I had gone to the hospital immediately after I left Silas's house; it was 12:00 midnight. They started immediately and finished at 4:00 in the morning.Emma had woken up hours later after the anesthetic had worn off. She still looked frail, her eyes were still yellow, but she spoke with life in her, and that gave me hope.“Where did you get the money, Arthur?” She asked in a low tone.I blinked. How could I tell her that I was married to a man?Even if I could, that would be breaching the contract I had signed; I couldn't tell anyone. “I took out another loan,” I said as I stroked her blond hair off the sides of her face. The doctors said she would have to stay seven more days so that they could watch her. I went out that day to clear all my debts and set myself free. But there was one issue: after clearing my debts, there was barely enough to send Emma back to school when she had fully
Silas’s compound was filled with men armed with guns, all dressed in black suits and with stern expressions on their faces.“The boss has been expecting you,” one of the men said, as he led me into the gigantic mansion.I looked around in awe. Silas Vance was indeed as wealthy as people rumored he was. His walls were decorated with paintings; he sure didn't seem like the art kind.On his ceilings were chandeliers engraved with literal gold. The air, though it smelled of cigars, also smelled expensive. As we reached the top floor, the man who had walked me here suddenly stopped. I turned to face him, a confused expression on my face, “Why did you stop?”He clasped both of his hands before him as he spoke, “The boss doesn't allow anybody on this side of the mansion, but he had requested that you should be let in when you come.” He stretched his hand in the direction of Silas' bedroom, “The last door in this hall, knock on it.”My gaze fell to his hips, and a cold shiver ran down my spin
Arthur's POV.One of the most powerful Mafia bosses in New York had just asked me to marry him.Yes, me.A straight guy who was just trying to make ends meet.Crazy, right?Well, I'll explain how I got here. Two years ago, both of my parents died in a car accident, and I was left to care for my little sister. I worked part-time jobs and took out loans, trying to make ends meet. Now I'm twenty-two years old, still struggling.Worse?Three weeks ago, my eleven-year-old sister was diagnosed with brain cancer, and two hundred thousand dollars had to be deposited before they could remove the tumor.I was heartbroken and frustrated.Where would I get such an amount of money? I barely made anything from my part-time job. I couldn't let my sister die, either.I had pleaded with the doctors to start the treatment and I'd pay them, but they had told me that they couldn't start unless I deposited.Luckily, a friend of mine hooked me up with a job at a night club as a waiter. The pay was not enou
