Married couple

Kate was able to  locate her target and she successfully retrieved the documents in the vault,  as she was getting ready to exit she heard someone is walking to direction.

She quickly hide behind one of the curtains. The shadow walks towards the painting on the wall and tap it. He raise  the painting and open the vault only to find it  empty.

"Damn!" he cursed. He search the room for anything that he can make use of. he open the drawers and found something and took it, as he  retreated to where he came from, he notice the unusual pattern on the curtain as the moonlight cast a shadow on the window. a silhouette of a person, to be precise it is a woman basing on the curves that its shadow is showing.

He quickly took his knife and abruptly pull the curtain sending Kaitlyn hurling towards him.  It was a good thing that she was able to control her fall before his knife hit her. 

She immediately retaliated by kicking  the hand holding the knife  sending it flying from his hand.

He turn and send her a blow which she was able to evade .

"Is  anyone there?". one of the guards heard the noise coming from the room and came to check. They both stopped and kept quiet. Just as the gust of wind  shook the window that Kate left open. 

Through the darkness the guard open the door to inspect.  He saw nothing , having a very fertile imagination it gave him goosebumps. His voice trembles when he speak again.

" Is anybody here?"

Douglas was controlling the call of nature to fart  it was released very slowly and sounded like a sigh.

The guard heard it thinking it was a ghost of the mayor returning to his domain, he run in panic away from the room. Kaitlyn and Douglas rolled in laughter keeping the sound of  their voices to a  minimum.

They were still silently laughing when they make their escape through the window into the darkness of trees surrounding the backyard of the house it was a good thing the moon was covered by dark clouds easing their movements under the cover of darkness . 

When they reached  a safe distance , they start their bickering.

"Give it to me!" Doug said.

"What!  am I loosing my mind , I work hard for it to just hand it to you as easy as that?" Kaitlyn said angrily.

"Kate do you know that your withholding evidence, and you can be charge by that? Besides what can  that be of used to you? Are you going to publish it ?" Doug  was getting pissed off.

"You don't have to lecture me of that. I know, we were classmates in jurisprudence. besides I got higher grades than you,  Mr know it all." Kaitlyn retaliated.

"Ha...h that's because you blackmailed the professor  when you caught him making out with  the professor of Physical Education."

"Douglas don't you  go accusing me,  if I know , you went on running around at her beck and call for Miss  Psychology to passed her subject." 

"That was because she caught your best friend cheating with my test paper thinking I let her copy my answers." he defended himself their battle of words continued on and on.

"I think you should stop your bickering before we will be discovered." Douglas's partner intervene.

They both starred at him and kept quiet. 

"OK , let's discuss this in my place." Doug suggested.

"Your place? ha..h. what's that make out of me ?  What if you trick me? I don't trust you, Mr Genius." she refused.

"Alright to my place, please stop  fighting! You sound like married couple." Dennis  once more kept them quiet.

"Okay!" They both agreed.

They head out to Denis's place to discuss about the things found in that house. 

"Look Kate, what are you going to do with those documents, we can put it to good use  hand it over to us." Doug asked. 

"Don't be silly  Mr genius, this is a good evidence  that can prove that Aunt Debbie had good plans for her children, if so, why would she jeopardize it by murdering her husband. There was no love between them .Their's was an arranged  marriage. She married him to give in to the wishes of her dying father. He married her for a good name and business connections. there's no 'love triangle' bullshit between them." Kaitlyn have her reason for refusing to hand in the documents.

" OK how will you utilize it? who will handle her case since her lawyer is connected with the underground criminals? " he said glaring at her.

"You sure of that? I suspected it so."  One of the things she admired about Doug is his dedication to his work they may have their differences but they can work together for a common goal.

"That's the very reason why  the investigation is dragging at turtle speed." His friend put in.

"We need to get her a new lawyer." Doug added."That's where you came in... You hire a new lawyer in her behalf since you are a relative it wouldn't be suspicious. " 

" There's are still some documents I have to acquire from him before we do that."she said. 

"No need all her pertinent papers had been destroyed by her lawyer." Dennis put in.

"What! I can't believed it! that traitor." she was shocked and wondered. "Where do we go from here?" 

"Well it's a good thing we were able to retrieved the originals and exchange it with duplicates." Ss he wave the papers  and memory card at her.

"Oh Doug!!!  you surely is a genius." she was so overwhelmed and give him a hug . Denis's was used to their cat-dog  relationship they grew up together that he didn't mind what he witnessed but for Doug it stirred a feeling that he has been trying to suppress for sometime.

Aside from their bickering and fights that sometimes resulting to being physical in nature. He is  attracted to this bully in front of him. She is beautiful  a face of an angel and a sexy body, tall long sexy legs, her skin is so fine that her pores are not so visible. and the biggest asset is her face expressive brown eyes. perfectly arch brows. perfectly shaped nose , and her plump cherry lips that made him wonder how does it feel to kiss them, her wavy dark brown hair just added to her almost perfect face. Except for her ears  makes him wonder maybe that is why she became a reporter because no news can escape her wide open ears. He chuckled at the thought.

"What's funny?" she asked.

"Nothing!!!" He was grinning giving Kaitlyn the idea that he found something amusing on her.

"Oh, come on!!!  I can see you're laughing at me Pinocchio." she angrily demanded.

"Well I think that you are a very good reporter because no news can escape your ears." As he ducked evading the ashtray that came flying to his direction,  as he burst out laughing. 

"You,,,"  as she chase him around the room. Denis sigh.

" How can we work things out when you keep acting like children. " They both stop and guiltily look at him.

"It's him! who started it." Kaitlyn said accusing Douglas.

"You asked. I'm just being honest. I'm sorry Kaithy dear." He apologize seriously.

"Sorry my foot!!!" but she calm down, at the endearment, that he uses to address her when he is serious.

"Alright shall we continue?" Dennis asked.

"Yes!!!"  They answered in unison. They all set out to workplans, assign themselves to the task they called 'Free Deborah'.

On the other hand little did they know that  Doug has been the next target of the underground criminals.

"I want that cop eliminate him ASAP, he's been getting in the way of our business. Two of our shipment has been intercepted by his team in just two weeks. I want him out if the picture before our biggest shipment next month. Is it clear?" He yelled at his subordinates.

"Yes boss!!!". his men agreed in unison.
