Chapter Cloud Nine

Bayne POV

I took the tray of coffees and muffins over to the table for us to enjoy while we talked about any ongoing theories and new suspicions. My wolf Knox is all over the place inside my head, spouting nonsense I can’t understand since he wont calm down. Ryker started us off.

“What do we think?”

“She hasn’t said anything incriminating. I haven’t scented a lie. Only disappointment in her boyfriend.” My wolf growls in my head at that. Then he says the one thing I least expected him to say as I take a quick glance over and smile toward her.

“Mine.” I tune out to have an internal exchange with Knox.

“What did you just say?””

“Mine.” He repeated.

“Who?”

“Mate. Standing right there.”

“You gotta be F-ing kidding me.”

“We must go talk to her.”

“What? I cant. You do realize she is a suspect in a multiple missing persons case, and you want me to blow my cover to talk to her.”

“She’s innocent. How dare you accuse our mate of such a thing.” Knox says, growling.
