When their limousine car arrived in front of Hermann's residence, he stood staring at the building all over. This was far from what he imagined earlier. While on the way, he imagined what Hermann's building would look like, and now he was disappointed. He thought it would be much more grandiose than the residences of his two extended families in Italy, but it turned out to be much smaller than he thought. Only one thing caught his eye, a statue of a mermaid holding a large ball—who knew what it was—as a decoration of the fountain in front of Hermann's residence.

His maternal grandfather only gave a classic touch to the fountain at the Aldebrando residence during the four years he spent there.
