“Get your hands off my wife!”

Ren retreats swiftly as if caught in a whirlwind of panic. “Wife?” The question is directed at me, but I'm too busy locking eyes with Mr. Aloof because how dare he? “You're married?” Disbelief is clear in Ren's voice.

“Take a look at her finger, pretty boy.” Dominic grits out, “Take a perfect look at it.”

“He's not a pretty boy, and I'm not your wife,” I manage through clenched teeth.

“Tough shit. That ring on your finger says otherwise.”

“It's fiancée.”

“Same difference,” he retorts with a smug smirk, and something tells me he's throwing my words back at me.

Beside me, Ren stands awkwardly, uncertain whether to stay or make a hasty exit. I'm touched that he still dares to stand here with Dominic confronting him like a possessive alpha male. “Uhm, should I stay?”

“Yes.”

“No.” We both answered at the same time. Ren hesitates, looking at me with wide eyes. I nod, and he winks before bolting away as if his life depended on it.
