DOMINICK'S POV ~

"What happened to her?" I asked no one in particular, my hand almost flying to my mouth in shock as I stared at the unconscious Leila.

My heart pounded in my chest as I took in her sight. Her beautiful neck, which I always sniffed and rested my head on, was now marred by thin streaks of blood.

My heart shook in my ribcage and I fought the urge to pull her into my chest to draw out warmth and give it to her, but I couldn't under the gazes of everyone in the ward.

Her pale skin was mottled with dark purple bruises. A ghastly ring of dried blood encircled her neck, the deep marks of the chain signaling a horrific strangulation. The blood around it was crusted.

"What the hell happened?!" I snapped, rage engulfing me as my fists clenched. I swore with my blood, I would kill the asshole who dared raise his hands on her.

"Alpha..." Matteo quickly corrected himself, "Sir—" and I glared with utmost fury.

"Fucking speak!" I snapped at him and saw his shoulders tense.
