Chapter Three - Giving in to temptation

Rebecca

Everyone was getting along excellent, for a group of people who only met an hour ago it was going well like we have known each other for years—the conversation involving talking nonsense to talking about sex.

“We should probably stop the sex talk, Jake hasn’t been laid in months,” Josh laughed.

“Really dude? You had to share that?” Jake said, shaking his head.

“Sorry, but it is true,” Josh said, holding his hands up.

“Yes, but you don’t need to tell the full world,” He said, “I need another drink,” He added, laughing and walking away.

“Has it really been that long for him?” I asked.

“Yes, poor guy,” He said, “I don’t even know why he is still with her; she treats him like crap, and he deserves better,” He added.

“What is wrong with her? If Jake were my man, I would be jumping him any chance that I got,” I said, and then quickly covered my mouth.

That was not supposed to come out. I was only supposed to be thinking it, not saying it. It was true, though, but that was something I did not need to share with everyone.

“I don’t know why you two never hooked up,” Josh said.

“Because I had a boyfriend, he had a girlfriend, one which he still has,” I said, “I am not that sort of girl,” I added.

Yes, I disliked Lauren, and he deserved way better, but I am not one to go after another women’s, man.

“Maybe you are just what he needs to get him away from her,” Josh smirked.

“Are you trying to pimp me out to your friend?” I giggled.

“No, just trying to encourage you,” He said, winking at me, “The sexual tension between you both is ridiculous,” He added.

“That tension has been there for a long time,” Paula said.

“As long as Jake has a girlfriend, nothing is happening, OK?” I said firmly, looking at them all.

They all held their hands up, nodding. Thank God, because I do not want Jake to come back, and we are in the middle of this conversation. Just as the conversation ended, Jake arrived back, with a tray of shots in his hand.

“Now who is trying to get who drunk?” I said, looking at him.

“You started it,” He laughed, sitting down next to me.

Jake passed the shots out to everyone. I was the last one he came to with the shots.

“For you, gorgeous,” He whispered, winking at me.

I thanked him with a smile, taking them and drinking them straight away. He needed to stop calling me gorgeous and whatever else. He has been acting a little strange around me tonight. I don’t know; maybe it was because he was drinking. Whatever it was, I wish he would stop because it isn’t making things easy for me. I was already attracted to him enough, without all that on top of it. And when I am drunk, I loss common sense, and I do not want to do that around him. Yes, I said I am not that sort of girl, but we all know how alcohol can cause a personality change if you drink enough of it. Maybe I should slow down my drinking.

                                                 ***

I had slowed my drinking down as planned, but I was still having a great night. Jake had continued to, well what I can only explain to flirt with me. I was enjoying his attention, more than I should be. And flirting back, more than I should be.

“I am going for a cig, be back soon,” I said.

I was a social smoker. I only smoked when I was drinking, no other time. It was a strange habit, but a habit all the same.

“I will join you,” Jake said.

I nodded, grabbing my cigs, and we headed out. We made our way through the crowds, finally getting outside. We headed over to hide under the entrance of a shop, out of the way of everyone else. I rested against the wall, taking a cig out, and handing him one too.

“Do you have a light?” I asked, popping the cig into my mouth.

“Yes,” He said, stepping in closer to me.

He was only inches away from my body. He slipped his hand into his pocket and pulling a lighter out. I was expecting him to give me a light, but he changed his mind. He closed the small space between us, and I whimpered with the closeness.

“Jake, what, what are you doing?” I stuttered out.

He pulled the cig from my mouth.

“Something I should have done a long time ago,” He said.

“That…” I started but never got to finish.

He had covered my lips with his before I could say anything more. I gasped, not expecting to feel his lips on mine. I never kissed back, not at first, but the longer his lips were on mine, the temptation became harder to fight. I slipped my arms around his neck, kissing him back. Oh, wow, his lips, they are incredible. Soft and warm. I moaned into the kiss, grabbing his tee and pulled him as tight against me as I possibly could.

One of his hand fell on my cheek, and the other gripped my hip, holding me to him as we kissed. The kissed becoming heated, very quickly. My fingers found their way into his hair, tugging at it as we kissed, Jake, groaning into my lips. I knew I shouldn’t be doing this, but this kiss was like nothing else I have felt. It is like all the tension that has built up between us over the years was coming out in this one kiss.

I pulled away, only because I needed to breathe. His kiss had made me breathless, literally.

“Why would you do that?” I breathed out.

“Because I wanted to,” He said, “I have wanted to do it for a long time, no matter how wrong I know it is,” He added.

“So you just thought you would go for it?” I said, raising my brow at him.

“Should I not have?” He asked, panic on his face.

“Mmm, I don’t know if you should have,” I said, “But I am glad that you did,” I added, biting on my lower lip.

Yeah, yeah, it was wrong, but it happened, nothing can change that.

“You are?” He asked a hint of a smirk on his lips.

I nodded, licking my lips. I wanted him badly to do it again, but I wasn’t going to push. I was the single one, he is not, so me pushing it would be unfair. He sighed and took a step back.

“I am going back inside, you coming?” He spoke.

I could see that regret had overtaken his face. I sighed, shaking my head and turned away from him. Jake never said another word before he walked away, heading back inside.

He was the one that kissed me! I never asked him too! I never made the first move; he did! Yet, he is the one that walks away. I was annoyed, and I probably don’t have the right. Of course, he regrets it; he still has a girlfriend.

I found a lighter in my bag, having my cig and hoping that would calm me down. I took longer than usual to have it because I wasn’t ready to go in. After ten minutes, I headed back in before my friends send out a search party for me.

“You took your time,” Paula giggled.

“I was enjoying it,” I giggled, sitting down.

I never looked at Jake as I did; instead, I grabbed my drink. I am going to try my best to avoid him for the rest of the night. I needed to try and get that kiss out of my head, that was hard to do when I could still feel it on my lips.

I was not as excited about the night as I was earlier because I have a feeling it was going to be slightly awkward now.
