DAHLIA
Unable to sleep, I quietly made my way towards the kitchen since I was thirsty. The kitchen was dark, so I switched on the lights."Thirsty?"I turned around with a start. Red was sitting on one of the stools with his back to me. He was shirtless and had a pair of grey sweatpants on with a necklace around his neck."Don't do that, you nearly gave me a heart attack" I scolded. He turned to look at me, a small smile on his face. "Sorry, didn't mean to" he said, biting his lower lip."It's okay... I was just thirsty" I said, taking out a bottle of water."What about you?" I asked."Couldn't sleep" he mumbled, staring at the bottle of water on the kitchen counter."You okay?" I asked, sitting down on a stool close to him.He sighed and closed his eyes, rubbing his temples."I don't know""Do you want to talk about it?" I asked. He sighed."It's just... I can't stop thinking about my mum. She wentRED I was slowly loosing it as I paced back and forth in Kevin's study. My mind was still reeling from the information I'd just gotten. I didn't want to believe it.That monster can't be my father. There has to be some sort of mistake. "I know you're having a hard time taking it in. It's the truth no matter how painful it sounds."I stared at the small wooden box on the desk. I didn't want this. I didn't want to know what my mum wanted me to know. I didn't want to hate her. I just couldn't. This would change everything. "You should take the box""No" I rapsed, running a hand through my messy hair."It's very important for you to know the whole details if you must find a way out of this mess".I shook my head, swallowing hard. "No, I just can't..."Kevin walked up to me, gazing right into my eyes."You're scared"I stared at him. Somehow, he'd caught me off guard with that statement. "I'm not. I'm
DAHLIA I rubbed my eyes tiredly as I made my way to the kitchen to grab a coffee.Kevin was sitting on the stool, sipping a cup of coffee."Morning, Sugar" He said, grinning at me."Morning, Kevin""Lemme guess.... Coffee?"I raised a brow."Help yourself to it"I poured myself a cup of coffee and sat down on a stool."You spoke to Red yesterday" he said, smiling."Well, I did what I could do" I shrugged."You did a nice thing, Dahlia. He came to my study. and told me he had changed his mind" I shrugged again, trying not to look too pleased."What I want to ask you, is if you would join him on his quest""Look, Red saved my life. I owe him one. If it's the least I can do, I'll be with him all the way"Kevin grinned, his eyes twinkling mischievously."You have no idea what it would mean for him. He's starting to grow fond of y
RED I stepped out of my room, running a hand through my hair. My mind clouded with several thoughts. I walked into the sitting room still feeling exhausted. "Morning, Red" Kevin said, grinning at me."Morning" I said, avoiding his eyes. I was still quite confused about my mum's message. Whatever was her reason to be suspicious about him, I desperately wanted to figure it out. Why and how wasn't he trustworthy? Kevin was at least thirty years older than was am and he didn'tn't seem to be the deceitful type. Or was he just really good at pretending?"Here, sit down" he said, patting the space beside him on the couch.Eyeing the spot, I stepped forward hesitantly."I don't bite, come on"Rolling my eyes, I sat down on the couch."I heard you were able to discover something, yesterday" he said and I clenched my fist, putting on an expressionless facade."Not exactly" I said, biting my lower lip.
DAHLIA I can't believe I kissed him. How could I have done that? I'm engaged!I heaved a sigh, rubbing my eyes. No doubt, Red's attractive but I can't have feelings for him. He doesn't believe in love or relationships, so what's the need for it?My phone vibrated. It was a message from Tori.Get your ass to the sitting room right now and stop sulking around in the kitchen! We're about to leave. The tree house, remember?I rolled my eyes and slipped my phone into the front pocket of my jeans.I walked into the sitting room, avoiding Red's gaze."Oh great, she's here finally" Tori said, smirking at me.Lee raised a brow as he glanced from Red to me."Let's go" Red said, leading the way. We got into the car and he drove off."What was that?" Lee whispered from beside me."What?""What's going on between you two?""Nothing" I blurted immediat
RED My heart thudded madly as I sped towards Kevin's home. I couldn't help but feel terrified. How on Earth did he get his hands on Lia? She was right there under the tree house a while ago. "Keep calm, Red. Don't let him know he's getting to you. We can leave the basement with no one getting hurt" Lee said to me."Well, I want to kill him with my bare hands" I said as we got out of the car."Let's go in" Tori said, taking out her gun.We cautiously stepped into the basement. It was creepy and dark. There were dried blood stains on the walls and floor. My stomach churned uncomfortably at the thought of Lia being tortured. "There you are" Kevin said when we found him.Lia was bound to the chair, gagged. She kept shaking her head frantically, her eyes filling up with tears."Let her go!" I said."Oh, Lia. Your Knight in leather jacket has finally arrived!" Kevin said with a sick smile on his face.
DAHLIA 'Arch'So that's his name. It suits him. Red or should I say, Arch frowned as the information sank in."Wait, w-what?" Arch and his twin brother chorused, their eyes wide with shock and confusion."I-I don't understand, Nana. You never told me I had a sibling. But, a twin, seriously?" Axel said."Why don't you come closer, Sweetheart. We need to talk" Arch's grandma said to Axel."Right" he mumbled before wheeling himself into the sitting room. "Arch, darling. You should sit down. You look drained" Quietly, he sat down on the couch. "You three should stay calm while I get you guys something to drink. Girls, come with me" Tori and I followed her to the kitchen."Oh and please call me Theresa" Arch's grandma said. "Of course"We ordered pizza and soon we were all settled around the round table."You see, your mother had a lot of secrets. Some of them, she shared with me. You must understand
DAHLIA "What's with the look on your face?" Tori said, plopping down on the bed."What look?" I asked, feigning indifference."You look like you're daydreaming and there's a creepy smile on your face, Lia" she said, smiling.I rolled my eyes, biting down on my lip."You're being ridiculous" I said. "Tell me, what happened between you and Red?" She asked."What are you talking about?""Don't try to put on the 'I don't know what you're talking about' face" I let out a sigh."We kissed. Twice""Wow, that's quite the achievement" Tori said, smirking."Can you not say that? Lee would totally say the same thing you said. It's annoying" I said."He's my better half, we say similar things. Soon, you'll understand. But right now, let's face the real deal. Do you have feelings for Red?""Yes, I do. I was trying to fight it all along because I'm engaged. Being on
RED I let out a groan as I opened my eyes. My head was pounding and I felt a very intense nausea roll through my system. I slowly sat up on the couch, my head spinning."Hey, calm down. With how drunk you were last night, you're bound to have a horrible hangover" Lia said, placing a hand on my shoulder.I stared at her silently, afraid that if I tried to say anything, I would puke."I need- to use- the bath-room" I croaked, bile rising up my throat rapidly. She helped me up, steadying me as I swayed. She placed a hand on the small of my back as she led me to the bathroom. Tiredly, I got into the bathroom, puking my brains out until I felt so empty. "You should take your bath, you'll feel better" she said. My knees buckled and her eyes widened as I slid down the wall. She rushed to my side, placing her palm on my forehead. "Red, you're burning up" I closed my eyes, taking deep breaths. I felt aw
