Chapter 2

Author: Meat Lover
Back when Samantha and I joined the company together, she had chased after me relentlessly.

She said I was talented and handsome.

After we got married, I poured my heart into caring for her in every possible way.

Not only did I hand over all my salary, but I even took on side jobs to help support the household.

However, what I got in return was Samantha cheating without restraint.

At home, she wrapped herself up tight.

But at the office, she dressed flashily, frequently going in and out of Thomas’ office. Sometimes she stayed inside for an entire day.

Now, she couldn’t wait for me to bring up divorce just to be able to cling to Thomas.

Even if it meant being the other woman, she was willing.

I glanced at her outfit, dressed like some club hostess, and smiled.

Since she enjoyed the player lifestyle so much, I’ll make sure she experiences what it feels like to be worse off than dead and completely disgraced.

“It’s not that pretty, really. It’s only because it’s Christmas, and Thomas asked me to liven the mood.

“Even my husband has never had the benefit of seeing me like this.”

As she spoke, she looked at me with interest.

My coworkers’ gazes stuck to me, clearly enjoying the spectacle.

I remained expressionless. Whether anger or shouting, those were reactions of the weak.

Did they still think I was the same man from my previous life, who only knew how to give without expecting anything in return?

“Alright, it was just a joke, but someone actually got upset.

“Don’t cry. Crying on Christmas would ruin the mood.”

Thomas said, already stuffing a cash envelope into Samantha’s hand.

“Wow, a fifty-thousand bonus! Mr. Clark really loves you!”

Looking at her bonus, Samantha threw herself into his arms, hugging him for a long time before reluctantly letting go.

Once she saw I showed no reaction, she said unhappily, “Honey, I was just too excited from winning. Don’t take it to heart.”

“Okay,” I nodded.

She was like a worn-out shoe, anyway. Whoever wants it can have it.

“Reed, you’re the only one freeloading here. Go bring in the Christmas tree from the entrance.

“I had that custom-made in Oregon. Be careful when you carry it. It’s more valuable than your life.”

I said nothing and walked downstairs.

When I saw the Christmas tree, I paused, thoughtful, then made a call.

“A yacht? That sounds like so much fun. Mr. Clark, I’ve never been on one before. Can you take me with you?”

Samantha looked charming as she crouched between Thomas’ legs, pleading softly.

“I want to go too, Mr. Clark. You can’t just take care of Samantha. We deserve some attention, too.”

Inside the office, Thomas attracted the female employees like honey draws bees.

When he saw me come in, he shifted forward slightly and waved his hand.

“Of course. This is a Christmas reward for all of you.”

“Dancing on a yacht helps you relax completely. And the night view at sea makes for perfect selfies.”

When our eyes met, his were full of disgust.

“You’re the only one who hasn’t drawn a cash envelope yet. Hurry up. Stop dragging your feet and delaying our Christmas.”

I curled my lips into a faint smile. There were still quite a few envelopes left in Thomas’ hand, but they were probably all overtime vouchers.

“I’ll take this one.”

I reached out, took one, and slipped it into my pocket.

Thomas’ expression immediately darkened, displeased.

“This is a Christmas gift. Open it now. Even the women here understand basic manners better than you.

“I really don’t understand how we ended up hiring trash like you.”

After opening it, the words “24-Hour Overtime Voucher” came into view.

It was exactly the same as my previous life.

“How interesting. Trash has such bad luck even when drawing.

“Did you walk under a ladder or something?”

Hearing my words, Samantha seemed to have been struck at her weak point. Her eyes dropped to the ground.Thomas' eyes, on the other hand, turned bloodshot, and fine beads of sweat formed on his forehead.“That’s just your bad luck. So what if you drew an overtime envelope? Which of you saw me cheating?”The female coworkers, stirred up by the boss, flushed red and began cursing.“Are you insane? You couldn’t even keep your wife, and now you’re causing trouble here!”“Exactly. You’re always paranoid. Look at yourself! You burned the company and still have the nerve to make accusations!”“Samantha, hurry up and divorce him. With a husband like this, your life will be miserable.”Maya crossed her arms, spitting as she spoke.“You piece of trash. Thomas has already explained everything to me. You think you can use this to drive a wedge between us?“I’ll make you experience what it’s like to lose everything!”Listening to the insults, I smiled.I unhurriedly took out a video reco

“Ah!”She let out a piercing scream and fainted.Thomas, burning with rage, rushed over and shouted.“Are you out of your mind? She told you to burn it, and you actually did it? I’ll have your whole family killed!”Seeing this, Samantha supported the dazed Thomas, crying uncontrollably.“Reed, how could you be so vicious? You couldn’t succeed yourself, so you burned the company. Do you know how many people you’ve just taken food away from?“Girls, let’s throw him into the sea together and let this animal fend for himself!”At Samantha’s call, some were moved, but no one dared step forward. They were all women; no one wanted to get involved.Losing the job wasn’t the end of the world. After all, when they first joined, Thomas had promised tenfold compensation.Seeing no one respond, Samantha roared unwillingly, “The livelihoods of over a thousand employees are gone. You’ll be cursed to death by everyone!”Her clownish posture was fully exposed as I lit a cigarette and took a

The female coworkers, quick to follow the tide, all chimed in.“Exactly. Samantha just got tired from having fun and wanted to go back to rest, and you brought Mrs. Clark here to frame innocent people.”“Are you even human? That’s your wife. No wonder you’ll never make money in your life.”“Mrs. Clark is amazing. This kind of scum should’ve been fired long ago. Keeping him even one more day is a huge loss for the company.”They spoke one after another. My dismissal was already a done deal.Samantha seemed to have forgotten the humiliation she had just suffered. She turned to the crowd and raised her hand.“Ma’am, not only should he be fired, but I want to add one more charge.“Reed used you as a tool to inflict domestic violence on me.”“Ladies, wouldn’t you agree?”The group, all in on it together, nodded.“That’s right. If it weren’t for him, none of this would’ve happened today.”“Girl, I support you. Make him leave with nothing!”“I never saw it before. Who would’ve e

Thomas kneeled on the ground, his whole body trembling uncontrollably. However, before he could say a single word, Samantha rushed out, wrapped in a bath towel, her stockings torn and in disarray. Her eyes were filled with concern.“Thomas, you… What happened to you? Who are you? How dare you hit my man?! Are you looking to die?!”“Slap! Slap! Slap!”“Shameless woman, who gave you the courage to talk to me like that?!”Maya swung her arm and slapped Samantha repeatedly across the left side of her face.“Ah! Thomas, save me! Where did this disgusting fat woman come from? Help!”Samantha cried and begged, which only made Maya hit her even harder. She didn’t stop until the handprint was clearly imprinted on Samantha’s face.“You shameless woman! I’m the rightful lady of the house, brought home by Thomas in a grand wedding!“Thomas, care to explain?”Cold sweat poured down his face. His mind had already gone blank. The women who had once been Samantha’s close friends stood ar

[Dad, Mom, something big has happened. Call the police!]I threw Samantha’s coat onto the shore, took a photo, and sent it to Nancy. My phone rang immediately. After waiting a moment, I answered.“Reed, what’s going on? Why is Samantha’s coat at the seaside?!“What happened? Tell me now!”On the other end, Nancy cried out in panic.I remembered clearly that she had bought this coat for Samantha just two days ago. It was said to be quite expensive. Not only had she given the coat, but she had also lectured me thoroughly that day.Her disdain for my poverty was still vivid.“Sigh. Mom, I don’t know either.“I just finished working overtime. I saw a note on Samantha’s desk saying she wanted to go to the pier to clear her head. She hasn’t answered her phone for five hours, so I came to check.“I didn’t expect to find this coat.”A wail came through the phone as Nancy cursed.“You useless animal! You can’t even keep an eye on your own wife. You deserve to die!”“I’m calling th

Everyone burst into laughter, piling onto Thomas' mockery.“Mr. Clark, maybe he should pray devoutly before drawing again.”“I feel even worse for Samantha now, having such a useless husband. If it were me, I’d divorce him immediately.”Samantha’s eyes were full of expectation, as if she couldn’t wait for me to say those two words and head straight to the courthouse.Of course, after a divorce, the assets would be split in half. She had probably been thinking about that for a long time. The atmosphere turned awkward for a moment. Seeing how out of place I was, Thomas spoke coldly.“Reed, you’ve worked hard. Since it’s the holidays, act like it. Just stay and work overtime.”“But Samantha’s coming out with us tonight. You understand, right?“And if you don’t, what can you even do?”Samantha rolled her eyes at me, full of irritation.“This poor loser doesn’t even know what a yacht is. I’m definitely going with Mr. Clark today to experience it properly.”I agreed calmly. “Don’t
