Rainee saw Alex coming out of her office with a long face, his shoulders sagging under the weight of disappointment. The moment their eyes met, she thought things weren’t going according to their plan.

“What happened? Will she stay?”

He lifted his head slowly, his expression both sad and conflicted.

“She doesn’t believe us. She thinks you’re lying just to provoke her. She said she’ll leave next week. She doesn’t care about m-me… or my affairs. What should we do now?”

His voice cracked on the last words, betraying just how fragile he was in that moment. Rainee softened, her heart tugging painfully at the sight of him like this. She hadn’t expected to ever meet someone who had to beg for love and attention from their own family, it seemed cruel, unfair.

“How could she not care? If she truly didn’t, she wouldn’t have come at all. Let’s think of something else, hmm?”

Her gaze was gentle, empathetic, and it made him look away almost immediately. Something deep inside urged him to stop thi

Present He tried his best to smile while looking into her eyes. He tried to hide his disappointment that she was keeping something from him, but he couldn’t even blame her for it. He deserved it. What could he expect after doing those horrible things to her? Why would she trust him enough to tell him everything she wanted from him? “Do you mean it? Do you really mean what you just said?” She looked away at the sunset, taking a deep breath. “What do you think? Why would I say something like this if I didn’t mean it?” “Look at me.” He gently grabbed her chin and turned her face towards him so she could meet his eyes while they spoke. “Say it again. I’ll believe you. I’ll believe everything you say, ...., even if it’s not true.” Her pupils dilated at his words. She swallowed hard as tears welled in her eyes. “I like you, Alex.” “Then you should know you can’t escape after coming into my life. Once we’re in a relationship, I won’t let you leave, even if you want to. Even if you

"It's done." He came out of his trance and cleared his throat, trying to release the tension that only he felt deep inside his heart. ____ One week later “For how long are we going to stay here?” Rainee asked as they walked along the shore to watch the sunset, just as they had the day before. For days, they had lived freely, laughing, enjoying, and having fun together without worrying about anything. “Until your tests come out negative,” Alex replied calmly. She knew exactly what test he meant, and there was no way she could escape from it after Henry Johnson’s statement. Alex wasn’t willing to take any risks by going back to the States before every trace of that drug was gone from her body. “I like this place,” Rainee murmured, her eyes fixed on the horizon. “I love it... I wish I could stay here all my life.” Alex smiled at her words. “If you want this island, I’ll give it to you. You can come here anytime you want.” She looked at him seriously, a small smile tugging at he

“You have trapped me successfully, Alex Fraser.” Rainee’s voice was quiet but firm, her eyes reflecting a storm of emotions she could no longer conceal. No matter how much she wanted to deny it, she simply couldn’t. She had promised herself she would always be honest with her own heart, no matter how terrifying that honesty might be. And now, here she was, facing the truth. She wasn’t afraid of her feelings. She was ready to embrace them, even if it meant getting hurt, because at least she would know she hadn’t lied to herself. ____ The next morning, the sound of soft waves and the distant cries of seagulls filled the villa with a calming melody. Rainee sat on the couch, sipping her tea, and her laughter echoed like music through the room as Alex stretched his stiff muscles. His exaggerated groans and the way he pressed a hand to his lower back made him look more like a grumpy old man than the intimidating Alex Fraser everyone else feared. He shot her a glare, though his dark ey

“Do you mind if I stay in this room with you?” Rainee’s eyes widened slightly at his question. Panic flickered in them, mixed with weariness and the faint shadow of fear she hadn’t been able to shake off since everything had begun. She glanced down at her hand, the same hand that had been trembling moments ago. Now, nestled securely in his grip, it was steady, as if his presence alone had forced her restless body to surrender its weakness.“I won’t take the bed,” he continued gently, sensing her hesitation. “It’s all yours. I’ll just sit here and talk with you until you fall asleep. This way, you won’t have to think about anything else. Hmm?”Her lips pressed together as she searched his eyes, looking for any hint of pretense. But she found none. Vulnerable and exhausted, she gave him a small nod. A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, soft and reassuring, before he carefully pulled the blanket over her. Even as he tucked her in, his hand refused to let go of hers, the grip stea

She almost chuckled at the thought of him considering porridge right now. She felt a little better after realizing he wasn’t making a face or showing disgust. She got up and washed her hands and face. "I’ll help you this time. You aren’t a very good cook." She smiled at him, and he smiled back. Even though they weren’t in a very good situation, they kept trying to lighten the mood. His heart swelled with admiration seeing her so strong, even after going through something so terrible just a day ago. For the rest of the day, she taught him how to peel vegetables and cut them into cubes or different sizes and shapes. She laughed whenever a vegetable slipped through his hands, and he tried to catch it but ended up failing. "Bhahahahah... you keep shooting them like bullets!" "Stop laughing... I’m trying." He grabbed the kitchen knife again, practicing with so many butterflies in his stomach. He felt so good hearing her laugh so freely and happily for the first time, yet he kept his

"Do you want some water?" He tried to change the topic, and she nodded her head. He poured her a glass of water and helped her drink it slowly. She was frowning the entire time, and he guessed she must be feeling a headache and some fatigue from being drugged."You should lie down and close your eyes. I’ll get something light for you to eat."_____He stepped out of the room and found Rowan sitting on the couch, reading a magazine. Rowan looked up when he saw Alex coming out before standing."I’ve left some medicines in case she feels nauseous or has a headache. But avoid giving her anything strong for sleep, rest is much safer right now. Give her light, easy-to-digest foods: porridge, fruit, or soup. Keep her hydrated. Alcohol and heavy foods are off-limits. She might feel a little disoriented, tired, or emotional, just be patient. If she vomits a lot or becomes very drowsy or confused, call me immediately.""Got it… anything else I should know?""That should cover it. You made the
