(Vivian’s POV)

I twirled the spatula and smiled with satisfaction as the aroma of garlic and butter filled the kitchen.

The chicken I'd mixed with rosemary and lemon was now golden on the pan, its skin beginning to crisp.

In the next pot, the fettuccine pasta was almost perfectly cooked, ready to be topped with the mushroom cream sauce I'd made from scratch.

It's not too complicated, but it's enough to show a little care. At least I didn't let him starve after... What happened this morning?

"It's like he never looks really tired. Last night we did, then this morning and... after he came back from his morning run... he really looked fit and energetic."

I couldn't lie to myself that I was lulled by the charisma he showed unintentionally. If I'm being honest, maybe this liking is already in the middle stage, but I don't know how it will end, I'm just resigned.

"Damn it, Vivian! Focus on your goals! Take back your assets and get a divorce from your bastard husband!" I reminded myself agai

(Vivian’s POV)“I have done what you asked, so stop considering me an enemy.”I stared at Willem’s text message, expressionless. The corners of my lips didn’t twitch. My heartbeat didn’t falter. It was just another message—polite, concise, unnecessary in sentiment. My thumbs moved quietly over the screen.“Thank you. And also, I never considered you an enemy.”Because it was true.I had never hated Willem. I didn’t even hate Kai.In fact, it was because I loved him that I chose to leave his life. All of it was for the sake of both of us. A love that would never bloom into something beautiful was better left behind before it rotted us both from the inside.I had done what I came to do. I stayed by his side, through his fever and feverish whispers of my name. I held his hand, let him hold mine. His fingers wouldn’t let go, his skin burning against mine, his voice murmuring like a broken prayer I was never meant to hear.He kept calling me.Even in his sleep. And I couldn’t sleep because

(Vivian’s POV)I sat in silence. The lamp beside the sofa cast a dim glow over the living room, soft enough to blur the edges of everything, including my own thoughts. The room was quiet now, save for the subtle sound of Kai’s breathing—uneven and raspy, with the fever still clinging to him like a ghost. My white dress had a faint smear of red where he’d clung to me earlier, and for some reason, I hadn’t bothered to change. It didn’t matter. I wasn’t here to stay.My eyes lingered on Kai’s face. His brows were furrowed in his sleep, lips parted as if murmuring something I couldn’t hear. His skin was flushed, too warm, too pale. He looked like someone who hadn’t reste

(Vivian’s POV)The moment I stepped inside Bar Haven, I saw it.Him.Kai.His tall frame slouched in a chair like a broken statue, hand drenched in dried blood, eyes glassy and unfocused. His usual tailored shirt was half open, sweat clinging to his skin. The bar was eerily quiet—too quiet for a place like this. No customers, no music. Just silence, tension, and a room full of staff who looked too afraid to even breathe near him.Willem walked up to me in surprise, brows lifted. “You… came.”He clearly didn’t expect it. To be honest, I didn’t either. When he called, I said I didn’t care. I even meant it—at least I thought I did.“What happened?” I asked calmly, scanning the space before landing my eyes back on Kai.Willem exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck. “He got into a fight with a guest. Said something about the guy being too close or whatever. Glass shattered. He wouldn’t let anyone treat the wound, and now—” He looked at Kai, helpless. “I think he has a fever too. He wouldn’t

(Kai’s POV)I stood in front of the now-empty building—Vivian’s studio. The name sign was gone, and the windows were bare, like a heart stripped of its soul. A “For Sale” banner fluttered slightly in the breeze, mocking me with its silent message: She’s really gone.My jaw clenched.I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialled a number. The call connected instantly.“Follow her,” I said coldly. “She left an hour ago. I want to know where she’s staying. Find out everything—where she lives, who she’s with, her daily routine.”“Yes, Sir,” came the immediate reply.“And find out if this building’s been bought. I want the name of the buyer.”“Yes, Mr. Reyes.”I hung up without another word.I didn’t move. I just stood there like a fool, staring at the place that used to be filled with her laughter, her stubborn voice, her scent. Everything about her had become a ghost I couldn’t shake off.I had no right to still want her.I told her I didn’t believe in love.I told her I couldn’t give h

(Vivian’s POV)The moment I sat inside the car, I closed my eyes and took a long breath—one that was meant to calm the storm inside me, but all it did was make me feel even more suffocated.Martha sat beside me, silent for a moment before asking gently, “Miss Vivian… are you okay?”I opened my eyes and looked at her. She was watching me with genuine concern, her brows furrowed, her lips pressed tightly. She had worked for me for so many years—loyal, professional, and more than that… someone I could trust.“I’m okay,” I said, even though my voice came out softer than I intended. Weak. I hated sounding like that.“Are you sure?” she asked again, her hands wringing on her lap. “You don’t have to pretend with me. I know seeing Mr. Reyes again… must’ve been—”“I said I’m okay,” I cut her off gently, not because I was mad, but because if she continued, I would fall apart.Martha nodded, then glanced at the documents in her lap before hesitantly speaking again. “Miss… I just want you to know

(Vivian’s POV)Six months later…“Miss Vivian, should I ask the staff to bring these documents as well?”I turned around and saw Martha walking toward me with a stack of documents in both hands. I approached her, checked the documents, and took them from her hands.“I’ll carry them,” I said. “Have all the items been moved?”“Yes. The movers left five minutes ago,” Martha informed me. “And also, Miss Vivian… There's a small issue. I mean, not exactly an issue. It’s just that…”“What is it? Just tell me.” I reached for my bag lying on the floor. I had already checked all the belongings and documents in my office, and everything had been packed into the truck and my car.The only thing left was to find someone willing to buy or lease the place. Since I had hired someone to help promote it, I was confident we’d find someone soon.At least now, I could finally breathe a little easier.“Well, it’s… um, how do I say this…”“What kind of problem is making you stutter like that? No need to be
