(Vivian’s POV)
My hands were ice-cold as I sat on the sofa, directly across from Kai. Meanwhile, Willem sat beside him. The conversation continued, but I couldn't control my nervousness.
Kai kept staring at me like I was his prey, ready to be devoured. His gaze was sharp, piercing, and dominant, making me feel incredibly uncomfortable. His presence alone made it impossible for me to focus, even though this discussion was supposed to be about my divorce.
"Do you know how long they've been having an affair?" Willem asked in a calm, gentle voice.
I shook my head. "I only found out last night. I have no idea how long they’ve been betraying me behind my back."
I bit my lip, my hands gripping the edge of the sofa anxiously. Out of the corner of my eye, I caught Kai smirking at me.
Is he mocking me?
"What about evidence of the affair? Do you have any?"
Once again, I shook my head.
There were so many things I didn't know about Adrian and Sophia's betrayal. Just thinking about it made my blood boil with anger and disappointment.
"Hmm, this is quite difficult since there's no concrete proof of your husband's infidelity. But I’ll do my best to win this case," Willem said.
"I… I don't have enough money to pay for a lawyer. And I think it’ll be hard to win because marriage lawsuits usually don’t favor the plaintiff," I admitted, my voice hoarse.
Willem fell silent as if weighing my words. There was hesitation in his eyes.
"That’s true, but you should still try. You saw them with your own eyes—they were cheating, "That can also be used as evidence."
Kai suddenly cleared his throat, startling me slightly. He stared at me sharply before turning his gaze to Willem.
"Will, can you leave us alone?"
"Huh?"
"I want to talk with her privately," Kai said, his voice firm and commanding.
"Oh, well..."
"No, I don’t want to waste your precious time. I’d rather just go back and—"
"Stay there, Miss Rosendale."
I flinched just as I was about to rise from the sofa when Kai suddenly spoke in a demanding tone, his piercing gaze locked onto me.
Without realizing it, I sank back into my seat, overwhelmed by a wave of nervousness. Willem glanced between the two of us before finally standing up, quickly grasping the situation.
"Alright, I’ll let you two talk. Tell me when you're done," he said as he walked out of the office.
Silence fell between us.
Kai continued to stare at me with eyes as sharp as a raven’s. The atmosphere grew unbearably cold. I anxiously fidgeted with my feet, biting my lip, and lowering my head to avoid his gaze.
"Miss Rosendale."
"Y-yes!"
I looked up. Our eyes met.
But then, a flood of memories from last night—of us tangled together on the bed—rushed through my mind. Heat crept up my face, turning it crimson with embarrassment.
Kai smirked.
"I can destroy your husband for you, Vivian," he whispers, his lips dangerously close. "Make him regret ever betraying you. But what will you give me in return?"
"W-what?"
I gasped, feeling as if I had just stepped into another trap.
"Your divorce. I can settle it with a snap of my fingers. You wouldn’t even have to worry about paying a lawyer. Willem will handle it, using the best from his firm, and I’ll make sure it happens," he said, observing me closely. "So, Miss Rosendale… What do you think?"
Was he doing this on purpose? Just to mock me after what happened between us last night? I had even thrown money at him—an amount that was probably insignificant in his eyes.
And now, here I was, sitting before him like a pathetic little rabbit.
It was embarrassing.
"Why would you help me?" I asked.
"Why?"
"Yes, because nothing in this world is free."
He smiled meaningfully.
"What if I told you that I want something from you?" he said, his gaze dripping with mystery.
I clenched my jaw. "I won’t sell myself to you."
Kai let out a rich, mocking laugh. He stood up and moved toward me, perching on the glass table right in front of me. His muscular body, dressed in a luxurious suit, leaned forward. His hand reached out, tilting my chin up. His dark eyes held me captive.
"Who said I wanted your body?"
I swallowed hard.
"Then what do you want?"
“I want you, Vivian.”
(Vivian’s POV)“Ah!”His body pounded into me, uncaring of how cramped the car was. I could even feel the car rocking from the movement. It was wild—too wild—but also too good. I wouldn't lie—I enjoyed having sex with him.Damn it!Despite the limited space, I spread my legs, giving him access to keep moving on top of me.It felt like heaven—something so difficult to put into words. His manhood… it felt so big, hard, and demanding. He pushed deeper inside me, and we truly lost ourselves in the moment.
(Vivian’s POV)“Are we there yet?” I glanced at Kai, who was driving with one hand. His eyes remained focused on the road, but his expression was calm… too calm.Kai only glanced at me briefly before turning back to the road.“Why? Can’t wait, huh?”“I’m just curious,” I pouted and crossed my arms over my chest. “You didn’t tell me where we’re going. This is kidnapping, you know.”Kai chuckled softly. Honestly, he was too cool to chuckle, given his calm but still slightly cold demeanor.“If this is a kidnapping, you look pretty willing.”Because I actually wouldn’t mind being kidnapped by someone like you, Kai...“Well, anyway, where are we going? I’m serious.”I put on a serious face after saying that in my heart. Yes, my feelings for him were something only I needed to know.He didn’t answer right away. The car continued down a road that was growing quieter, leaving the city lights behind. The night breeze drifted in through the cracked window, carrying a faint scent of the sea.“So
(Vivian’s POV)My heart was still racing.Kai’s hand gripped mine tightly, leading me down the hallway, away from Adrian, away from his venomous words that still echoed in my ears like a curse.“You think she’ll stay with you, Kai?! She’ll crawl back like she always does! That’s what sluts do!”I clenched my jaw. My steps faltered for a second, but Kai didn’t stop walking. He kept going—calm, firm, unwavering.I lowered my head, biting my inner cheek. My eyes burned, but I refused to cry.Not anymore.Once we turned a corner and reached a quieter area, Kai finally stopped. He turned to face me, his expression unreadable.“You okay?” he asked again, his voice much softer now.I looked up at him, struggling to keep my face neutral. “Yeah. I’m fine.”He didn’t buy it.“Vivian,” he said, his hand lifting to gently tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. “You’re trembling.”I exhaled shakily and looked away. “It’s just… anger. He makes my blood boil.”But the truth was, it wasn’t just anger.
(Vivian’s POV)Adrian’s grip on my wrist tightened. I winced, trying to push him off, my heart pounding in my chest.“You’re crazy!” I hissed, glaring at him. “Let me go!”But instead of backing away, Adrian shoved me harder against the wall, his face twisted in rage.“You lied to me,” he spat. “You said you and that bastard had nothing going on. And now you show up with him? Holding hands like some perfect couple? Are you trying to humiliate me, Vivian?!”I clenched my jaw, shoving at his chest, but he wouldn’t move.“What I do and who I come with is none of your business!” I snapped. “You’re not my husband anymore, Adrian! We’re divorced, remember?!”His eyes narrowed, lips curling in disgust. “Oh, so you are sleeping with him. That’s what this is, right? That’s why you’re parading around like some cheap woman in his jacket.”I gasped. My entire body stiffened.“How dare you…” I whispered in disbelief.“You really want to play the victim now?” he sneered, his breath hot against my s
(Vivian’s POV)I watched Kai as he talked with his friend. Somehow, one of the guests at Sophia’s birthday party turned out to be Kai’s college friend. And I had let them chat while I enjoyed the cake and drinks provided at the dining table. The event became livelier after Sophia cut the cake with Adrian. And at that moment, several pairs of eyes turned to me, followed by murmurs that escaped their lips. But I felt surprisingly calm because when that happened, Kai was right beside me, holding my hand tightly as if it were a charm he had given me on purpose. And it worked.I remained calm throughout the party.“Are you okay?” Summer asked as she approached me with a drink in her hand. She placed it on the table behind me and stood beside me. We both stared at Sophia and Adrian, who were busy chatting with their friends, showing off their affection, shamelessness, and arrogance, right in front of me.“They’re putting on quite a show,” she muttered.“Well, thanks to Kai, everything felt
Sophia laughed, but it was forced—more like a scoff than genuine amusement.“Wow… you’re quite bold, aren’t you?” she said, brushing her hair back arrogantly. “But let’s see how long that confidence lasts.”I wanted to roll my eyes, but I held it in. I couldn’t give her the satisfaction of knowing she was getting under my skin.Kai didn’t flinch. In fact, he leaned in a little closer to me, his arm still wrapped securely around my waist, like he was staking his claim.“I don’t need to prove anything to anyone,” he replied coolly. “Especially not to people who throw away diamonds thinking they’re just glass.”Adrian’s jaw twitched.I could feel the air shift around us—thick with tension, heavy with unspoken things. Summer was still chatting with someone near the buffet table, completely unaware of the storm brewing just a few steps away.Kai’s grip on my hand stayed firm, steady. He wasn’t nervous, not even slightly. The way he looked at Adrian—it wasn’t hostile. It was worse. He looke
(Vivian’s POV)The car ride to the party was quiet. Tense.Kai drove with one hand on the steering wheel, his other resting on the gearshift, looking effortlessly composed in his black tailored suit. Meanwhile, I was a bundle of nerves beside him, fidgeting with the clutch in my lap, trying to control my breathing.“Relax,” he said without looking at me. “You’re shaking.”“I’m not shaking,” I lied. His hand moved to gently cover mine. Warm. Steady. Reassuring.“Vivian,” he said, voice softer now, “nothing bad will happen. I won’t let it.”I wanted to believe him. But the knot in my stomach wouldn’t untangle. When we arrived at the Moonlight Estate, the venue was already glowing with lights and elegance. The driveway was lined with expensive cars, guests in tuxedos and gowns stepping out with practiced poise. As soon as we walked in, eyes turned toward us.Correction: toward Kai.He was magnetic—commanding attention without trying. I could hear women whispering his name, commenting on
(Vivian’s POV)"Are you sure you want to come with me?"Kai sat comfortably on the couch in our room, staring at me like he was shooting lasers that made my red dress feel like it was melting. He was dressed in his usual luxurious and expensive suit—so charming, handsome, and striking.I was sure all the female guests at the party would have their eyes on Kai. No wonder Summer once said that during college, Kai was the campus prince, and every woman was crazy about him.Who wouldn’t be? His face looked like it was sculpted with every good prayer imaginable. And his body… Oh God! Even though I had slept with him several times and seen everything—every detail and curve of his physique—that feeling of embarrassment never seemed to leave my face or my mind. But that wasn’t the main point tonight.Kai was coming. And Summer would be there too.So, how was I supposed to explain Kai to Summer? I was still lying to her about my relationship with him. If Summer ever found out that I had a sex
(Kai’s POV)I didn’t like the idea of Vivian going to that party. Not because I didn’t trust her. No, I trusted Vivian more than she probably trusted herself. But I didn’t trust them. Her so-called “friends.” The ones who laughed with her at brunch, complimented her dress, and whispered poison behind her back. The ones who watched her fall and did nothing. Or worse—enjoyed the spectacle.Sophia was the worst of them all.A woman who could betray her own best friend and sleep with her husband didn’t deserve forgiveness. She didn’t even deserve to be in the same room as Vivian, let alone invite her to some ridiculous party like everything was fine. Like the years of pain didn’t matter. If I had it my way, Sophia would choke on her own lies before she even managed to say Vivian’s name again.I stood by the doorway, arms crossed, watching Vivian sit on the edge of the bed. She was still breathless from the kiss I had stolen moments ago. Her lips were swollen, flushed with color, and her c
