“Sir,” Matteo called, dragging me from the dark tangle of my thoughts.

I looked up from the papers on my desk. My hands moved to take off my reading glasses, and I set them down carefully on the desk.

“What is it, Matteo?” I asked. My voice sounded tired. I had been feeling tired for weeks now.

“It’s about the information you wanted,” he said. His voice was quiet. “We found something about those two people.”

A cold smile came to my face. Finally. Maybe now I could end this mess. Maybe now I could get her out of my head. No matter what I did; Work. Women. Even bloodshed. Nothing erased her from my mind.

She was like a visitor in my heart that I never invited. She was taking away my peace. Even though I acted tough, I couldn’t kill her. I just couldn’t do it.

“Where are they?” I asked.

“Sir, the—”

I cut him off before he could finish. “Don’t tell me they’re still running around free.”

Matteo shook his head quickly. “No, sir. They were found dead.”

“Dead?” I repeated. “How?”

AzaleaHe led me outside. Four bodyguards dressed in black were waiting for us.“Good evening, sir,” they all said, bowing their heads.Adriano helped me into the car, then got in beside me. Through the window, I watched in horror as the bodyguards poured gasoline all over the house.Within seconds, flames shot up into the sky. The house was burning as we drove away, destroying all evidence of what had happened.“Where are you taking me?” I asked, my voice small and scared.“Don’t ask questions,” he replied, closing his eyes. “Knowing too much can get you killed.”I immediately went silent. The threat in his voice was clear. The car was quiet except for the sound of the engine as Matteo drove.I looked back one last time at the burning house disappearing behind the trees. Soon we were back in the busy city, with people walking around like nothing had happened.“Where are we going now?” I asked again as we started leaving the city behind.“Shut your mouth,” Adriano yelled at me. “Stop

Azalea“Starting today, you belong to me,” he said. His voice felt cold and distant, even though he stood so close I could feel his breath. My heart pounded with terror. “Remember my name. I am Adriano Rion Giordani. I’m your husband now. And I’m also your master.”“Yes,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “I will remember.”“Why are you still on the floor?” he asked sharply.I scrambled to my feet, my legs shaking. Adriano grabbed my hand roughly, his fingers digging into my skin.“It hurts!” I cried out, tears stinging my eyes. “Please, you’re hurting me!”“Where does it hurt?” His voice suddenly turned gentle and calm. I stared at him in shock. Was this the same man who had just killed his girlfriend? How could he sound so caring now?“Here,” I said, showing him my wounded hand.“You’re bleeding,” he muttered softly. “Wait here. I’ll be right back.”He helped me sit on the sofa, his touch surprisingly gentle. But as soon as he left, my eyes found Erica’s lifeless body on the flo

Adriano“What the hell is going on here?” I yelled, my voice echoing through the house. My heart was pounding hard in my chest as I stared at the mess in front of me. “Are you seriously fighting in my house?”The sight made my blood boil. Both women looked like they had been in a real battle. This was my house. My rules. And someone had broken them.“You’re back,” Erica said, trying to stand up. Her hair was messy and her clothes were torn. She looked like she had been through hell.“Do you care to explain why you are fighting with your patient, Erica?” I questioned, my eyes shooting daggers at her. The anger inside me was growing bigger and bigger.“It isn’t like that,” she answered quickly. Her voice was shaking. “She caused it.”“How?” I walked towards the sofa slowly. I sat down and crossed my legs, trying to look calm. But inside, I was burning with rage. “Tell me exactly what happened.”“I wanted to check her wound, but she refused,” Erica said. Her words came out fast, like she

Alex“Are you deaf, son?” Mother yelled. This time her voice was getting louder. My stomach twists with familiar dread.I should have known better than to involve her. I should have known she’d turn this into another chance. “I want you to do it now.”“Mom, please keep your voice down.” I tried to sound calm, but my voice shook. “You don’t want Father to hear this, do you?”“Do you think I care?” She laughed, but it was mean and cold. “Do you really think I care if he knows or not?”My heart started beating fast. She was getting out of control, and that was bad for me. “Calm down, Mom,” I whispered, looking around the room. I felt trapped. “Please.”“If you want me to calm down, then do what I tell you.”I knew that voice. It was the same voice she used when I was little, right before she would hit me for getting bad grades.“Okay.” I gave up and stood from my chair. My legs felt weak. “I’ll do it now.”“Good, son.” Her voice suddenly became sweet and loving. It made my skin crawl bec

Alex, Adriano’s Half-Brother“Son, do you really believe that monster won’t see right through you? That he won’t know you orchestrated the missing files?” my mother, Beauty, asked, walking out of the kitchen. She held a glass of juice and came to sit with me.Her words made my stomach twist. Even she thought I wasn’t smart enough to fool Adriano.“Keep your voice down, Mom,” I said, looking around. “You don’t want Dad to hear, do you?”She smiled, but it looked cold. “No, son. That pathetic old fool always tries to hide things. He thinks I don’t know how much he loves Adriano. I know he loves that boy more than he loves you.”Even my own mother said it out loud. The truth I’d been running from my whole life.“I don’t care about father’s love,” I lied, shrugging my shoulders. But inside, it felt like someone was twisting a knife in my chest. “I just want to take everything that belongs to him.”“Now that’s my boy.” She chuckled beside me. “You inherited my hunger, my willingness to rea
