SARAH

Cold water splashed onto my face, shocking me awake. I jolted up, gasping, my head pounding like a drum. The memory of their hands all over me, groping and squeezing, played in my mind like a horror movie on repeat. I took a deep breath, trying to stabilize myself, blinking away the water and tears.

"Rise and shine," one of the goons sneered, the one who had thrown the water. I glared at him, pure hatred burning in my eyes.

"Fuck you," I spat, my voice shaky but defiant.

"Watch your tongue, bitch," he snapped back, his face hardening. "You're in no position to mouth off."

I ignored the throbbing in my head and focused on him, rage boiling inside me. "You think you can just treat me like this? You think you can get away with it?"

He laughed, a cold, cruel sound. "Honey, we already have. No one's coming to save you. You’re ours to do with as we please."

The way he said it made my skin crawl. I wanted to scream, to fight, but I knew it would only get me hurt again. I forced myself

SARAHThe sun rose without asking how I felt about it.It just spilled through the curtains like everything was fine. Like the world hadn’t cracked open a little bit the night before.I lay there for a while, eyes open, staring at the ceiling. I hadn’t slept much. The bed felt too big, the silence too loud. My thoughts didn’t slow down—they just looped. Marco’s face. The bruises. The blood on his shirt. The sound of him breathing outside my door, like he was running out of air.He looked so lost. And I hated that I still cared.Eventually, I pushed the blanket off and sat up. My body felt heavy, like I hadn’t moved in days. I reached for my robe and padded barefoot to the bathroom. The mirror didn’t lie. My eyes were puffy. Skin dull. But I didn’t care enough to fix anything.I brushed my teeth, tied my hair up, and pulled on a long beige sweater and black leggings. Nothing special. I didn’t want to dress up. I just wanted to breathe. The house was quiet.Too quiet. No chatter from th

  • Owned By The Mafia Lord   CHAPTER 408

MARCO I stumbled out of the SUV before it even came to a full stop. Tony didn’t say a word. He knew better. My shirt was torn down one side, knuckles swollen, lip cracked and bleeding. I could taste blood mixed with whiskey on my tongue. The sun hadn’t come up yet, but the lights at the front of the estate were still on. The place was quiet. Still. Too quiet. No one came to open the door. The guards at the gate didn’t even flinch when I walked past. One of the maids passed through the hallway inside, looked at me from the corner of her eye, then turned like she hadn’t seen me at all. I stepped inside the house, dragging guilt behind me like it weighed a ton. Everything looked the same, but it didn’t feel like home. Not anymore. The hallway was wide and cold. Marble floors. High ceilings. That stupid chandelier my mother picked out hanging above like a noose. I passed the framed portraits. One of them—me and Sarah at the vineyard. I looked happy in that photo. She looked happi

MARCOI stood in the study for a long time after she left. The door didn’t slam. It just swung softly behind her, like even the house didn’t have the energy to fight anymore. I could hear her footsteps echo down the hallway, fading one by one. Each step felt heavier in my chest than the last. She didn’t yell. Didn’t cry. Didn’t even flinch. She just looked at me like she had nothing left to say, like she was tired of trying, and then she walked out. That silence hit harder than anything she’s ever thrown at me.I stayed frozen for a moment. Then I moved. I started pacing the room like a caged animal, dragging my hand through my hair, my mind racing in every direction. I didn’t know whether to chase after her, say something, stop her. Or maybe I just wanted to scream, break something, anything to stop the guilt from building inside me. But I didn’t do any of that. I just paced. My jaw was locked so tight I could feel the pressure in my temples. My fists clenched at my sides without me

SARAHThe room was quiet.Soft morning light slipped through the curtains, brushing against my face. I didn’t move. My back ached from the stiff guest sofa, but I didn’t care. I was still in the same gown from the party. It smelled faintly of perfume and shame. The air was heavy. I stared at the ceiling, letting the silence wrap around me.No tears. Not this time.My mind was loud, though. It kept showing me things I didn’t want to see. Sofia’s smile. Marco’s face when he saw her. The hug. The way his arms hesitated but didn’t push her away. And the way the room seemed to shift the second she arrived. Like I didn’t belong anymore.I finally sat up, slowly, letting my feet touch the cold marble floor. It grounded me. Reminded me I was still here, whether they wanted me or not.I opened the door and walked out, not bothering to fix my hair. The hallway was dim, quiet, as if the house was waiting. Watching. I walked toward our old room—Marco’s and mine. The door was open just a little. I

MADDELENA The room was quiet. Still. Only the soft hum of the chandelier above and the faint clink of glass as I lifted it to my lips. I hadn’t changed out of my gown. I didn’t want to. The fabric still smelled like perfume and the tension of the night. It held the weight of every stare, every silence, every unspoken win. I liked that. I wanted to feel it just a little longer. I sat by the tall window, where the curtains moved just slightly with the breeze. My glass was half full, filled with something dark and strong. Aged. Bitter. It burned a little, but I liked that too. It kept me sharp. I took another sip, slow, and looked out at the quiet estate grounds. The De Luca name still echoed through this house, and tonight, it echoed louder than ever. Because tonight, I reminded everyone who still owned the room. A slow smile crept across my face. I let myself relax in the chair, letting the images from the night wash over me like a slow film. Sofia’s entrance. That was the mom

SARAHHe stood there, just past the broken door, breathing heavy like he’d run through a storm. We stared at each other for a second that felt too long. I didn’t say anything. I just turned around and folded my arms, my back facing him.I didn’t want him to see my face.He stayed by the door. I could hear the slow steps as he looked around the room. This room had been mine when I first came. It still had that faint lavender scent. Still had that cold untouched silence. He didn’t say anything at first, but I knew he was thinking it too. This was where I used to sleep, where I used to cry when nobody was watching. Where I had been invisible.“Sarah,” he finally said, his voice low, softer than before.I didn’t respond. He tried again. “I didn’t know she was coming.”I still said nothing. I held my arms tighter across my chest.“I didn’t know,” he said again, like if he repeated it enough it would fix something. “I was just as shocked as you.”I turned my head slightly. “Were you?”He to
