I fought the urge to watch the news or call Linden to confirm what Lex had just told me. I focused my time on watching him and made sure he was comfortable in bed until he fell back to sleep.

I even put my phone on silent not to disturb him. He was my priority right now, though my heart was breaking not to see my wife and hear news about her progress.

The door slightly opened, and Wave’s head emerged. “Mrs. Kolby has woken up. The doctors are checking her progress as we speak.”

“How did you know?” My chest lightened a bit. I was too focused on Lex’s health, and I forgot about her safety, and called someone for updates.

“I know you have a lot on your plate right now, but I asked Quinton to stay there for a while. He just called me.”

“Glad one of us still thinks rationally.” I smiled tightly. “Thanks, Wave.”

“No problem, sir. And her mother is staying with her as a patient’s watcher.” He’d also updated me about Denise’s condition and the doctor’s findings.
