Bastian picked up the prison intercom receiver. His face was hard, his jaw locked tight. On the other side of the thick glass, Tobias sat calmly.

"I've only got ten minutes," Bastian said coldly. "Say what you came to say, then leave."

"I brought you the appeal paperwork," Tobias replied without hesitation, nodding toward a blue folder on the table. "My legal team found procedural flaws in your arrest. Sign it, and I'll have you out of this hellhole within two weeks."

"Is this the guy?"Bastian folded his arms across his chest, studying the skinny man with thick glasses standing before him.The man was busy resetting an old washing machine in the prison laundry room. He didn't look anything like the mastermind of a criminal operation."Never judge a book by its cover, tough guy," Viper chuckled as he leaned against one of the washing machines. "Meet Gregory. He's the one who hacked the central bank's electronic security system three years ago."Gregory didn't even look up. His fingers kept moving swiftly as he connected two tiny wires."Sixty seconds," he said. "That's the window when the prison's main server performs its weekly automatic reboot. The night after tomorrow, at exactly 2:15 a.m., every camera in the west wing and every electronic gate sensor will go offline.""Sixty seconds?" Bastian frowned. "From solitary all the way to the outer fence? That's impossible.""That's why we aren't starting from solitary," Gregory replied as he turned a

Anthony's steps felt unbearably heavy as he pushed open the front door. His mind was still in complete turmoil after Kyle and Peter had thrown him out of the hospital without a second thought. But the moment he stepped into the living room, the sight before him brought him to a dead stop.Belle stood there, dragging a large black suitcase behind her. In front of her, Mrs. Watson clung tightly to her daughter's arm, tears streaming down her face."Belle, please... don't go," Mrs. Watson sobbed, her voice trembling uncontrollably. "I'll talk to your father.""There's nothing left to talk about, Mom," Belle replied, her voice as cold as ice. "Dad's made his decision... and I've made mine.""What's going on here?!" Anthony called out as he hurried toward them.Belle turned to him. Her eyes were filled with a disappointment so deep it almost hurt to look at."I'm leaving this house... right now.""You can't just leave, Belle! This is your home!" Anthony argued, stepping in front of the doo

Renee's expression was tense as she stepped through the hospital lobby's automatic doors. The sharp of her heels echoed across the polished floor. Her heart pounded unevenly. The bad news had just reached her: Nick had survived.Bastian's friend had pulled through after hours of surgery—surgery that Tobias had reportedly paid for himself."Damn it," Renee muttered under her breath as she walked down the hallway. If Nick woke up and started talking, she was finished. She needed to see his condition for herself. And if possible, find a way to silence him permanently.Renee's eyes settled on the door to the VIP recovery room."What the hell was that idiot Toby thinking, putting him in a VIP room?" Renee grumbled as she slowly pushed the door open.Inside, Nick lay motionless on the bed, a ventilator covering half his face. Standing on either side of him were Kyle and Peter, their arms folded across their chests. The two Blackfist members stared at Renee like wolves ready to tear into the

I'll never accept so much as a dime of help from Renee's family.""We're both adults, Bastian. Stop letting your pride get in the way," Tobias said, his voice growing sharper as his patience began to wear thin. "This is about survival.""I grew up on the streets. I know how to survive.""Do you?" Tobias countered. "Because your friend Nick couldn't."Bastian's eyes narrowed instantly. Every instinct in his body tensed."What do

Beep... beep... beep...The steady rhythm of the heart monitor broke the silence inside the ICU at Eastbourne General Hospital.Nick lay motionless on the hospital bed.A ventilator covered his mouth and nose. Thick bandages were wrapped around his head, and bruises covered nearly every inch of his body.Belle sat beside his bed, her trembling hands wrapped around Nick’s icy fingers.Tears streamed down her face, falling onto the back of her brother’s best friend’s hand.“I’m so sorry, Nick,” Belle sobbed, her voice breaking beneath the weight of her guilt. “God... how did it come to this?”The warehouse security guard had found him that morning. It felt like divine intervention because the guard rarely checked Warehouse Number Four, yet for some reason he noticed the door was slightly ajar.Thankfully, Nick was still breathing. But the doctor had said he was in a coma after suffering severe head trauma and internal bleeding. The news had shattered Belle. The ICU door opened.Belle qu

The sound of Nick's footsteps splashed softly through the rainwater puddles covering the old harbor. The phone in his pocket vibrated over and over again. With an irritated sigh, Nick stopped and looked down at the screen.Several messages had come in, along with missed calls from Peter and Kyle. Their messages were filled with worry, asking where he was.Nick replied to the latest one."Our witness doesn't want a crowd showing up. I'll meet him myself. Once everything's clear, I'll bring him back to the shop."He slipped the phone back into his pocket and continued walking. The witness said he was on the last boat to dock at the pier. That's where Nick was headed. When he stepped onto the deck, the place was eerily quiet. He moved cautiously before pushing open the unlocked cabin door.Inside was complete darkness."Hello?" Nick called.Nothing. The cabin was empty. At that exact moment, his phone vibrated again. Nick let out a breath and looked at the screen. It was another message
