CHAPTER 4

Who was that bastard that was trying to take her seventeen-year-old child? Her baby couldn’t have been schemed by some pedophile, right?

“Umm, mom. You see, the thing is I have been seeing someone for a while and tonight he proposed to me. I couldn’t stop myself so I accepted but since I am not yet eighteen, we can’t get married yet. And another thing I wanted him to come and ask you too. I was just a bit impulsive,” Enchantia confessed but Nevaeh was no longer in the right state of mind.

Her head was spinning a lot digesting the words that she had just said. Her baby was already grown up that she was already at the age of getting married.

How long has it been since they took the little girl to their house? It was already around twelve years. Just thinking about back then made her tear up.

“Mom, I am sorry. Please don’t cry. I should have consulted with you first,” Enchantia felt really wronged.

She had been blackmailed and bribed into this whole marriage thing even though her heart was in it but she didn’t want to speak ill of her future man and concocted a relationship lie. Who knew that her mother will still grief like this? She was going to deal with that bastard when she sees him again.

Seeing that she had made her daughter worried, Nevaeh quickly hugged her daughter to assure her that she didn’t do any wrong. It was a god thing that the child was still with them and wasn’t planning on leaving once she becomes an adult.

She took her and her husband as her parents which had warmed the hearts of the two-elderly couple.

“Mom, talk to me.”

“I am okay, I just thought of something and made you worried. It’s good that you are seeing someone and that he cherishes you. You should let him come and meet your dad so that they may discuss the arrangements. Have you seen his family yet?”

Enchantia who heard these positive words from her mother felt very relived and quickly answered her mother.

“No, I haven’t met them yet. I wanted him to meet you guys first before I meet his.”

Hearing her daughter speaking like that made Nevaeh smile and laugh. Her daughter was surely a naughty child, already scheming before she was even married. She was only worried about whether her daughter will behave when she is gone to the other side.

Her daughter may look all quiet and behaved but she knew the mischief hidden under that soft skin. She was going to talk to that man and make sure that her baby won’t be bullied in the future.

“Whatever my baby says then it will be. So, tell me about this man you have been seeing,” Nevaeh began to inquire about her future son in law.

She wanted to see if her daughter was a great picker and if she had not been wronged but when she heard about him, she began to worry again.

“Princess, this… I mean isn’t he a bit someone who is out of our league?” she was worried about her daughter.

That family was rich and well known, her daughter was not only an orphan but was raised by foster parents. Her job and Isaac’s weren’t that much and now her daughter was going to enter into the Chavez family. If she doesn’t get worried then she will be totally out of her mind.

“Mom, you need to trust this daughter of yours. Remember that it wasn’t me who chased after that older guy, it was him who pestered me for so long and after feeling pity for him I agreed to date him. You raised such a beautiful child like me, I can even compete in one of those royal consorts’ selections,” Enchantia boasted herself while patting her average chest.

Nevaeh laughed after hearing her daughter. She was totally a jokester; she was happy to hear the confidence in her voice. Enchantia never worried her about anything. If there was nothing at home, she will never cry about it. She had that overload confidence in her which lessened their worry.

“Yes, my baby is the best. If he ever troubles you then leave him, my daughter can still become a royal consort.”

“Yes, yes, now you get me. You don’t have to worry about anything mom, I will make him eat in the palm of my hands. He will be a slave to my love, so don’t worry and prepare to receive your rich son in law.”

Enchantia used her sweet mouth to coax her mother until she was no longer worried. Nevaeh finally left her daughter’s bedroom with a relaxed look on her face and went to her bedroom where husband was busy reading a newspaper.

She explained everything that had happened earlier and her husband was worried but after being with their baby for long they know that she won’t do anything that she was not sure of.

“Let’s wait and see the attitude of Keaton and decide from there if it’s for the best to let the two marry each other,” Isaac said after a long deliberation.

His family may not be rich like others but he will not sell his own child for glory. He wanted his daughter’s husband to care and love her the same way he loves his own wife.

Despite his wife infertility he never divorced or abandoned her, he never cheated her and looked for other springs outside but he remained with her. He stood by her side because she was the person that he set his eyes on from the word go.

Why should her inability to conceive make her look different to him? Because of that strong belief he also believes that Enchantia the daughter he raised and love like his own should be with a man who deserves her and that is gauged by his heart and not the depth of his wallet.

Aminah looked at her oldest son who seemed to have no plans of marrying at all. She had pestered him for more than a decade to let him marry but what did he say and do? Just thinking about it gives her a headache.

Thinking of her other children; Kit who was three years younger than Keaton, he already married and has got two kids which made her feel so proud. Her third child Kira the only girl in the family also got married and conceived one child so far while her youngest Kris came with his girlfriend whom she saw and liked.
