The Apology

When Xander brought her back to the villa, she hesitated outside the entrance.

"I'm going to take a walk," Callie said.

For a moment, it looked like Xander might try to talk her out of going out alone, but ultimately he let her go, yelling after her to be saved, “Don't stay out too late and make sure you come back in an hour,” he said.

She pretended not to hear him and made her way out to the street.

She felt inspired and energized by her decision to distance herself and reclaim her life. It's funny how sometimes you can just make up your mind to do something and it changes your whole outlook on life.

As she walked down the street, she reflected on what happened in the hotel. She stopped and stared at the sky watching the birds flying. It occurs to her that she might have made a big mistake by going into this fake marriage and this might affect her entire life.

Callie wondered if Xander truly loved her or if he was pretending, the thought sunk deep inside her as glanced at the store
