Delaney

"I want to go back home," I told Kai the moment he walked in, balancing a tray of different breakfast dishes on one hand.

"But the search—"

"The search is not going to bring my father back, and you know it." I interrupted. "Take me home." The aroma from the dishes was making it hard for me to resist it, and my mouth was already watering.

He placed the tray on the bedside table, quietly observing me. "Why are you giving up, Del?"

"Because we spent the entire day yesterday looking, searching, and look where that got us...nowhere, no leads, nothing," I argued, not even looking at him as the bed dipped beside me.

"We saved Jeriah. If it weren't for you following your father's scent, Jeriah would be dead now. A good thing came out of the search," he countered, placing his hand on mine. I wanted to withdraw it, because his touch reminded me that he was still lying, deliberately withholding information from me and still looking me in the eye.

Delaney"We have to be very careful about what we do or say, especially when we are out there," Elias said, his folded hands resting on the dining table. Maribel had prepared a bowl of chicken broth for me and a number of dishes for dinner. She had made sure to throw out pasta when I had almost puked at the smell of it."True, from now on, we treat everyone out of this circle as the enemy. Trust no one," Ronan seconded as I chugged down the last bit of the broth. Some of it had trickled past my lips, so he attempted to wipe it off with his napkin."Don't you dare touch me," I warned, slapping his hand away."Come on, Delaney, he just wanted to—""I know what he wanted to do, okay?" I snapped at Kai, grabbing the napkin. "I am not a child, I can clean myself. But how would both of you know that when you thought to lie to me, treat me like a child?"Kai sighed, while Ronan looked at Maribel, his brows raised. "Don't look at me, you will have to deal with her moods alone." Maribel shrugg

DelaneyI couldn't stay on the rooftop, not when my entire body was shaking. My knees were weakening with every step that I took, and I had to support myself with the walls on either side of the hallway. The warning from the dark witch played in my mind. 'For a red wolf betrayed as many times as you, I'd be careful who I keep close. You never know who is going to betray you...again.' Her words cycled over and over again; she knew she was talking about my mother, she absolutely knew."Kai told me you are on the rooftop," Nyra said, walking out of our room. "Oh my god, are you okay?" She ran over to me and held me, supporting my weight.I swallowed hard, barely managing to shake my head. "My m-om," I stammered, my throat burning with unshed tears. "Working w-ith the da-rk witch.""What the hell?" She swore, her eyes widening. "Does Kai know?""No," I mumbled. Everything to me at that point seemed to be thrashing out of control. She walked me back to our room, where Kai was standing by t

RonanThere was no lead, sightings or any information concerning the dark witch; it was like she had vanished from the face of the earth. That didn't sit well with me or with Kai. Every minute that passed with her on the loose was a reminder that she could have been anywhere, planning, goddess knows what. After hours of searching both in beast form and man, I had decided to go back to the dungeons for the only lead that we had."Alpha King," the healer called just outside Chloe's cell, bowing. "Chloe is in a position to talk now," he informed, adjusting the wristwatch in his hand."Thank you, I will take it from here," I stated, walking into the cell where she sat in the corner, head lowered, her matted hair covering most of her face. I dismissed the warrior who was in charge of her, which left just the two of us in the small concrete cell. II walked slowly, crouching in front of her. I could clearly hear the sound of her heartbeat accelerating, pumping louder when I got close."Face

Delaney Escaped. That single word replayed in my mind repeatedly within a few seconds; each time Kai's voice got louder and louder, creating an echo. The time for me stopped, trapping me in a loop of chills running over my body. My right hand went instinctively to my belly, where life was growing. A vengeful dark witch full of revenge was the last thing I needed. "Delaney." Nyra shook me, her hands gripping the sides of my shoulders. "I've tried getting your attention for minutes now." I blinked, the reality crushing in on me. We were no longer in the hallway but back in my and Kai's room. I couldn't explain how we had gotten back to the room neither did I remember walking back. "You zoned out, completely. Had to drag you back here," Nyra revealed, her eyes roaming over my face. "The dark witch," I whispered, her smug face flashing before my eyes. "Sshh," Nye placed her hand over my mouth, looking over her shoulder to the open door. Quickly, she turned and closed it, then pulled

DelaneyI stood by the window of the hotel room Kai and I had checked into, staring at the woods that stretched to the neutral grounds. Kai had excused himself to go make sure that Jeriah had settled in well. The pack healer had already checked him and had ruled that he was okay. Apparently my magic had saved him, and while I was glad, I wished we had also managed to get my dad back. With my emotions pushing me to do something when I saw him bleeding, my magic had worked. There was a knock on the door. "It's me." Nyra's voice followed."Come on in," I responded, not stepping away from the window. It had been a long day, and the sun was almost setting. I couldn't help but picture my dad feeling lost and scared in the arms of the very man he refused to believe existed when I told him about him."How are you feeling?" Nyra stood beside me. "We haven't managed to talk the entire day since we left the capital.""Honestly, I don't know," I admitted, biting my trembling lower lip. Apart from
