EMILIA POV

“No!” I screamed out, guarding my stomach with my hand and running away, but I didn’t get far when I fell to the ground and looked back to see Heath approaching me with the knife in his hand.

“You can’t do this!” I yelled out at the Council of Elders, seeing that at least two of them had concern on their faces and trying to win them over to take a vote against it before Heath could go ahead with it. “It’s going to kill me as well! Don’t you want answers from me as well?”

“Stop, Heath!” Vittoria commanded loudly, and Heath stopped in his tracks as soon as possible.

“We need to take a vote on this,” Marcus suggested. “I don’t think it’s fair to have the child killed so soon without a valid reason.”

“Is the fact that the child is half vampire not enough for you?” Dennis argued. “You also heard what was said about the child—”
