ALPHA BRAHAM'S POV

Convincing Millie to leave her mother's house had been war.

She'd stood in that living room yesterday evening, arms crossed, jaw set, looking every bit like the woman who'd faced down a mob of reporters without flinching.

"I'll be fine," she'd said, voice steady. "I've been handling things on my own all these years. A few paparazzi aren't going to break me."

"Millie, those people aren't leaving," I'd countered, forcing myself to stay calm when every instinct screamed at me to just throw her over my shoulder and carry her out. "A handful will camp outside your gates for days, maybe weeks, waiting for something to happen. You and Leo deserve better than that."

"I'm used to pressure. I can handle them."

"This isn't about what you can handle." My hands flexed at my sides. "It's about what you shouldn't have to."

"I can't just run away from my mother's house because of some reporters."

"You're not running," Callie had interjected from the doorway, and I'd never been more

  • PREGNANT FOR THE ALPHA I NEVER MET    The four years

BRAHAM'S POVFOUR YEARS EARLIER— BARCELONA The November air in Barcelona carried the salt-sweet scent of the Mediterranean. I stood in the shadows across from the third-floor apartment, hands shoved deep in my pockets.11:47 PM. The lights were still on.Through the sheer curtains, I could see her moving…Millie-Rose, around 5-6 months pregnant, one hand pressed to her lower back. Even from this distance, I could see the exhaustion in her posture.Cross the street, my wolf Vorn snarled. Go to her. She's our mate. She's carrying our pup."We can't," I whispered into the darkness.Because three months ago in Mexico, she'd left me a note: Stop looking for me. I'll return when I'm ready. — MillieSo I'd stopped hunting. Stopped tracking. But I couldn't stop this…weekly check-ins from a distance, making sure she was safe. The bedroom light flickered on. I watched her shadow move across the curtains, preparing for bed."Sleep well," I murmured. "Both of you."My phone buzzed. Diego Martinez

  • PREGNANT FOR THE ALPHA I NEVER MET    Quiet support

CALLIE'S POVA few days after the phone recovery confirmation, Renan and I sat in his apartment organizing evidence files for Will Reid.It felt strangely domestic…me curled up on his couch with my laptop, him at the dining table with stacks of financial records spread out, both of us working in comfortable silence. This was what being together looked like. Not just the passionate moments, but this: quiet collaboration, shared purpose, choosing to spend our time side by side."These payment records are interesting," Renan said, flipping through bank statements. "Sabrina worked for June for years. Steady fifty-dollar weekly payments from 2000 all the way through early 2004."I pulled up the spreadsheet Millie had shared with us…the one from her mother's locked filing cabinets. "Right. Legitimate household assistant wages. Nothing suspicious there.""But then look at this." He slid over another set of documents. "Starting in January 2004, there's a separate set of payments. All marked w

  • PREGNANT FOR THE ALPHA I NEVER MET    Werewolf dreams

BRAHAM'S POV"Braham, there are monsters in my room."His small voice pulled me from sleep. I blinked in the darkness and found him standing in the bedroom doorway, his dragon book clutched to his chest, his eyes wide with fear."What kind of monsters, buddy?" I asked softly, careful not to wake Millie. She'd finally fallen asleep an hour ago after tossing and turning, her mind clearly stuck on waiting for test results."Big ones. With teeth and claws. They were chasing with me." His voice trembled.I slipped out of bed and scooped him up, feeling how small he was in my arms despite how fast he was growing. "Just a bad dream. Come on, let's get you back to bed."In his room, I tucked him back under his covers. The nightlight cast soft shadows across his face…shadows that made him look so much like Millie, but with my eyes staring back at me."Want to tell me about it?" I asked, settling on the edge of his bed.Leo nodded, his grip on the dragon book loosening slightly. "I was running.

  • PREGNANT FOR THE ALPHA I NEVER MET    Futile attempt

BRAHAM’S POV I smelled her the moment she stepped out of that beat-up Ford.Martha's scent; cheap perfume, rage, and desperation…cut through the park like a blade. My wolf surged forward, claws scraping at the inside of my skin."She's here," I murmured into the comm unit hidden in my ear."Copy that." Renan's voice crackled back. "North side, moving toward the playground."I kept my position behind the large oak near the parking lot, watching through the gaps in the leaves.Around the park, six of my pack sentinels blended into the afternoon crowd; A jogger. A couple on a blanket. A man walking his dog. All connected through the bond, alert and ready.Millie sat on the bench with Callie, both facing the playground. Their backs were to Martha. Perfect targets.Leo went down the slide, his laughter carrying across the grass. Completely oblivious to the monster watching him.Good. He should never know how close she came.Martha moved closer, adjusting her baseball cap. Her hands trembl

  • PREGNANT FOR THE ALPHA I NEVER MET    Investigations

MILLIE'S POVI woke up to the throbbing pain in my arm where Sabrina had cut me. The bandage was clean but the pain was constant, a reminder of how close I'd come to sharing my mother's fate.Braham was already awake, standing by the window with his phone pressed to his ear. I caught fragments of his conversation."...Yes, the police found it last night... No, the screen is completely shattered but the internal memory might be intact... they'll send it to a forensic data recovery specialist..."My heart jumped. The phone. The confession.I sat up too quickly and my arm protested. Braham noticed immediately, ended his call and rushed to the bed."Easy. How's the arm?""Painful. But manageable." He sat on the edge of the bed. "The screen of your phone is destroyed, but the internal components might have survived the fall. They've sent it to a specialist who works with them. If the audio recording is still there...""We'll have her confession. On record." Hope flickered in my chest. "T

  • PREGNANT FOR THE ALPHA I NEVER MET    A good fight

MILLIE'S POVThe knife trembled in Sabrina's hand, but her eyes were wild with desperation."You're just like her," she spat. "Just like June. Always thinking you're better than everyone else. Always in the way."My heart hammered against my ribs. "Sabrina, put down the knife.""Why? So you can run to the police with your lies?" She took a step toward me. "I've spent twenty years building a life. I'm not letting you take it away.""You already lost it. Martha's in jail. My father's in jail. You're broke and alone." I backed toward the door, trying to keep my voice steady. "Killing me won't change any of that.""No. But it'll feel good." Her laugh was hysterical. "You think you're so clever, coming here, trying to trick me into confessing. But I've dealt with cleverer people than you.""Like my mother?""Your mother was weak! She would have forgiven your father eventually. Would have taken him back. But I couldn't risk it." The knife was closer now. "She had to go. And if you're not ca
