Just as Damian predicted Kaira wouldn't spot Clause Seven. The realization would dawn on her later, and she would be surprised after a thorough check, but by then, she'd be bound by her signature.

Damian slowed his steps, turning briefly. Vincent, who was a step behind him, stopped at once.

Kaira's face brightened, thinking he had stopped for her.

"So embarrassing," Damian muttered under his breath, shaking his head slightly before continuing his exit from the hotel.

"Hey! Wait up!" Kaira’s voice called from behind. Hurrying to keep up.

The hotel’s doors opened. Outside, the afternoon heat pressed down. The two guards at the entrance bowed so low their heads almost touched the ground. Damian’s cold glance brushed over them, sharp enough to freeze them in place, before proceeding toward his car.

Vincent rushed forward, pulling the door open.

Behind, Kaira finally stepped outside. She glared at Damian’s back even though he didn’t turn.
