We arrived at Moonshine Pack just as the sun was setting. The gates of the town were still open and our truck and car drove directly to the Alpha's Villa.
I would have done anything to escape my present situation. Even if it means killing Damon. But I could not escape, for I had no doubt whatsoever that my mother would suffer horribly for it, and my mother had suffered enough at the hands of Damon D'Angelo.I was almost numb with despair as I mounted the stairs to the great hall. Damon had not lied when he talked about the number of moonshine pack werewolves. They look strong and muscular, armed, and in great multitude.
The inside of the great hall was filled with tables and chairs set for the evening meal, the wall displaying Alpha Gwen's wealth in useless weapons of polished silver and gold, most encrusted with fine jewels. Omegas were in abundance. One or more to serve each guest, but Alpha Gwen did not waste his money. Their clothes were nearly rags, their bodies none too clean, their demeanor cowed to the point of trembling hands and haunted eyes, and little wonder. In the space of crossing the hall to the raised dais where Gwen sat like a king in state, I saw three Omegas cuffed for no apparent reason, one struck so hard that he fell to the floor, only to be kicked twice where he lay unmoving. I was so appalled by what I saw that I stopped walking, but the crowd at my back pushed me lightly. I had avoided looking towards Gwen's table. Maybe he will vanish if I keep ignoring him. And I nearly cried out in horror when I at last did. He was worse than I had imagined. Alpha Gwen wasn't just old. He looks like a corpse. His skin was a pasty white, and so deeply wrinkled there was not an inch anywhere to be seen that could be called smooth. What was left of his hair was white, except for one narrow streak of blond to attest to what the color had been. His body was so bent that I stood taller than him, and I was only a few inches above five feet. His eyes were round and too big for his small face, and the whites of his eyes were dark yellow. I also noticed a white film covering the iron gray of one of his irises. He was almost blind. His bright silk robe, trimmed at the neck and sleeves with costly fur; merely made him look more ridiculous.A hard, loud voice soon boomed in the large hall as our pack Beta shouted introductions. "My name is Beta Cohen, and I have been delegated to supervise the marriage preparation until my Alpha arrives. I want you to Meet your wife-to-be, Princess Bella."
"Enough," Alpha Gwen said with a cackle, revealing the only two teeth remaining in his mouth. "Take her to my side of the fortress. I will see her at the chapel for the wedding."
I turned and then summoned an Omega to take me to whatever room he had prepared for me. And it was in my room that my blinding tears were finally released until I finally fell asleep.
I woke with some kind of disorientation that lasted only for a moment. And at that instant, my blood turned cold as dread seeped into my bones, keeping me immobile on the bed.
"Do you want to lie in bed until the priest arrives?"
"Moana?" My eyes gasped in surprise as I recognized that dear voice.
"Yes, my sweet one."
I sat up and saw my maid sitting on a chest that had not been there when I first entered the room. It was my chest, and my maid was sitting on it.
Moana has been my maid since I can remember. And before that, she had served my mother. Moana was a tall woman with a round girth. Her weight was expected since Moana loved eating."What are you doing here?"
"Your uncle allowed me to come after receiving feedback on your cooperation...I saw that old man when I arrived this morning. How could you agree to wed that?"
I fought back the tears gathering in my eyes, but my lips still trembled as I said, "Damon was hitting my mother. I doubt he would have stopped if I didn't agree."
"Oh, my goodness," Moana cried and then came swiftly forward to gather me in her arms. "I knew Damon was a monster but I never expected him to be worse. He dare struck his half-brother's wife."
"God forgive me, but I hate him now. He only thinks of his gain and has no thought of my wellbeing."
"I heard he planned to take back your land from that Monstrous Alpha Baron.
"Not for me. Damon will never give back my land. I'm just to get pregnant to secure Moonshine's wealth and warriors. And when Gwen dies, Damon will have me back as well, to marry off again the next time he finds himself in similar situations."
"Oh! Is that his plan?" Moana asked indignantly. "But Gwen is so old. Do you think he can still have an erection?"
I snorted. "Exactly my thought. But I guess no man will like to be told that."
"I learned that Alpha Gwen had tried to get another son to replace the ones who died during the war. He has taken four wives in just of recent ."
"What happened to them?"
"They all died one way or the other. But I suspect foul play. I learned he had repudiated them because they couldn't give him the so-needed-son as quickly as expected."
"So if I did not give him a son, he is likely to hate me within a year. "
"No. Alpha Gwen will not last that long. He should have been dead since. Why he is still alive can only be from a pact he made with the devil."
"Shush," I hissed and then made a sign of a cross over my chest. Yet, I was forced to agree, had I not thought he already looked like a corpse.
"Do you truly mean you are going to marry Alpha Gwen?"
"Yes. Do I have a choice?"
"You do. We can kill him instead."
Moana told me of our prisoner's successful escape, and I was at last able to breathe easily and sleep soundly. Who will knock on the door of my chamber the following morning? Damon. His eyes roamed over my body as I pulled the door open and glared at his face. I can see that he was troubled, and the reason became known to me after. "Baron had gathered large numbers of his fighting Gammas at the northern side of this pack territory. I heard he planned to attack this pack at nightfall.""Baron!" I exclaimed. "Why is he here?""Why? To capture me of course."Damon wasn't on my list of favorites, so I wasn't worried about him being captured. Unfortunately, Baron's presence on moonshine territory is not a threat to Damon alone. My safety is also at risk if he finds out who I am. "I can't rely on Alpha's Gwen's untrained men and need to escape now to gather my Gammas and attack his flank.""What about me, Uncle? You won't leave me here to his mercy, will you?""Don't worry, Bella. I wil
Moana wobbled into my section of the chamber, dipped her hand into her apron, and brought out bunches of keys. "I believe the key to free him should be among these sets of keys. Damon was guarding it so much and I only removed it from his purse when he lay senselessly drunk in his room.""You should have murdered him for me," I said as I pulled Moana into my embrace and then giggled to show her that I didn't mean what I just said. Am sure Moana will go to any length for me, kill Damon if I want. I would have loved this, but the fear of what would happen to my mother won't allow me to order her to. "Keep saying this, mistress and I will take your word for it one day""Don't. Not until my mother is out of his reach. And then I won't mind what happened to him after," I said with an infectious smile. Moana nodded and then placed the keys in my palm, but I shook my head sideways. "No. You should be the one to free him and then escort him through the gate leading out of the fortress. I'm
"Thank you."I could never forget those words nor will I forgive them. I recalled them again and again in those next days while I lay chained to that bed. She had collapsed onto my chest and I felt tears splashing into my skin. She didn't find any pleasure in the lovemaking but she got what she wanted. And after sobbing for a while, she looked into my bloodshot eyes and muttered, "Thank you." And my hatred of her had increased tenfold. Her servant arrived to tend to my wound, and she clucked her tongue over what I had done to myself. I watched as she cleaned the blood-encrusted lump on my head and then attended to my swollen ankles and wrists. I was too devastated and no longer cared, so I closed my eyes and pretended to be deep in sleep. As soon as she was done and left, the man came in and then stared at the blood and my seed that were still wet on my loin with an odd mixture of satisfaction and fury."I was informed that you fought her. Good, hearing otherwise would have made m
She was back earlier than I had imagined. Her face was now flame-bright, filled with determination and a kind of anger. She slowly shrugged off her nightgown and let it drop to the floor, and I immediately cast my gaze off when her hand pulled the hem of her pants. Her voice came slowly to me. "You can fight me if you want, Sir. But I assured you, it won't do either of us any good."I would not have answered even if I could. All I ever wanted at that moment was to cut the throat of whoever gave her the courage to try again. "You must have realized that I'm a virgin." I didn't know she was a virgin, nor did I believe her. Yet, her words have the desired effect on me. Effects that made me squirm my face and wish it to stop. I shivered when she placed a cold palm on my chest, tracing a slow path to my bellybutton. Goddamned it. I had expected my rage to distract me, but I was wrong. My body started reacting to her. To her nakedness and her touch. Her voice was in a whisper when she
"I must have a child, and it must be conceived immediately. Your eyes and hair look like my husband's own, and that was the reason why you were chosen, for this child must look like him." I paused my speech, inhaled deeply, and then resumed, "So we must make love tonight, and the next, and the next until your seed is planted inside of me. I like this no better than you, but I have no choice, and neither do you," I said, dropping my gaze to the bed because I was ashamed to watch him as I explained the horrid situation to him. His chain rattled, but I would not look towards those expressive eyes of his. Instead, I took hold of the sheet covering him, flipped it to the end of the bed, and then watched it slithered to the floor. My eyes were then drawn to his loin and widened to their full roundness. There, truly, was the monstrous weapon I had heard tales of. It lay soft and still in a bed of golden curl.A growl came out of his throat when I was done with my explanation. And this mad
Bella's POV"I'm so sorry, Mister," I said in a whisper and then wondered why on earth I was whispering when we were alone. "I don't want to hear what you have to say, but I will tell you why you are here."His eyes snapped open, his head turned slightly towards me, and I could feel his hot gaze on my face. I know he wanted all his questions answered, but I can't give him that. I can only tell him what I had to, and nothing more. But then, I find it difficult to start. "I-I-you and I-we-we must-."His gaze lingered on me. "Well, what I'm trying to tell you is that -." I paused my speech as I heard the scratch on the door, and a kind of relief spread over my face when the door jerked open and Moana stepped inside. Her sudden presence made me temporarily forget the man on the bed, who by now had strained nearly every muscle in his body as he waited for me to get to the point of my explanation. And I could see the disappointment on his face when the explanation wasn't forthcoming.I can
Baron's POV. "Get out! I don't need your help to rape this man. Just send me Moana to revive him."Those were the exact words that I heard as I regained my senses. I did not open my eyes. I had been a man of war for too long to give away such advantage. A second later, I heard a door shut, and everything became silent. What on earth did she mean? Females don't rape. How could they? Maybe she wasn't referring to me. Probably a kind of jest. No more than that. I was alone for the moment, but I was sure that the screeching female would likely be back soon. How soon is what I don't know. I opened my eyes and stared at the ceiling. Candles glow from the middle of the room, casting a luminous light around me. Pain sliced through my head as I turned to stare at the door. And this made me close my eyes and be still for a moment. I know I was on a soft bed, and this realization kind of made me feel at ease. After all, a bed no matter how small is better than to be thrown into a cell. I a
Baron POVEither my attackers were clumsy with their weapons or they were not trying to kill me. Well and good, that was their mistake. I wounded another and leaped at another when I felt a pain at the back of my neck. I had been shot by a silver bullet. The only weapon that can kill a werewolf. The pain takes hold of me immediately, blinding me and then knocking me into unconsciousness. Blood appeared in the dark blonde hair that was still wet from my bath, but I was still alive. "This is not an Omega or rogue as we were told to find," one of the men said to others. "He must be a Gamma or a Beta. Surely not an Alpha because no Alpha will be alone in this type of environment," the other man added."We have made a grave mistake. We could have told the difference when we saw him emerging out of the bathing room," the third man chipped in. "Well, he had the right color of eyes and blonde hair that Alpha Damon insisted on. And that's what matters as long as I'm concerned," the fourth
A laugh bubbled up in my throat but came out as a soft wail. What would Damon do now? This is not my fault, is it? If I had not refused...but how could I know a little defiant would kill him?Was he truly dead? I would not touch him to find out. Even now, the thought of touching him seemed repugnant to me. Yet, someone had to find out. Out of fear, I leaped out of the bed, ran for the door, then out into the hall, and right into Damon's chest."You are fleeing your marital bed just as I thought," he said with marked displeasure. "I know you planned to run away. This won't happen. You will go back in there and -.'"He is dead, Damon!" I blurted out. Damon's hand squeezed my hand painfully for a while. He then released one and dragged me back into the chamber with the other hand. He went straight to Alpha Gwen's side and put his head on his chest, and his expression was dark when he finally looked up at me. "Why do you kill him?""Me! No. I didn't do anything," I yelled back and took
