Catherine POV

I braced myself for impact as he pulled the trigger but I never felt it, but the loud thud of the body that dropped right in front of me hurt me more than numerous gunshots ever could.

"Mum" I whispered in fear, placing her limp body on my lap, my hands shook as my heart thumped loudly against my ribcage.

"I love you, my child, I always have" She murmured, breaking into coughing fits as blood poured out from her mouth. The bullet had gone straight to her heart, she was bleeding more than she should. Why was she here? She was supposed to be safe with the others, she had called earlier that Luke was safe with her and they never even got to him and I told her I would come to check on him once we were back with Paige and the twins.
