“So yes, everything is ‘cool’. Provided you keep your personal opinions about staffing decisions to yourself.” Oliver said with a softened tone. “Alright,” Marius said casually and sighs. “You okay, you seem… a little emotionally charged, compared to normal.” Marius observed accurately. Oliver’s expression hardened at Marius’ observation, his resting bitch face sliding back into place as he struggled to regain complete control over his emotions. The casual remark about emotional charge hit too close to home given how openly possessive he had been acting recently. “I am fine,” he stated flatly, picking up a pen and tapping it against the desk blotter with deliberate precision. “Long week combined with pending deadlines creates stress. Nothing you need to concern yourself with.” His blue eyes flicked briefly toward Harpers desk again before snapping back to Marius. “Was there anything else related to work? Because if not, I have emails waiting.”

“No there is nothing else. You should relax more,” Marius said casually. “Come out for a drink with me sometime.” Oliver’s jaw clenched visibly at the suggestion, the casual invitation sending sparks of irritation through his system. The idea of spending time with Marius socially– drinking, relaxing, potentially having conversations about Harper– felt like an invasion of his carefully constructed boundaries. “I don’t drink socially,” he replied curtly, rising from his chair to signal the end of their conversation. “And my schedule is booked solid for the next three weeks.” He moved toward the door with deliberate steps, opening it slightly to indicate Marius should depart. “Enjoy your evening. I will see you tomorrow morning for the weekly strategy session.” As Marius exited and headed back toward his own department, Oliver closed the door with more force than necessary. His breathing came slightly faster as he leaned against the wood surface, heart pounding with anticipation knowing he was mere feet away from claiming what was his.

Oliver stood there for a moment, collecting himself. The adrenaline from the encounter with Marius still coursed through him, mingling with the anticipation of Harpers earlier promise. His breathing slowed as he forced himself back into CEO mode, though the tension in his shoulders remained visible. He returned to his desk and sank down into his chair, grabbing the financial review binder with renewed determination. Twenty minutes until Mr. Andrew arrived– enough time to get some actual work done before claiming his prize. Fifteen minutes later, as Oliver typed out notes about quarterly projections, he opened his drawer to get a highlighter, then he saw Harper black laced bra. The sight of her discarded lace bra nested among the stationary sent a jolt of electric memory through his entire system. His breath caught in his throat as he stared at the delicate fabric, remembering vividly how it had looked against her skin yesterday when he couldn’t resist pulling her onto his desk.

His grip tightened on the highlighter, knuckles turning white as blood rushed southward with painful urgency. The professional distance he had maintained all day evaporated in an instant, replaced by a surge of raw need that made his chair feel suddenly constricting. With a curse under his breath, Oliver slammed the drawer shut and stood abruptly, pacing toward the window overlooking the city skyline. His heart hammered against his ribs as images flashed through his mind– her bare legs wrapped around his waist, the way she arched into his touch when he teased her mercilessly.

Harper watched from her desk as Marius left Oliver’s office and Oliver closed the office door. She knew fairly well how frustrated he must be by now. Her heart beat harder against her ribs as she remembered that heated, passionate look in Oliver’s blue eyes. He looked like he wanted to rip her clothes of right there and then. She tried hard to distract herself from thinking about him or remembering the deal she made. Five minutes before his meeting with Andrew, Harper received an email from Andrew.

To: HarperMiller@ThreadForm.com

Subject Line: 6 PM meeting

Dear Mr. Williams

Regarding our meeting today, I do apologize for the short notice, but I will not be able to attend. An urgent matter has come up. I will reschedule as soon as possible.

Warm regards, Andrew

Harper carefully read the email. A part of her was concerned about Andrews’s cancelation, it wasn’t like him to cancel a meeting. In the few months she had worked at ThreadForm, she had found Andrew to be a dedicated accounted who actually enjoyed his work and was particularly good at it. She had come to respect him for that.

Dear Andrew

Thank you for your notification. I look forward to rescheduling and I hope everything if well.

Warm regard, ThreatForms

After sending the reply, Harper glanced toward Oliver’s closed door. Suddenly feeling nervous she took a deep breath and stood up from her desk. As she slowly approached the office door, she felt herself becoming more and more nervous but also excited. She had never done anything inappropriate at work or anywhere it shouldn’t be done. But she couldn’t deny the appeal of doing something so forbidden.

There was a light knock-on Oliver’s office door. As the door slowly opened, he turned to see Harper standing there in the doorway. She cleared her throat before speaking. “I received an email from Andrew. He won’t be able to attend the meeting, something came up,” she said softly, almost shyly. Oliver’s entire demeanour shifted in an instant, the professional CEO façade crumbling completely. The news that Mr. Andrew had cancelled gave him an opening he hadn’t dared to hopped for– an entire hour alone with her before the rest of the office emptied out. “Cancelled?” he repeated, his voice dropping tot hat dangerous whisper she had come to recognize. “Perfect.” He stood up from his desk and strode around his desk towards her with deliberate steps, closing the distance between them until he could reach out and pull her inside by the waist. The door clicked shut behind her with finality.

“I am yours,” she said softly. “I promise. No more gifts from anyone. I am sure you will make it worth my while.” Oliver’s entire body visibly relaxed at her complete surrender, the possessive tension melting into pure adoration. A slow, predatory smile spread across his face as he processed the weight of her promise. “Good girl,” he praised thickly, his voice dripping with satisfaction. “You have no idea how long I have wanted to hear you say that.” His hands moved from her back to slide up alone her ribcage until they cupped both breasts firmly through the red laced bra. Thumbs circled her nipples slowly while his lips returned to assault hers hungrily. “You will never regret choosing me,” he vowed against her mouth between kisses. “I will buy you everything you want– jewelry, designer clothes, whatever makes you feel like the queen you are.” The possessive promises flowed freely now that boundarie

“It is adorable how impatient you get,” Harper said with a bright smile. “Most me don’t put in the work like that.” Oliver’s expression softened completely at her compliment, a rare blush colouring his cheeks. “Impatience is my biggest flaw when it comes to you,” he admitted gruffly, lowering himself fully onto the mattress beside her. His large hands framed either side of her head as he propped himself up on his elbows, studying her face with an intensity that bordered on reverence. “Most men don’t know what they are missing,” he continued quietly. “They want easy conquests or women who play games. You are different.” His thumb brushed along her jawline tenderly. “You make me work for it and I fucking love every second of earning your attention.” The confession hung in the air between them, vulnerability exposed beneath layers of CEO confidence and possessiveness.“Good,” Ha

“Says my boss,” Harper says seriously and drains the water in the sink. “I have to catch up your new secretary on your schedule and then settle in at my new desk.” She wiped her hands dry with the dish cloth hanging on the hook. Then she easily puts away the clean dried dished before going to sit down beside Oliver at the dining table. He watched her sit down beside him, his expression shifting from playful to thoughtful as he considered her practical proposal. “How about you leave early tomorrow morning, it is no big deal if the boss is late. And tomorrow afternoon I will bring some clothes over to your place,” she says practically. Taking a bite of his pizza slice, Oliver chewed slowly while processing her plan. “Alright, alright,” he conceded with a reluctant nod. “Early departure it is. But only because you are being sensible and I can’t argue with your logic.” He pointed his pizza slice at her accusingly. “Don’t think this makes you less tempting though. Knowing I have to leave

“Subtle, huh?” Oliver murmured against her mouth. “I like that. Means I will have to work harder to keep up with my girlfriend’s sneaky possessiveness.” His tongue traced the seam of her lips before sliding inside to taste her more thoroughly. The wall at her back became an anchor as he pressed her against it, letting her feel exactly how much he had been anticipating this moment all day. When he finally pulled back for air, Oliver rested his forehead against hers while his breathing remained ragged. “The pizza will arrive soon,” Harper protested weakly. “And it is my turn to do the dishes.” Oliver groaned dramatically at the reminder of real-word responsibilities, setting her back down on her feet reluctantly. “Pizza can wait. Dished can definitely wait.” He checked his watch quickly before shaking his head dismissively. “Driver knows out address. He will leave it at the door if we don’t answer.” His hands framed her face again, thumbs brushing along her cheekbones as he studied ev

“Which floor are we climbing to? Better hope it’s not the fifth floor or I might have to carry you up there.” His tone was teasing but his grip on her waist indicated he wouldn’t hesitate to follow through on the threat if needed. “The third floor,” Harper said with a soft smile. “And there is no need to carry me. I am very fit considering I have been going up and down these stairs for six months now.” Oliver’s eyebrows shot up in impressed surprise. “Third floor and you have been doing this for six months? Damn, I am starting to think my gym membership is useless compared to your natural stamina.” His hand squeezed her hip approvingly as they started up the first flight of stairs. the sound of their footsteps echoed in the stairwell, creating a sense of privacy despite being in a public building. “Good to know you are not one of those girls who expects me to sweep her off her feet literally,” he added with a dry chuckle. “Though I wouldn’t complain about having an excuse to hold yo

  • Paperwork and Hearthbeats   Chapter 55: Past Indiscretion

“It was my first week, he asked me out for a drink and… and we had a one-night stand,” Harper said bluntly and then she held her breath waiting for Oliver’s reaction. His entire body went rigid, the protective hand on her thigh tensed instinctively. For a long moment, he said nothing, simple staring at her with an unreadable expression as the city lights streamed past outside the car window. The silence stretched between them, heavy with unspoken emotion. Finally, he let out a short humourless laugh that held no warmth whatsoever. “So, while I was busy think you were this innocent little thing straight out of college, you were sleeping with one of my junior executives.” His voice was dangerously calm, each word carefully measured. The driver up front seemed oblivious to the storm brewing in the backseat. “And how many times since then?” he asked quietly, turning his head to look out at the passing traffic. “Has he been bothering you? Making passes at work? Because if he has–“ He sto
