Imogen’s POV

I stirred as the light, filtering in through the window, hit my face. I made to stretch but I bumped into another body. My eyelids immediately flew open, I craned my head and found Agatha fast asleep behind me, with her arm still draped loosely around my chest.

A warm feeling slowly began to fill my chest but I immediately pushed it away. The last time Agatha had been this way with me was when I was thirteen and had gotten my period for the first time. I had been so terrified and uncomfortable, my father had to call Agatha and she came back home to give me ‘the talk’. I had felt so much better. But Agatha was gone the very next morning and I didn’t see her until my fourteenth birthday when she took me away.

Agatha was terrible at showing love, if I didn’t know better I would think she wasn’t my mother. For every tiny act of love she showed me, she ripped my life further apart. She may have given birth to me, but she was not my mother. She never has been.

Imogen’s POVI sat in front of my keyboard, clicking away, the entire world fading away. It had been a while I worked on Theo’s book, giving everything that was happening around me. But something about the way Jules’s office smelt of cinnamon with a hint of roses, made my brain kick into writers mode.Thankfully, Jules’s took Ollie with her, so I had no distractions. But it was already getting late, so I knew I had to start rounding up to get Ollie in bed before it was past his bedtime.“Imogen!”My head snapped up almost immediately. Jules stood at the door, with a chocolate stained apron draped around her dress. I had not even notice when she came in.“Where did you go to? I’ve been calling you.”I chuckled. “Sorry. I was in the zone.”She rolled her eyes as she took off her apron and hung it on the hook. “I’m almost done for tonight. Just as soon as we hand over the cake samples. That reminds me, would you be sleeping at your place or mine? I have a good bottle of wine and I know a

Mason’s POVI chuckled, not because I suddenly find Anthony funny, but because that was the only way to keep myself from slamming my fist into his face.“I’m just saying, if Mason doesn’t have the balls to do what is needed, then I don’t think he is fit to run this empire,” Anthony added with a shrug.“And by what needs to be done, you mean to remain in business with the Padelecki’s?” I scoffed.“I went through the accounting books, we were drowning in debt, the company was this close to being wound up. It is because our father went into business with the Padalecki’s, that is why you still have a roof over your head and a yatch with your name on it!”“Enough!” Theo finally spoke up, slamming his hand into the table. “I did what I had to do to save my company and I regret nothing,” he gave me a pointed look, before taking out his cigar case and placed a cigar in between his lips.“No one is blaming you father. You did what you had to do and today, everyone –” Anthony glanced at me, “ –

  • Passion or Revenge    54 – Pot Roast

Imogen’s POVMy heart drummed in my ears as I paced back and forth in my living room. The picture of the black SUV flashed in my head again. It couldn’t be a coincidence that the Livingston's SUV happened to be passing through the same restaurant that I and Leila were together all the way at the outskirt of town. It could have been the vehicle that Leila said was following her earlier.Oh God. Could Mason also be behind the murder of Leila's fiance, Mark? Was he an even worse monster than I gave him credit for?The car had definitely being tailing Leila, that was for sure. I had followed the SUV for a while and noticed it was still following Leila, I had to give Leila a call to inform her that she was being followed. It had to be Mason tailing her or maybe one of his goons. If I had any doubts about Mason being a killer, this has just cleared up my doubts. I am going to be in so much trouble if whoever was tailing Leila, saw us together. Now Mason would know that I am in contact wit

  • Passion or Revenge    53 – LIVINSTN

Imogen’s POV I sat in a booth at the end of the room, with a clear view of the door, tapping my manicured nails nervously on the table. The waitress walked up to me for the third time in one hour. “Would you like a refill of your coffee, ma’am,” the red haired, middle aged woman asked, holding a coffee pot in her hand. “Sure,” maybe now she would leave me alone to worry in silence. This would be my third refill. Somehow she knows when my cup is empty and shows up asking if I needed a refill. Almost like she was subtly telling me that I couldn't stay in the restaurant without ordering anything. Or in this case, I couldn't retain my sit if I didn't have another refill. “Would you like anything else?” she asked with a practice smile as she poured my coffee. “No,” I replied curtly. My eyes kept darting between the doors, every time I heard it open, and the window. It was drizzling outside and the window was coated with fogs making it a little difficult to see anyone outside. Leila w

  • Passion or Revenge    52 – Stay the Course

Imogen’s POVI couldn’t sleep.I moved around my house restlessly, from my bedroom to the sitting room, back to my bedroom then to the bathroom and finally to Ollie’s room. I leaned against the door frame and watched my little miracle sleep. My number job was to make sure Ollie was safe at every point in time and to make sure he had a normal childhood and by extension, a good life. Whatever this was that Genevieve discovered was dangerous and it cost her life and the life of her little daughter, Mae. I couldn’t do that to Ollie, if I died, who would take of him. He could be thrown into the system or worse, the Livingston’s would take him.And if I was as unlucky as Genevieve, Ollie could die too,Leila’s words replayed in my head. ‘Let it go.’I exhaled noisily. I had to let this one go. There would be other less dangerous ways of bringing down Mason Livingston and the rest of his family. I would stick with Tim’s plan, it might be dangerous but at least it doesn’t involve the mafia.Q

  • Passion or Revenge    51 – Beautiful Devil

Imogen’s POVI tapped my fingers nervously on the steering wheels of my car, parked just across the road from Genevieve’s parents’ home. People trooped in and out of the house, all dressed in either a dark suit or a black dress, with glum looks on their faces and all had umbrellas over their heads.I exhaled noisily, feeling nervous for reasons I couldn’t quite fathom. All I needed to do was blend in, find her parents, give them my condolences and find out whatever I can. There was absolutely nothing to be nervous about.Feeling my courage return, I grabbed my umbrella and stepped out of the warmth of my car and into the cold air. It was drizzling, making the ground sticky and wet.God, I hated the weather in these parts.Hurriedly, I made my way into the house, where it was warm, dry and gloomy. It wasn’t difficult to spot her parents – well parent – just her mother, a chubby woman with short blond hair. People were flocking around her, probably muttering condolences and spewing wor
