Danny POV
As soon as Brenda was introduced, she started in. “I’m so very glad to meet you. So, Dingo tells me you paint. Do you like salad? Oh Good, let’s leave the men to their man stuff, will you help me pick a few tomatoes for lunch?” She was smiling and excited.
I’ve never really had many girlfriends so this was a little overwhelming. But Brenda had a sense of peace and genuine kindness I could hardly resist. I smiled as she walked over and grabbed my arm.
I didn’t want to leave Davin but Brenda just swept me away to collect tomatoes. He was so handsome, standing there in the sunshine. His eyes taking me in. He slowly let go of my hand saying, “Go on then, we’ll catch up for lunch.”
Brenda was a bubbly woman, she had shoulder length curly blond hair and was shorter then me at about 5’5” and I guessed about my age. She had a kind round face and brown eyes, I knew instantly she was everyo
Dingo/Davin POVI didn’t realize how much I had missed her until she walked in from the kitchen. She was carrying a pitcher of water and as usual my breath caught at the sight of her. She smiled and held my gaze as she walked forward and put the pitcher on the table. I loved how she walked, how her hips swayed. How her curves moved with grace. My beautiful Danalee. As soon as she deposited the pitcher, she came and sat down beside me holding my hand.“Hi.” She said, smiling shyly at me.“Did you miss me much?” I asked her teasingly in a low voice.“Nope.” She replied with a mischievous grin on her face.“You’re lying.” I smiled at her looking deeply into her eyes.“Yup.” She said and let a small giggle escape, blushing deeply.Brenda came in with the salad, “Oh Dingo, you need to bring her back in the spring. I think she has solved my rhubarb troubles and I
Danny POVWhen we had finished lunch, Davin said he wanted to show me something. We politely excused ourselves, which consisted of one last teasing jab from Brad, and Davin led me to the front porch. As soon as we were outside, he spun and pinned me against the wall kissing me deeply. He caught me by surprise and stole my breath away. Then he wickedly smiled and said, “I was dying to do that.”I was too but I wasn’t going to admit it. I just laughed and pulled him down the steps. No one was out at the moment but I still felt oddly shy amongst the houses. “You’re impossible! But your friends are great and this place is breathtaking. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.”He led me toward the trees saying, “Here, I want to show you something.”We walked until we came to a secluded field, surrounded by pines with the sun shining down.I noticed a huge stone bench in the center. Davin took my hands a
Dingo/Davin POV I felt the warm air cool as we laid in each other’s arms on the bench. The heat of the day had come and was now leaving. She would be getting chilled soon. “Danalee, we need to get up and get dressed it’s getting late.” I nudged her. “Mmmmm,” Was all I got from her and she snuggled closer into me. “Come on you. We need to get dressed, you’ll get cold.” I kissed the top of her head. “Okay.” She said as she slowly pulled herself away from me. We got dressed and then I pulled the leaves out of her hair and began the walk back. I could feel her excitement and anxiety build and the questions started coming forth as I figured they would. “Davin, what does it feel like to change? It looked really painful.” She asked quietly. “It was the first time that I changed, but after that it became less and less and now it doesn’t really hurt at all.” “What is it like to be a real wolf? Do you have wolf senses? Do
Danny POV Davin was explaining all the in’s and out’s on how werewolf packs work but I had had one more major burning question. “Where do I fit in?” I asked. Davin grew serious and I could tell this was a topic on his mind. “That is something we need to figure out and soon.” He said lightly but I could tell there was a sliver of worry in his voice. But he soothed over with, “Danalee I have promised that I will never leave you. I will be with you every step of the way. Do you trust me?” I looked at him, “You know that I do, but I also feel like there are things you haven’t told me yet. And that you are worried. You have to trust in me too.” He smiled at me, “That’s why I love you.” He kissed my forehead and led me back to the large building that he told me was called a “Pack House, where unmated members of the Pack and visitors would stay. It was also where the Alpha and Beta families lived and Pack business was conducted.” I laughed, “Oh good
Dingo/Davin POVShe was clearly confused when Nolan came in prepared to draw her blood. I was an emotional idiot getting caught up in things and making mistakes. I let out a chagrinned chuckle and said, “I was so concerned about the bigger things I forgot to tell her we can mind link.”I explained how mind linking worked as Nolan took her blood. She looked exhausted and it was getting late. I spoke with Brad again and we came up with a plan. I would take Danny back home until Brad got a feel for where the Counsel was going with things and then I would bring her back. This would give her the most amount of time to work through things on her terms. The security patrol at the trailer would be reestablished the following day at a greater distance. It was far from perfect but it was the best that we could do. He offered to have her move the trailer up to the Pack lands but I urged against it. 1 to keep her away from the Counsel and 2 because she is still learnin
Dingo / Davin POVI went inside. My heart pounded painfully as I looked at her. Bruised and bloodied she lay there in the guest room Brenda had set up for her. I should have been there. I knelt down beside her bed and took her hand.I am so sorry Danny. I have failed you twice now when all I have ever wanted to do was love and protect you.Davin. She is our mate. If you mark her she will heal faster. Dane said.I cannot without her permission, I have to know that is what she wants too. And yes Dane, I know she is our mate. How else could I have felt her pain from so far away? There is no way that she projected that distance. I want to mark her, but I will not unless she wants it too and it is safe for her. I choked as told him.Brenda brought me some lunch, I told her I’d eat but I really wasn’t hungry. I wanted to be the first thing Danny sees when she wakes up. I want her to know that I am here.A little later
Danny POV I woke up, my eyes didn’t want to open and everything hurt. The world was fuzzy. I heard Davin say, “Hey Baby, I’m here.” “Davin.” I tried to say his name but only a croak came out. Everything hurt. He whispered to me “Shhhhhh. I know Baby, I’m right here. Calm down, I’m right here and I’m never letting you out of my sight again.” I felt him beside me. I couldn’t focus. I thought I heard Nolan. No, I wanted Davin. Then I heard Davin again. “How are you, Danny?” This time I managed to ask him, “Hold me please?” and he did. I felt his warm arms wrap around me. I needed to feel him. He would keep me safe. I fell back asleep. My dream – Blackness and pain. That’s all I felt. I was scared. Was I passed out somewhere, helpless. Why does everything hurt. No, not again I began to shake and cry. But the pain and darkness began to fade as a silver white light began to glow around me. “Hello child,” I heard her.
Danny POV I opened my eyes. I wasn’t in my room. I felt weak and sore but I didn’t hurt. “Ah, Good morning sweetie.” A deep male voice rumbled from the corner. I blinked as I spotted Nick sitting at the small table across the room. “Santa is that you?” I teased. “Well, Dingo is in a world of hurt if you wake up this sassy every morning.” He said and let out a laugh and winked at me. Davin was just walking into the room. “What did I miss?” “Your naughty nip of a girl called me Santa and it’s not even December yet.” He said pretending to be wounded. Davin laughed. I missed that sound. “Well then, I’m off to the North Pole.” He gruffed as he let himself out. “Davin, why was Nick in my room?” I was sure he had a valid explanation but it was still just so unexpected. “Also, where am I?” I asked. Davin came over to me. “Well, you are doing much better.” He said and kissed me. “We are at the Pack House.” He said.
