Oliver's POV

"Oliver! Some girl named Elena is on your phone," Serena called out, her voice cutting through the steady pulse of the bass echoing in my living room. She was holding my phone out, a massive, amused smirk on her face. "Sounds pretty serious."

Julian chuckled from the bar, ice clinking loudly against his glass as he poured another drink. "Yeah, man. She sounded incredibly formal. What did she do, call to schedule a corporate auditing meeting? Who is she?"

I ignored the teasing, my chest tightening slightly as I stepped across the plush rug to take the phone from Serena's hand. I glanced at the screen. It was my personal line.

She's calling early, I thought, a wave of cold satisfaction washing over me.

"Excuse me for a second," I told the group, turning on my heel. I walked briskly toward the floor-to-ceiling glass doors, sliding one open and stepping out onto the quiet, humid terrace. The heavy glass clicked shut behind me, instantly drowning out the loud music and the laughter of the mini-party inside.

I lifted the phone to my ear, keeping my voice smooth and entirely unaffected. "Miss Golding. I didn't expect to hear from you until tomorrow morning."

"I read the papers, Mr. Wyatt," Elena’s voice came through the line. She sounded incredibly tired, but there was a sharp, steady edge to her tone that I hadn't expected. "I’m calling to tell you I accept. I’ll sign the contract."

I leaned against the terrace railing, looking out over the glowing Manhattan skyline. I wasn't surprised. Overhearing her desperate call in the stairwell this morning told me everything I needed to know about her financial ruin, but actually hearing her verbalize the consent made a massive weight lift off my shoulders.

"I knew you would," I replied smoothly, letting a trace of my usual arrogance slip into my tone. "You're a smart woman, Elena. You know an opportunity when you see one."

"But I have conditions," she shot back quickly, her voice hardening. "There are a few clauses in this document we need to discuss before I put my name on anything. I want them adjusted."

A small smile tugged at the corner of my lips. Even when she was completely cornered and desperate to save her sister, she was still trying to negotiate with me. I had to admire her nerve. Most of the executives in my building would have swallowed their pride entirely, but she was still fighting.

"We can look over the details tomorrow morning in my office," I said, checking my watch. "Eight o'clock sharp. Bring the folder with you."

"Fine. I'll see you tomorrow, Mr. Wyatt."

"Goodnight, Elena."

The line went dead before she could say anything else. I lowered the device, staring at the blank screen for a brief second. Step one was officially complete. She was in the game.

I shoved the phone into my pocket, pushed the heavy sliding door open, and stepped back into the warmth of the penthouse. The small crowd of about ten people—mostly close childhood friends who knew me too well to buy a standard corporate PR spin—turned to look at me the second I re-entered.

Serena was still sitting on the edge of the leather sofa, swirling her champagne. "So, are you going to let us in on the mystery? Elena doesn't sound like your usual type, Oliver. Usually, your girls have names like Tiffany or Monique and sound a lot more excited to hear a woman answer your phone."

The group laughed again, throwing out casual jokes. They didn't know her, so it was all harmless teasing, but the timing was absolutely perfect. The board wanted a reformed family man, and my uncle Richard was practically counting down the hours until tomorrow afternoon’s emergency meeting to take my chair. If I wanted this fake marriage to work, I needed to start laying the groundwork right now, starting with the people who knew me best.

I walked over to the bar, picking up my own glass and letting a slow, deliberate smile play on my face.

"Actually," I said, waiting a beat until the laughter died down and I had the room's full attention. "She's not a business meeting."

Julian paused, the bottle of scotch hovering over his glass. "Don't tell me the great Oliver Wyatt actually has a secret girlfriend. Since when?"

"It's new," I said, keeping my tone perfectly grounded. I forced a touch of softness into my voice—a quiet, protective cadence I had never used in my life. "We met recently, and... I don't know, guys. She’s completely different from anyone I’ve ever been with. She’s just an everyday girl. Completely real, and she doesn't give a damn about my money, my startup, or my title."

Serena blinked, looking genuinely surprised. "Wait. Are you serious? You're actually caught up on a regular girl?"

"I am," I said, looking down at my drink as if I were being private about my feelings, letting them see a rare flash of vulnerability. "Honestly, she completely caught me off guard. I met her and it just... hit me. I think she might be the one. I'm actually thinking about settling down."

Julian stared at me for a long three seconds, searching my face for any sign of a joke, before a massive grin broke out across his features. He set the bottle down and walked over, clapping a heavy hand onto my shoulder.

"Holy hell, you're not joking," Julian laughed, shaking his head. "Look at your face. You're completely head over heels, aren't you? The notorious playboy has finally been tamed."

"Shut up, Julian," I muttered with a fake, embarrassed chuckle, playing the part flawlessly.

As the group erupted into excited murmurs, raising their glasses to toast to the shocking news, I took a slow sip of my drink and watched them through the rim. If my closest friends bought the story this easily, the board of directors wouldn't stand a chance tomorrow.

Elena Golding was going to save my company, and she didn't even know it yet.

Oliver’s POV The silence between us at the breakfast table felt warm and comfortable. Watching Elena talk about her parents and her little sister, I felt a deep sense of respect for her. She had carried so much heavy pain on her young shoulders without ever complaining or giving up. I finished my coffee, setting the white ceramic cup down on its saucer with a quiet clink. Looking across the table at her, I noticed the soft flush still resting on her cheeks. She looked relaxed now, but I hadn't forgotten the way her eyes had widened in panic when she first walked into the room this morning. I knew why she was nervous. I knew she was thinking about the kiss outside her bedroom door last night. I had purposely chosen not to bring it up. I saw how flighty she was when it came to us. If I brought up the kiss, if I pressed her about what it meant, I knew she would retreat behind her walls. She would start worrying about the contract, apologize for breaking the rules, and try to run awa

Elena’s POV The morning sun crept through the curtains, waking me up early. The moment my eyes opened, the soft magic of the night before vanished, replaced by a sudden wave of sheer panic. I sat up in bed, my heart instantly racing. Oh my God, I thought, pulling the blanket up to my chin. I kissed Oliver last night. I actually kissed my boss. My fake husband. I buried my face in my hands. How was I supposed to face him this morning? How was I supposed to walk into the kitchen, look him in the eye, and pretend like I didn't completely ruin the boundaries of our contract? For an hour, I paced back and forth in my bedroom. I tried on three different outfits before settling on a simple jeans and sweater combination. I brushed my hair, checked the mirror five times, and took ten deep breaths before finally gathering the courage to open my door. I walked down the stairs slowly, every step feeling like a mile. When I reached the dining room, I held my breath and looked around. The ta

Oliver’s POVThe quiet click of Elena’s bedroom door closing echoed through the empty hallway.I stood rooted to the spot, my hand still raised in the air where her face had been just seconds ago. My skin was still warm from her touch, and my lips were tingling from the softness of hers.I stared at the closed wooden door, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird.Part of me wanted to step forward, raise my hand, and knock on the wood. *Should I talk to her about it? Should I turn the handle and go into her room right now?*I took a half-step toward her door, my fingers hovering over the polished handle. But I stopped myself. If I went in there right now, with my chest burning and my mind spinning, I didn't know what I would say. I didn't know if I could keep the distance we were supposed to have.Slowly, I let my hand drop to my side. I turned around, walked down the hall to my own bedroom, and pushed the door shut behind me.I didn't turn on the lights. I just walked o

Even if some of them were secretly wondering about my sudden appearance in Oliver’s life, no one showed it. Everyone treated me with immense respect, hanging onto my every word and congratulating us on our marriage.By the time the event wound down and we stepped back into the quiet backseat of the black limousine, my feet were aching, but my heart was lighter than it had been in months. The car moved smoothly through the quiet, lit-up city streets.I leaned back against the leather seat, turning my head to look at Oliver. He had loosened his black bow tie slightly, looking relaxed as he stared out the window."Oliver?" I said softly. He turned his head toward me, his dark eyes

Oliver’s POVThe grand ballroom of the hotel was filled with bright lights, towering floral arrangements, and the soft hum of classical music playing in the background. Every major board member, shareholder, and corporate partner of Sterling Global and Wyatt Enterprises was in the room.I stood on the raised stage, holding the heavy gold pen as I signed my name at the bottom of the final contract. Beside me, the CEO of Sterling Group signed his copy, and we shook hands in front of a sea of flashing cameras.Once the clapping quieted down, I stepped up to the podium microphone. I looked across the crowded room until my eyes found Elena standing near the front row, glowing in her deep emerald gown."Tonight is not just a major victory for our company," I said, my voice carrying clearly through the speakers. "It is also a deeply personal milestone for me. Standing beside me through this entire process has been my incredible partner. I want to officially introduce you all to my wife, Elen

Elena’s POVFriday evening arrived sooner than I expected. After spending the morning at the office finishing up the last-minute preparations for the Sterling Group deal, I went back home to the penthouse around four o'clock to get ready for the party. When I opened the front door, I stopped right in my tracks. The living room was full of people. Three women in matching black aprons and two men with large metallic cases were standing near the couch. On a tall rolling rack in the center of the room hung my deep emerald green gown from *Aurelia*, neatly steamed and ready."Mrs. Wyatt?" a woman with short blonde hair asked, stepping forward with a bright smile. "I'm Sarah. Mr. Wyatt sent us to help you get ready for the evening."I stood there, completely surprised. "Oh... I didn't know he was sending a whole team.""He wanted to make sure everything was perfect for you tonight," Sarah said smoothly, gesturing toward the hallway. "Lead the way to your room, Mrs. Wyatt. We'll set everythi
