ETHAN
My blood boils with anger as I see Maya wipe her tears. “It's okay, I will take care of it.” I say. “Oh, please. It's way beyond you and I. It's not about me, it's because I'm from silver moon pack. It will never stop.” “I will get them to stop. You didn't do anything to them, and if they don't stop troubling you, they will have to deal with me.” I snorts. She tilts her head to the side, and she gives me that look that says that she doesn't trust me. “Why are you even helping me, asshole?” “Because, monkey, I'm the only one who is allowed to bully or prank you.” I say. “Where is the fun in it if you are too sad and depressed to fight me?” She smiles, even though I still see tears in her eyes. This pleases my wolf, he hates to see her sad. “Come, let's go to the bedroom,” I say to her. I grab her hand, before she could protest, and I pull her back into the room that we share. She tries to grab her phone, but I snatch it from her hands. She hasn't gone through social media, and it's best we keep things that way. “I will hold on to your phone for the next few days,” I murmur as I slip it into my back pocket. “Who said you can do that? It's not like you're my father.” She hiss. “Yeah, right.” I snort. “So, are you going to tell me where you are coming from, monkey?” Her face immediately turns red, and she looks away from me. “I… it's none of your business, Ethan.” “You are such a stubborn girl.” I shake my head. “Don't leave the house today. I am out to train with some of the boys, but I will be back shortly.” I grab a shirt from my side of the closet and lift it up. My eyes wander to Maya, and I see that she seems to be lost staring at my body. She has been doing this thing when she stares at me with dreamy eyes. Maybe there is a weird stain on my abs, I run my hand over my stomach, and look at it, but there is nothing. “Maya, are you okay? Why do you keep staring like that?” “Like what?” She swallows a gulp. “I have no idea what you are talking about.” I just chuckle and put on my shirt. “Don't leave this room, okay? And don't try to search anything on the internet!” I bang the door shut, and breathe out in relief. I can't stop pretending now, I lean against the wall and run my fingers through my hair. “What's wrong with you, Ethan? Your father is going to kill you.” I murmur to myself. Maybe training vigorously with the boys would do me some good. Maybe I will stop perceiving the mate scent from my stepsister and being weirdly protective of her… ***** I am waiting for her in the car for school, it's raining, but she gets into the car without a cardigan. “Where is your cardigan, monkey?” I frown. “What? It's not even that cold.” I would have made her go back to get one, but we might be late, so I just take mine off and drop it on her lap. “Hey, asshole, there is no need for that.” “I'm the one who will get grounded if you catch a terrible cold.” I scoff as I start the car. She gives up without any more protest, and we start to head to school. Today, I am extra aware of Maya's presence in my car. I don't know what happened, but days ago, I felt a shift in myself and my wolf, when it comes to her. I keep glancing at her, making sure that she is okay, and I don't tell her that I plan to beat up that kid that started that silly rumor… I thought I was imagining things, I thought that I was becoming crazy, but over the days, her emerging scent has become stronger. It's true that silver moon bloodline matures a little earlier than others, but she is still so young. She is just sixteen. And why am I getting her scent? She is supposed to be my stepsister for fuck sake. A car suddenly cuts us, and I have to step on the brake so abruptly that Maya is sent forward with such a crazy force. In reflex, I throw my hand in front of her, protecting her from getting hurt. She gasps as she grabs on to my hand in fear. Her warm hand causes me to stop for a second. I can feel her heart beating. I am so close to her… “Are you okay?” I ask her in a protective tone. “Yeah, I'm fine.” She nods with a shaky voice. I growl as I take off my seatbelt and lean to her. I pull her seatbelt and fasten it around her. “Seatbelt, monkey. You never listen to me.” I murmur. She breathes and I raise my head, staring so deeply into her eyes. Why have I not noticed how her eyes are an interesting kind of brown? So dark, like extra sweet honey? Maya looks away and clears her throat. Yeah, that was weird. I almost kissed my stepsister. What's wrong with me? Thankfully, we don't say anything else while I resume the drive to school. Once we get to school, she steps out with her bag and says goodbye to me. “Wait!” I grab her hand before she could leave the car. “What do you have this morning, monkey?” “What?” “Just answer the question.” “Supernatural studies, why are you asking?” “Nothing.” I let go of her hand. “Just, meet me at the basketball court after your class, okay? Don't ask me why, just do it.” The normal Maya would have whined and said something smart and witty, about me not being her father, and how she doesn't have to listen to me, but she just bites down her lower lip with an obedient nod. She will be there. She leaves the car, and I watch her walk away with her head hung low. My protective eyes follow her, until she turns to the bend that leads directly into her classroom. I need to come up with a plan. Moonrise academy is not just a highschool, it's filled with different students from different packs (even the bad ones). I have to come up with a plan to protect my stepsister. Her scent is getting stronger by the day, and soon, even predators will be able to pick it up…MAYA Of all the people that Miss Waters could pick. How am I going to concentrate when its freaking Cole? He is shirtless, and his abs look like they were chiseled by a master sculpture. He is glistening with sweat, and his chest moves as he breathes heavily from his workout. “Dear moon goddess, please help me.” I murmur under my breath. “Keisha.” Cole nods at Miss Waters. “Hello, Cole.” She returns his acknowledgement. A student is on a first name basis with a member of the school supernatural committee. I guess that's one of the perks of being the youngest Alpha ever. “Miss Smith is your student.” She gestures to me. “You have two weeks, make sure you train her excellently.” “I will do my best.” He says. Miss Waters turns to me, as if to say ‘be good’ with her eyes, then she leaves me with Cole. Cole draws closer, and his scent feels my nostrils. Gosh, it's so intoxicating. It only happens to me when I'm around Cole or Ethan…“Take off your jacket, princess.” “No.” I an
MAYA I soon realize why Alpha Lance has sent for me. Ethan didn't tell me, my mum didn't call to tell me, I found out on the internet. Alpha Ray was a feared man, but my father killed him like a common wild pig in the forest and hung his body on a tree after taking out his eyes. My fingers are numb as I stare at the blurry picture of the body on the tree. My father did this? He is a strict Alpha, he is feared by his pack members, but he loved me. I saw him slap my mother once when I was like thirteen. They were in the kitchen, arguing under their breath, standing chest to chest. Then he slapped her so hard that her eyes widened with fright, and her lip had blood on them. I was so shocked that I went to my room and my mother came to see me afterwards. The injury on her lip was covered in multiple layers of red lipstick, and she told me that he didn't slap her, he only affectionately touched her face. She gaslighted me, told me that I wasn't supposed to understand because I wa
ETHAN I can't sleep the entire night because I keep thinking about Maya and what I did to her. She wanted it as much as I did, but that just tells me that we both have been cursed by a malicious spirit. My father is going to kill me for this. I get up very early, and I make sure to make a big breakfast for both of us. It's like some form of apology for my behavior. I hear her coming downstairs, and my throat feels constricted, I can't even bring myself to look at her face. “Woah, you are cooking breakfast like the second time in a roll. Are you trying to poison me or something?” She jokes as she sits down. “Good morning, Maya.” I say. It feels weird calling her by her given name. I'm used to calling her little monkey, but I don't want to do that right now. She looks like she is about to burst into tears now, like my coldness has brought back memories of what happened last night. “I don't like the way you just said my name.” She clasp her hands under the table. “I'm sorry, M
MAYA His strong hands hold me in place while he leans in and gives me a kiss. I have been kissed before, as I have had my own share of boyfriends, but this is my first kiss in years, and first in storm ridge. I wouldn't have ever thought it would be with my own stepbrother. I know that what I am doing is an abomination that could make the moon goddess wipe out an entire pack, but I don't care anymore. His warm lips melt me, and mine parts to receive him. My wolf stirs with encouragement. she likes this too..I moan as I return his kiss with vigor. He is like water, and I am dying of thirst. “We shouldn't be doing this,” I whine. “I know,” he cups my breasts and gently squeezes. “But don't stop, asshole.” I threaten him. “I won't,” he kisses my neck with a short laugh. He is fierce with his skills, but he still manages to drop me gently against the couch, and starts to undo the button of my shirt. I pull at the buckle of his belt. My face feels so hot, I don't even know wha
ETHAN My heart breaks when I see Maya drop her head into her hands. “I knew it. My mother hates me.”I immediately through away the oath I made to myself about staying away from her, and I quickly put my hand around her shoulder. “Don't say that, your mother loves you.” “No, she doesn't! I have been calling her everyday since she left, but not once has she picked up! She hates me because my father made us run away! She has abandoned me!” I sigh and drop my gaze. I want to fiercely defend Sarah, and say that perhaps she was busy and couldn't speak to her daughter, but I know that it's a lie. My father is the beta, he has more responsibilities during this mission than Sarah, but he always takes out the time to call me(I don't even need to call him). My father always makes sure to check in with me everyday to confirm that everything is well with Maya and I, so what's Sarah's excuse? I inhale as I get up to my feet. I leave her in the living room, and walk into the garage. I shut
ETHAN “Well, this is rough,” Gail utters beside me. “Like don't we have enough on our plates? Now Lance is onto all of us.” “It might not be true.” I sigh. “What? That Lance is a fucking terrorist?” He snorts. “I know that he is your stepsister's biological father, but even she can't deny that the man is the literal devil himself.” “Stop, for Maya's sake, please stop.” I urge him. I would be lying to myself if I say that I don't know what the end of the investigation will be, that's if Alpha Lance doesn't claim the death soon. He will be guilty either way. I crunch my nose as I walk back to the car. Gail still needs to drive me back home. He gets into the car and turns on the engine, before easing the car into the deserted road. “We should meet up to practice tomorrow. Our combat must be good, we might be going to war soon.” Gail says. “Gail, I doubt that we are going to war.” I chuckle.“Well, my Uncle doesn't think so.” Gail shakes his head. The rest of the drive is silen
