LOGINETHAN
My blood boils with anger as I see Maya wipe her tears. “It's okay, I will take care of it.” I say. “Oh, please. It's way beyond you and I. It's not about me, it's because I'm from silver moon pack. It will never stop.” “I will get them to stop. You didn't do anything to them, and if they don't stop troubling you, they will have to deal with me.” I snorts. She tilts her head to the side, and she gives me that look that says that she doesn't trust me. “Why are you even helping me, asshole?” “Because, monkey, I'm the only one who is allowed to bully or prank you.” I say. “Where is the fun in it if you are too sad and depressed to fight me?” She smiles, even though I still see tears in her eyes. This pleases my wolf, he hates to see her sad. “Come, let's go to the bedroom,” I say to her. I grab her hand, before she could protest, and I pull her back into the room that we share. She tries to grab her phone, but I snatch it from her hands. She hasn't gone through social media, and it's best we keep things that way. “I will hold on to your phone for the next few days,” I murmur as I slip it into my back pocket. “Who said you can do that? It's not like you're my father.” She hiss. “Yeah, right.” I snort. “So, are you going to tell me where you are coming from, monkey?” Her face immediately turns red, and she looks away from me. “I… it's none of your business, Ethan.” “You are such a stubborn girl.” I shake my head. “Don't leave the house today. I am out to train with some of the boys, but I will be back shortly.” I grab a shirt from my side of the closet and lift it up. My eyes wander to Maya, and I see that she seems to be lost staring at my body. She has been doing this thing when she stares at me with dreamy eyes. Maybe there is a weird stain on my abs, I run my hand over my stomach, and look at it, but there is nothing. “Maya, are you okay? Why do you keep staring like that?” “Like what?” She swallows a gulp. “I have no idea what you are talking about.” I just chuckle and put on my shirt. “Don't leave this room, okay? And don't try to search anything on the internet!” I bang the door shut, and breathe out in relief. I can't stop pretending now, I lean against the wall and run my fingers through my hair. “What's wrong with you, Ethan? Your father is going to kill you.” I murmur to myself. Maybe training vigorously with the boys would do me some good. Maybe I will stop perceiving the mate scent from my stepsister and being weirdly protective of her… ***** I am waiting for her in the car for school, it's raining, but she gets into the car without a cardigan. “Where is your cardigan, monkey?” I frown. “What? It's not even that cold.” I would have made her go back to get one, but we might be late, so I just take mine off and drop it on her lap. “Hey, asshole, there is no need for that.” “I'm the one who will get grounded if you catch a terrible cold.” I scoff as I start the car. She gives up without any more protest, and we start to head to school. Today, I am extra aware of Maya's presence in my car. I don't know what happened, but days ago, I felt a shift in myself and my wolf, when it comes to her. I keep glancing at her, making sure that she is okay, and I don't tell her that I plan to beat up that kid that started that silly rumor… I thought I was imagining things, I thought that I was becoming crazy, but over the days, her emerging scent has become stronger. It's true that silver moon bloodline matures a little earlier than others, but she is still so young. She is just sixteen. And why am I getting her scent? She is supposed to be my stepsister for fuck sake. A car suddenly cuts us, and I have to step on the brake so abruptly that Maya is sent forward with such a crazy force. In reflex, I throw my hand in front of her, protecting her from getting hurt. She gasps as she grabs on to my hand in fear. Her warm hand causes me to stop for a second. I can feel her heart beating. I am so close to her… “Are you okay?” I ask her in a protective tone. “Yeah, I'm fine.” She nods with a shaky voice. I growl as I take off my seatbelt and lean to her. I pull her seatbelt and fasten it around her. “Seatbelt, monkey. You never listen to me.” I murmur. She breathes and I raise my head, staring so deeply into her eyes. Why have I not noticed how her eyes are an interesting kind of brown? So dark, like extra sweet honey? Maya looks away and clears her throat. Yeah, that was weird. I almost kissed my stepsister. What's wrong with me? Thankfully, we don't say anything else while I resume the drive to school. Once we get to school, she steps out with her bag and says goodbye to me. “Wait!” I grab her hand before she could leave the car. “What do you have this morning, monkey?” “What?” “Just answer the question.” “Supernatural studies, why are you asking?” “Nothing.” I let go of her hand. “Just, meet me at the basketball court after your class, okay? Don't ask me why, just do it.” The normal Maya would have whined and said something smart and witty, about me not being her father, and how she doesn't have to listen to me, but she just bites down her lower lip with an obedient nod. She will be there. She leaves the car, and I watch her walk away with her head hung low. My protective eyes follow her, until she turns to the bend that leads directly into her classroom. I need to come up with a plan. Moonrise academy is not just a highschool, it's filled with different students from different packs (even the bad ones). I have to come up with a plan to protect my stepsister. Her scent is getting stronger by the day, and soon, even predators will be able to pick it up…MAYA I almost fainted as soon as I hear those words from Miss Waters' mouth. I kept my secret well, my mother made me to understand that if anyone found out that I was without a wolf, I would be kicked out if the pack! My am shivering like a leaf on a windy day, and covered in fat beads of sweats. This is not a good look for me. It's like I've already doomed myself with this guilty reaction. Miss Waters looks me in my eyes and nod encouragingly. “Maya, you know that it's against the laws for a wolfless person to knowingly stay in a pack?” My mouth open to defend myself, but no words comes out. I can imagine my mother in my mind, screaming at me to defend myself. But I can't. I'm sorry, mum, I've failed you…Before I know what's happening, Gia and the rest of the girls join me on the stage. The look of glee on their faces is something that would haunt me for many nights. Victoria and her clique are whispering to each other excitedly, while Gia stands forward, with her hands cl
ETHAN Like we all expected, Maya becomes depressed and ill for the next few days. She misses her mother, and there was nothing any of us could do to make her feel better. Thankfully, after losing another wife, my father didn't fall into depression and alcoholism again. Instead, he became a workaholic. He used to do work constructing houses for the pack, but he stopped once he rose to become Beta. One fateful day, I wake up to the persistent banging of a hammer. “What the fuck,” I rub my eyes as I sit up on my bed. I am getting a headache, and I want to yell for whoever that is to stop. Luckily, Maya is sleeping like a log, so I have the time to act. I don't bother to grab myself a shirt as I walk downstairs and through the garage door. Just like me, my father is shirtless with a tool belt strapped around his waist. He is playing loud rock music, and he is literally tearing down the fucking garage. I feel like I have time traveled, and I'm seeing the chaotic version of my fa
ETHAN There's no way that she is missing. I want to scream in my father's face, slam him against the wall, and implore him never to say such nonsense ever again. How can Sarah be kidnapped by her ex-husband? The same one she escaped from with young Maya? If there is one thing I know about Sarah, is how she would use her beauty and absolute cleverness to get herself out of situations like this. And my father, I never thought that there would ever be a day that I would look at him with contempt. The old Dad I knew would fight with the last drop of his blood before he would let anyone to lay his finger on Sarah. What happened, and why has he returned with his tail tucked between his legs. What did he see? Thankfully, I don't have to think all day about Sarah's kidnap, so I take my time to make some instant noodles for Maya. Something to cheer her up. The sweet aroma bouncing around our house makes her up. I look up as I turn the mouth watering noodles in a bowl, and I see her r
MAYA My step father ask me to sit down at the table with him and from the very moment I walked into the room, from the moment I had that heavy feeling in my stomach, I knew something had happened. I never wanted my mother to go for this mission. She has never been used to combat, she was a Luna for crying out loud. But she has always refused to listen to me. It's the need to prove to Alpha Lance, and her new husband that she is more than a pretty face. She went on a mission, and now she has not returned. I grip a handful of my cardigan under the table holding my breath and waiting for David to finally look me in the eyes with an answer. “Is my mother missing?” I blurt. “Is she… dead?” “No, Maya.” David and Ethan say at the same time. “Your mother is very much alive and I well, monkey, she is just not here like right now.” Ethan says. Unlike now, his words used to be very reassuring to me, but not today. Not worth that hollow look in his eyes. “You are lying!” I scream in Da
ETHAN Going home would be an absolute disaster. I can still feel the heaviness of my erect penis between my legs, and I know that the last thing that I need now is to see Maya. I get into my car and shut the door with a frustrated bang. I drop my head against the steering wheel, and sigh over and over again. Pulling out my phone, I put a phone call through to Gail. “Hey, man. Are you free to go to the gym?” “Didn't we just go yesterday? My legs are still sore.” “Don't be a pussy, Gail. l'll be there starting with the weights. Don't keep me waiting.” By the time Gail walks in with his bag slung over his shoulder, I am lifting weights heavier than my body size, and I am not slowing down. “Geez, man. Are you preparing for war? Has Alpha Marcus finally announced that he is coming for you?” He chuckles as he drops his bag to the ground. I don't laugh, that's an immediate sign that I'm passing through some serious shit. Luckily, we are the only ones in the gym, but I still turn t
ETHAN My shower is taking longer than usual. My hands are going up and down my back as I stare into nothing. Maya is on my mind, like always, and I'm wondering what I am going to do with her. I have tried to control myself around her, but it has become worse now that her wolf has come out. Her body is warmer than before, and her scent is stronger than ever. This would only mean that more males will be attracted to her. Unfortunately, I'm one of them now, and the thought of others wanting her makes my stomach turn. “Mark her…” my wolf whispers to me in a hypnotic tone. “Shut up.” I growl, wiping my hands over my face. “You are trying to get me killed.” “She is your mate, claim her….” To claim her means to have sex with her, and I don't think I can bring myself to do that– even though that's what I want more than anything in the world…Nah, fuck it. I have to get some relief for myself, especially if I want to be levelheaded around her. I get out of the shower and put on my cl
