Firstly, I wouldn’t say I liked drawing attention, so I tried to live with a low profile for twenty-nine years. It hadn’t been easy finding a suitable boyfriend either, as I preferred to keep my personal life private and not have it excessively scrutinized.

I still had dreams of having a family and a life partner. Someone who would appreciate the simple things in life and didn’t have pretentious needs. He should have had a decent career that matched our easy lifestyle, but definitely not some billionaire or influential big shot like Logan Cunningham, my dad.

I wanted someone who wouldn’t pry into my past. Only one person had truly seen the real me, and that was Chase.

I was certain he’d get it and understand I wanted to break free from my father’s shadow and embrace my own background. I trusted him wholeheartedly. But nope, he still chose Zoey.

The guys I’ve met were blinded by my grand apartment, the flashy car, and my career, and they assumed I was swimming in money.
