Chapter 47

I woke up with a throbbing headache the morning after the upsetting encounter with Russo and the knowledge that he was with another woman. It was a terrible reminder of the tears and anguish that had engulfed me the previous night. I had cried for what felt like hours, and the release of all of those pent-up feelings had left me feeling emotionally depleted and physically spent.

My goal for the day was very clear: I wanted to spend the day inside, where I could avoid the prying eyes of others and the pandemonium that had taken over my life. I was determined to find some peace and quiet within the confines of the estate since the idea of confronting the world outside was overwhelming to me.

The rumbling in my stomach brought to my attention the fact that I was starving while I was in bed.
