Evian’s POV

The auction hall was even more extravagant than I had imagined.

Crystal chandeliers hung from the high ceiling, reflecting soft golden light across the polished marble floor. Rows of elegant chairs were arranged in front of the stage, and well dressed guests moved around the room holding glasses of wine while discussing art, investments, and things that probably cost more than most people’s houses.

I stood near the entrance for a moment, taking everything in.

Beside me, my assistant

Cassian was alone in the house when Kate got there. She was putting on a very short gown that revealed her back. She knew Evian wouldn’t be at home at that time. She tried Evian's mother’s birthday as the door code and it opened.“As expected,” Kate rolled her eyes and stepped inside.Everywhere was silent, as if Kate already thought no one would be inside. As if she knew her way around the house, she went straight to Cassian’s room.Cassian who had just got back from his penthouse and decided to take a shower, was coming out of the bathroom with his towel when Kate entered. He recognized her immediately as Evian's stepsister. “What are you doing here?! Evian is not around right now” “I came to see you,” Kate said and sat on his bed.“I don’t remember us being friends or having any conversation together,” Cassian raised his brows “I’m bringing you an offer,” Kate stood up and walked closer to him.“What was that supposed to mean, do I look like I need an offer from you?,” Kate rolle

Evian sat at her desk, looking at the document in front of her, but her mind was somewhere else.Cassian.Lately, she had started to notice things she couldn’t ignore. It wasn’t anything obvious, just small details. The way he spoke sometimes, the way he carried himself, the quiet confidence he had even when he said nothing. It didn’t match the kind of life he showed her.She leaned back slightly, thinking. Then her eyes moved to her bag.Every time they spent the night together, she paid him. It had always been simple between them. No emotions, no questions, no expectations. And he always accepted it.That was the part that made her pause. If he really had money… real money… would he still take it like that?It didn’t make sense.Evian shook her head lightly and pushed the thought away. She was reading too much into something that didn’t matter. Cassian was just Cassian. Nothing more. She picked up her pen again and focused on the document.A knock sounded on the door.“Come in,” she

Cassian sat at his desk, his laptop open in front of him. The screen showed a video call. His assistant looked tense, almost uneasy.“Sir, you need to come back,” the assistant said, his voice careful but firm. “Chairman Hale is not happy. He already knows you’ve been posing as… as someone without status.”Cassian’s expression did not change. He leaned back slightly in his chair, calm as ever.“He would find out sooner or later,” Cassian said.“This is different,” the assistant continued. “He’s angry. The board is asking questions too. They don’t understand why you would hide your identity and stay away from the company like this.”Cassian tapped his fingers lightly on the table. His gaze was steady, unreadable.“Let them ask,” he replied. “I’ll deal with it when I return.”“Sir, with all due respect, this is not something that can wait. The chairman—”Before the assistant could finish, the door opened.Cassian’s eyes lifted and Evian walked in. For a second, she paused when she notic

Kate I was pacing my room. My head was full of one thought—Francis. I couldn’t stand him anymore. I couldn’t deal with him. He was sweet, yes, but he was weak. He had no money, no power, and he could never give me the life I wanted. I wasn’t going to waste any more time hoping he would change.I looked out of the window at the city lights, but it didn’t calm me. Nothing could. I had to end this now.I took out my phone and texted him. “We need to talk. Now.”I didn’t care if it sounded harsh. I needed him to understand that this was serious. When I got to the café, he was already there. He looked nervous, fidgeting with his tie. He saw me and smiled, but I didn’t return it.“Kate,” he said carefully, “are you okay?”I dropped my bag on the chair across from him and crossed my legs. “I’m fine,” I said, trying to sound casual. My eyes never left him. “I just needed to talk.”“About what?” he asked, frowning.I leaned forward. “About us. About how I feel.”His eyes widened. “How you fee

Kate’s POVI had a lunch reservation at one of the most exclusive hotels in the city, and I intended to make the most of it. My mother insisted that maintaining the right connections was just as important as money itself, so I agreed to meet one of her acquaintances who claimed to have useful business links.Still, I wasn’t in the best mood. The incident at the boutique hadn’t left my mind. Evian’s attitude, her confidence, the way she stood there like nothing could shake her—it was irritating. She had always been quiet, easy to control, easy to overshadow. Now she acted like she was untouchable, and it didn’t sit well with me.I pushed the thought aside as I stepped out of the car and into the hotel lobby. The environment immediately calmed me. The polished floors, the soft lighting, the quiet luxury it was familiar and reassuring. This was my space. This was where I belonged.I walked toward the private dining section, adjusting my bag slightly as I moved. My meeting wasn’t supposed

Evian’s POVThe conference room was already filled when I walked in, and from the way everyone was seated and quietly talking among themselves, it was obvious they had started forming conclusions long before I arrived. That didn’t bother me.If anything, it made things easier.I walked straight in with Laura behind me, my steps steady and my expression calm. Conversations died down almost immediately, and all attention shifted toward me. I didn’t greet anyone. I didn’t smile. I simply took my seat like I belonged there, because I did.Caleb was sitting across from me, looking relaxed and confident, like he had already won. The small smirk on his face made it clear he believed this meeting would go exactly the way he wanted. He was wrong. One of the senior board members cleared his throat and leaned forward slightly. “Miss Evian, thank you for joining us.”“I own a significant part of this company,” I replied. “There was no scenario where I wouldn’t be here.”A few of them exchanged gl

Evian’s POVBy the time I left the company that evening, my mind had already made a decision. The house I lived in was no longer a home. It had become a battlefield where every conversation turned into a confrontation and every step I took was watched like I was some kind of enemy. My father wanted

I called him at noon.He picked up on the second ring.“I want to see you,” I said. There was a small pause on the line. “When?”“Today.”“Time and place.”I liked that about him. No unnecessary questions. No dramatic tone.“Five o’clock,” I said. “I’ll text you the location.”“Alright.”He hung up

I woke up to a knock on my door.It wasn’t soft. It wasn’t polite. It was the kind of knock that assumed I would answer immediately.I opened my eyes slowly and stared at the ceiling for a second. My shoulder still hurt from yesterday. My body felt heavy, but my mind was clear. The knock came again

EvianThe silence after his proposal did not break. It fractured.Kate’s painted smile trembled. My stepmother looked between us like she was watching her entire social ladder rearrange itself. My father tried to speak twice and failed both times. And he just stood there.Calm. Untouched. Certain.
