"Uncle Jack, how are you? Grandma and grandpa asked me to visit and bring noona (big sister in korean) to her fashion show in Vegas." Someone chimed entering the house.

"Van, glad to see you again after almost a decade." I joke while laughing. He laughs as well before responding.

"It's just 5 years uncle. Two years in the military and almost three years playing detective in Guam." He beamed.

"Oh! Just kidding lucky to know you have the time of your life to roam around. Anyway, how's eomma (mother in Korean)?" I asked wondering about my inlaws.

"Still kicking uncle. She's beautiful and doesn't age at all." He replied with envy in his eyes.

"Yeah! She loves to smile to avoid wrinkles. That's her motto!" He can't stop laughing at what I say. I know he misses all these simple moments with my family. He was the closest one to us!
