Chapter 3

Author: Annora
“Are you planning to use Grandma’s birthday banquet to announce to everyone that you’re Dad’s real daughter?” Isabella snapped.

I let out a small laugh. “But I am his real daughter. Aren’t I?”

Isabella froze for a moment. Then, her face twisted with anger. She lunged forward and grabbed my collar, yanking hard.

“Emma, you’re nothing but a filthy slut! Today, I’ll make sure you understand who actually runs this house!”

She clapped her hands sharply, and the servants nearby immediately walked over.

“Strip her!” Isabella ordered. “I want her kneeling here naked for the entire day. I’d like to see if she’ll ever take my clothes again!”

The servants in the house always followed whoever held the most power. They all knew that I, the so-called real daughter of the Deens, had no status here at all. So, they surrounded me and reached for my dress.

I stepped back. “Today is Grandma’s birthday banquet. Aren’t you afraid she’ll find out about this?”

Isabella only sneered, looking pleased with herself. “You’re still counting on that old hag to protect you? She’s practically in the grave already. You think she scares me?”

She waved her hand and added, “Do it. Strip her clothes off and throw her outside. Make her kneel at the gate!”

I struggled desperately, but there were too many of them. My evening gown was torn apart piece by piece. Then, they grabbed my hair and dragged me out of the estate, forcing me down onto my knees on the ground outside.

Guests attending the birthday banquet came and went past the gate. Many pointed at me and whispered among themselves.

“Isn’t that Mr. Deen’s daughter who just came back? Why is she out here?”

“Everyone knows she was picked up from the streets. Who knows what she’s been through… Serves her right.”

I knelt there on the street, teeth clenched, and lips pressed tightly together. Just then, a servant carrying the kitchen trash passed by me. As he walked past, he suddenly slipped. The bucket tipped over, and filthy kitchen slop splashed all over me, from head to toe.

People nearby covered their noses and quickly stepped away, while I remained kneeling there. At that moment, I couldn’t help but think that maybe I should never have come back.

I took a shaky breath. The tears I had been holding back for so long finally fell. My body was starting to give out, but just as I was about to collapse, I saw George walking quickly toward me.

Clinging to the last shred of hope, I reached out to him.

“George, I don’t feel well… Please…”

However, he immediately covered his nose in disgust and stepped aside to avoid me.

“Move, move,” he said. “Bella isn’t feeling well. I need to check on her. You’re covered in germs. I don’t want you to infect her.”

My heart turned cold.

When I had first returned home, and he learned that I was supposed to marry him, George had once treated me gently. He had taken me to the beach and the amusement parks. Those had been the most carefree days of my life. Back then, I thought he was someone I could trust for the rest of my life, but somewhere along the way, everything changed.

Time passed, second by second. Just as I was about to lose consciousness, a powerful kick struck my back and knocked me to the ground. When I saw Liam standing there with a cold expression, my eyes widened.

“Why?” I asked.

“Do you have to ask?” he sneered. “I thought you were just morally corrupt. I didn’t expect you to be so disgusting.”

He grabbed a garden hose from a nearby servant and sprayed me off briefly. Then, he dragged me straight into the banquet hall.

Grandma wasn’t there. Instead, Dad was sitting in the main seat. His eyes were burning with anger as he stared at me.

“Speak, whose b*st*rd child are you?” he barked.

I lifted my head, shock and confusion written all over my face.

“Whose daughter am I? Don’t you know that better than anyone?”

Dad’s face remained cold as he gestured to the servants, who dragged in a ragged old man with messy hair.

“You, tell her.”

The old man trembled slightly before stammering out his words. “Mr. Deen, this really isn’t my fault. Back then, Mrs. Deen got drunk and climbed into my bed herself. Afterward, she even paid me hush money…”

The room instantly erupted in shocked whispers, but the old man kept talking.

“Mrs. Deen was afraid the truth would come out, so she staged that kidnapping herself. She told me to keep the girl with me first, and when she grew up, she’d marry my son. But this girl had ideas of her own. When she was ten, she ran away! I never thought she’d run all the way back here to claim her family…”

The scene shifted to me kneeling in front of Isabella, rain pouring down in sheets, freezing me to the bone. However, Isabella only sneered as she stepped on my head, humiliating me in every way imaginable. Then, I saw an old man charging toward me, completely naked, his face twisted into a savage grin.I woke up with a start, gasping for air, cold sweat dripping from my forehead. Beside me, Callum immediately held me in his arms. He patted my back gently, speaking in a low, soothing voice.I clutched my chest and finally found my voice after a long moment. “I dreamed of… a very strange place, somewhere I didn’t recognize. You were there, and I was too… I-I was… Isabella…”He took my ice-cold hands in his and said, “What you saw in your dream was our past life.”I trembled, unable to speak. He leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead. “It’s okay if you don’t remember. I’ll remember for both of us. I love you. From that life to this one, no matter who you are, I will al

“You believed Isabella’s lies back then and humiliated me at every turn. Now that the truth is out, Isabella has been kicked out of the family, and here you are, coming to me, saying you want to marry me. Who do you think you are?”Liam parted his lips, but no words came out.At that moment, Callum came to my side. He draped his coat over my shoulders, his voice gentle.“It’s cold. Don’t catch a chill.”Liam’s face darkened, and suddenly, with a thud, he fell to his knees.“Em, I’m sorry I trusted that wretched woman… but please, give me another chance…”Beside him, Tim also got out of the car, guilt written all over his face.“Em, I was wrong. I thought you were abusing your power and that she was the victim… I believed every word she said. I couldn’t protect you…”Following behind Tim, George lowered his head and said, “I was blind. It was obvious that she was slandering you, and yet I… I don’t deserve to be your man. I’m not worthy…”They all looked at me in unison, waiting

Callum chuckled. “Mr. Deen, are you still trying to fool yourself at this point? Since I'm standing before you, of course I have solid evidence for all this. Words can be faked, but transfer records and chat records don’t lie.”The living room fell into a suffocating silence. The only sound left was Dad’s heavy breathing.Everyone’s eyes slowly turned toward Isabella. By then, Grandma’s face had turned ashen. Liam and the others looked equally conflicted.Afraid, Isabella instinctively took a step back.“Dad… I… I…” she stammered.Dad’s eyes were bloodshot as he barked at her, “You’d better explain yourself!”With a thud, Isabella dropped to her knees. Her voice broke as she cried out, “I was just… I was just too afraid… I didn’t want people to call me the illegitimate daughter every time my name was mentioned, and that I stole Emma’s life. I didn’t want all of you… to always put her before me. I want to be the one who’s cherished, too. I want to be protected. I want to be the on

“Do you really think someone like him will ever be allowed through the doors of the Garcia family?” Tim said. “You’ve enjoyed the Deen family’s wealth and luxury for so long. Do you really think you can live a poor life now?”Then, he looked straight at me and added, “Emma, there’s a limit to how far you can take a tantrum. I know you’re angry about what happened that day when we refused the marriage, so how about this? You can break off your engagement with this b*st*rd, and I’ll marry you immediately.”Before George could say anything, I raised a hand and stopped him.“Enjoyed?” I asked. “Are you talking about being forced to kneel outside the estate gates? Or being locked in the basement, where the only thing I got every day was a bowl of oats?”Liam’s expression changed instantly. Just as he was about to speak again, a mocking voice rang out from the distance.“Well, well. Isn’t this the little sl*t who secretly got herself married?”Isabella walked over in a custom designer

Now, the girl who had once been humiliated by everyone had become someone else’s wife. They were no longer the ones in control of her life. They could no longer stand above her and draw satisfaction from her pain, and for the first time, it seemed like they were beginning to regret it.Meanwhile, in a mansion located in the city’s most exclusive residential district, I sat quietly in my wedding dress, in the bridal suite that had been prepared. After sorting things out, Callum walked over and stopped in front of me. His eyes were fixed on me, serious and intent.“Em.” His voice was gentle, carrying a faint trace of anticipation. As I looked up at him, he reached into his coat and took out a small amulet.“Do you remember this?”Confused, I shook my head. Callum then sat down beside me on the bed and began telling me a strange, almost unbelievable story. He said that in a previous life, we had been destined for each other. The amulet in his hand was something he had personally p

Tim sneered, “Putting aside whether anyone would even want a piece of trash that’s been played with, don’t forget you were kneeling naked at the front gate two days ago. After seeing that, who would want to marry you?”George snorted. “Why waste time talking to her? Tomorrow we’ll just tie her up and throw her onto Mr. Jackson’s bed. After a few days of being tortured, she’ll learn to behave.”Just then, a cold voice suddenly rang out from outside the door.“Shut up!”The three men blocking the entrance were violently kicked aside. A group of black-clad bodyguards appeared in the doorway. Then, they stepped aside, and a man in a suit walked forward from the middle of the group, his expression cold and unreadable. It was the very man they had mocked earlier, the so-called illegitimate son, Callum Garcia.Liam flew into a rage and pointed straight at him. “What do you think you’re doing?”Callum’s sharp gaze swept across the three of them. The next second, he stepped forward and ki
