Chapter 6: Shouldn't be in love

Chapter 6: Shouldn't be in love

Sixteen hours went by, and during the flight, Luxstay didn't say more than ten sentences to Emma.

On the contrary, Emma saw the fatigue in her eyes.  However, he did not care much, simply thought that just resting for a few days would be fine.

It seemed that every time Luxstay fell asleep, she dreamt of her youth, when she was naive and innocent, how good it was.  If she could go back in time, Luxstay would like to go back to when she was sixteen years old, turning the direction of the gears of fate.

As long as she didn't go to see the meteor that day, this tragedy would never happen.

The weather in country M at that time was much harsher than city S.

After leaving the airport, Luxstay and Emma went straight home.  Madam logically said that she must live in S city. It was said that ten years ago when the Old Master passed away, Madame could not bear it and wanted to avoid the feeling of looking at things that made her remember him.  So, she moved to country M to settle down.

When Luxstay's wedding took place, Madame of course had to go to S City to preside.  Later, the number of times Luxstay and her mother in law met could only be counted on one finger.

Previously, Luxstay was willing to volunteer to love Emma. But the broken mirror, even if it is healed, would never be the same as it was before.

There was still love in her heart, but the feelings would soon be gone. The play she and him built, it's about time to close the curtain.

 "Cough, cough."

Luxstay suddenly had a cough.

 "What's up?"

"Nothing, maybe it's just too cold."

Because Emma asked so, Luxstay reluctantly gave a reason.

Luxstay's body had been weak since she was a child, and it was easy to catch a cold every winter.

Although a cold was not a serious illness, if Emma knew, he would definitely drag her to the hospital.  At that time, she was afraid that even if she wanted to hide it, she would not be able to hide it.

The Bentley slowly entered the mansion's gate.

Luxstay got out of the car, smiled brightly, ran over and hugged Madame.

Madame replied to her embrace, she looked from top to bottom, immediately disapprovingly complaining:

"My daughter. Did Emma  behave badly to you?"

Was he good to her?  Even though Emma rarely openly cared about her, as long as it was a matter related to her health, he would absolutely not take it lightly.

"Mother, he is very good to me."

In general, Luxstay could only answer like this.

Madame grabbed Luxstay's hand, exclaiming:

"Haiz, stupid child."

Finally, she pulled her into the house, leaving Emma outside unconcerned:

"Quickly, quickly, come in, be careful of catching a cold."

 Luxstay suddenly laughed stupidly.

Except for her mother, Madame was the second person to give her a mother's love.

 ……

It was about four o'clock in the afternoon when she and he arrived.  For the next two hours, Luxstay sat and talked with Madame, while Emma went to his room to handle the work.

She didn't know since when the sun had set its shadow.

 "Emma, can you come in?"

Luxstay said a word and then carefully pushed the door open.  She peeked her head in first, then slowly moved past.

The whole room was quiet at that time. Without a sound, Emma fell asleep on the table.

Luxstay bit her lip and crept closer, she stared at him for a moment.  Was he really sleeping?  Was he really asleep?  In the past two years, she had rarely seen him doze at his desk, almost none.

Originally she intended to call him down to eat, but he seemed very tired, so she let him sleep.  Luxstay pulled the blanket from the bed and gently covered him.

When she was about to go, Emma suddenly grabbed her hand, and he slowly opened his eyes.

Luxstay was startled by him, she stammered:

"Sorry… sorry, did I wake you up?"

"No. Let's go. Don't make our mother wait too long."

Emma replied coldly, after finishing his words, he stood up and strode out.

His figure quickly disappeared from her sight, Luxstay on the contrary was still standing in the same place, it took a few minutes for her to move.

Only heaven knew the moment Luxstay touched his hand, in Emma's heart, there was a warmth that was hard to put into words.

Emma and Luxstay sat opposite Madame, a table of three people was still a bit empty.

"Daughter-in-law, you should eat a lot, don't let your body weaken."

Madame said while taking a lot of food into her bowl.  Luxstay looked at a table of food in front of him and couldn't help but feel bored.

Again, not wanting to disappoint Madame, she reluctantly ate each grain of rice happily.

Suddenly Madame called out a sound that almost made Luxstay choke on rice.

Emma put down his chopsticks, respectfully said:

"Yes, mother."

"You and that girl named Mary seem to be very close?"

Luxstay's eyes could not help but droop, her throat inexplicably bitter.

 "She is…"

At that moment, Luxstay couldn't stand it anymore, blatantly interrupted Emma's words:

"Mother, it seems you have misunderstood.  Mary… she is my cousin, she and Emma are completely pure.  Don't blame him wrongly."

Finally, Luxstay regretted it very much. Why couldn't she just let Madame expose him. What did she do?  But in the end, she was still soft-hearted.

This meal made her afraid that she couldn't continue, Luxstay said:

"Mom, I'm tired, I'll go to my room first."

Emma also stood up:

"Mom, I also ask you for permission."

Madame sighed, raised his head and asked the housekeeper who was standing next to him:

"Is it right or wrong for me to do this?"

"Madam, you don't need to blame yourself. You just want the best for the young master and the young lady."

Luxstay's footsteps were extremely urgent, she was afraid that she would cry in front of Madame and Emma.

Emma quickly chased after Luxstay, when he reached the stairs he grabbed her hand.

“What are you doing up here?”

 "Why did you say that?"

He chased after her just to ask her this one question?

"I just don't want her to worry about us, don't think too much."

Emma said in a low voice.

"I lied."

 Lied?

 Yes, she was indeed lying.

But what about lying?  From the start, only she deceived herself.  He had no feelings for her, she understood.  But what's the point of understanding?  Weren't she still trying to stick her head in this unrequited love forever?

Before she died, she didn't want anyone to be bothered, especially Madame.  In this life, she could not be filial to her mother in law, just hoping that in the next life she could be compatible and could pay off all her predestined debts.

About Emma, she really just wanted him to be happy and have a peaceful life.  But he… why did he force her over and over again?

Luxstay turned around, mustering up the courage to shout:

"So what do you want me to do?  Say it!"

Her red eyes were like a sharp knife piercing his heart.  Emma gradually let go of her hand, painfully watching her every step staggered, almost helpless.

Her love was strangled by his own hands.

Luxstay, she shouldn't have loved him.

The wind stopped blowing, the snow stopped falling, the dark night fell, the clouds drifted and filled the sky.

Luxstay returned to her room, she closed the door and collapsed on the floor.

Moon that night, couldn't be seen.

The person that night, alone, was embracing the dream of mutual love.

The room was pitch black because Luxstay didn't turn on the light.  She looked down, her eyes moist with tears.

Emma, you were still a person without a heart.
