Chapter 1
Lilith’s POV
My back slammed against the stone wall of the pack house, but I barely felt it. The only thing I could feel was Jax...his hands gripping my hips, his body was solid and warm against mine, and I could feel how hard he was through his clothes.
"Fuck...Lilith..."
“Jax, stop… if my father finds us here…” I gasped, though I wasn’t doing a single thing to push him away.
He wasn’t my mate, but I couldn’t give a fuck...he was here... he was with me...he was the one I wanted.
“...you know he won’t,” Jax responded, growling against my neck, his lips biting softly at the sensitive spot right where my neck met my shoulder.
His hand moved up under my dress, palm rough and warm as it closed over my breast. He squeezed gently, his thumb brushing across my nipple through the thin fabric of my bra until it hardened under his touch. Fuckimg hell, he was good with his hands…I arched into his hand, breath catching.
“The Alpha is in his study, buried in pack reports. He has no idea his daughter is getting pinned against a wall.”
My wolf purred, practically clawing at my ribs to let him deeper.
“...And you, the Beta’s son, are supposed to be watching the borders,” I breathed.
“Let the borders burn,” Jax muttered.
“Jax…” I whispered against his mouth.
He didn’t answer. He just kissed down the side of my neck while his other hand slipped lower, fingers hooking into the waistband of my panties. He dragged them down just enough to slide his hand inside, his fingers curling in the 'come here' motion that made me almost scream.
"Oh yes…oh yes...Jax...you're going to make me scream…"
I gripped his shoulders tighter, my hips moving slowly against his hand as he touched my already dripping slit.
“Say it,” Jax commanded, his forehead resting against mine, his chest heaving as he drove deeper into me. “Tell me you’re mine tonight, Lilith.”
“Jax…oh goddess... I'm yours...all yours…” I gripped his hair, his breath hitching as he lined himself up ready to push his cock into me... I wanted it... I needed it...
Suddenly, we heard the loudest, most deafening explosion that shook even the foundation of the pack house. The stone wall behind me vibrated, sending dust into the air.
Someone howled loudly, and my heart sank...that was the signal for invaders...our pack borders...had been breached? I turn to look at Jax, the lust slowly leaving my eyes...
Jax froze with his hand still between my legs. His eyes went sharp and clear in an instant. He pulled his hand from my dripping cunt, yanked my dress back down, and shoved me toward the shelves.
“Stay here, Lilith. Don’t move.”
He drew his blade and kicked the doors open.
He had to be fucking kidding me... i would definitely not be staying back there, hiding like a fugitive.
I followed him to the door, fumbling with my ruined dress, my hands shaking so badly I could barely pull it down.
I opened the door after him, just in time to see a massive warrior in black armor stepped into the corridor, grabbed Jax by the throat, and drove a jagged blade straight through his chest.
Blood poured from Jax’s mouth. His body went limp and dropped hard at my feet. He was dead... Jax was fucking dead...
The warrior’s eyes lifted and locked on mine with a crucked smile.
I turned around and ran, but before i could make it three steps, the warrior grabbed me and threw me to the ground.
The weight of the warrior was crushing me, as he pinned me to the ground, his gloved hand trying to forcefully throw my legs open.
My already bleeding back scraped against broken branches and gravel as I struggled beneath him...
I knew he was only letting me move underneath him because he liked the feel and sounds of my struggling and begging.
“please, dont do this... please!!! Get off me! I'm begging you... please leave me alone” I screamed, shoving at his chest, but he was too strong.
"Alpha's daughter... I've heard so much about you... I've dreamt about fuckimg your little cunt and seeing what the fuss is all about. Look at you begging for my mercy..." the warrior said as he grunted, doing his best to try my legs open with his thighs as his hands grabbed the fabric of my dress and ripped it down in the middle.
Cold air touched my exposed chest even as I fumbled to grab the ruined dress and keep him from seeing my exposed body.
TWACK!!
A blnding slap covered my face. My ears rang as white dots filled my vision.
"Not so mouthy anymore, huh? Bitch" he teased, laughing as punched my stomach.
His hands were everywhere, rough and desperate, grabbing at my torn clothes like this was just another prize of war.
“Please…” My voice broke. “Please don’t.”
He laughed under his breath, pinning my wrists above my head with one hand while the other dragged down my thigh. My heart slammed so hard against my ribs I thought it would burst.
I was bleeding already. My lip. My side. My head. I didn’t even know from what anymore.
The pack house was burning behind us. My people were dying. And I was about to be defiled on the same ground they were slaughtered on.
Goddess, just let me die.
I thrashed again, kicking, scratching, but he slammed my wrists harder against the dirt.
“Hold still, you cunt, i need to taste an alpha's daughter at least once” he muttered.
Tears blurred my vision. My wolf snarled inside me, but I was too weak. Too shocked. Too afraid.
I closed my eyes, already prepared for it to happen and be over with, but suddenly, he stopped touching me. I could still feel him on me, but he stopped moving completely.
I opened my eyes to see why and from the corner of my eye, I saw him.
Alpha Cassian. The bloodthirsty, powerful leader of the Wolfsbane pack and the cause of the deaths of all my pack members.
I would have thought he was handsome if i had not seen him slaughtwr the Beta of my pack in cold blood. Now, all I could think of was how repulsive and bloodthirsty he was.
He stood a few feet away, staring at the warrior on top of me... watching.
Fucking watching.
His face was calm. Blank. Like this was nothing. Like I was nothing.
For a second, our eyes met and my heart stopped. Would he order them to finish me off instead? Would he ask them to spare me? To save my life?
I watched him, begging him with my eyes to save me. He didn’t move from where he leaned, didn't even say anything...
Instead, he turned around, and walked away.
Something inside me broke.
So this was it. This was how I died. Defiled, raped and then murdered?! I was not even worth stopping for. I closed my eyes again and waited to the inevitable to come.
Then his voice cut through the air.
“Leave her.”
The warrior on top of me froze. And my eyes flew open again.
Alpha Cassian didn’t look back as he spoke again, his tone flat and uninterested. “We came for war. Not that. Move.”
The warrior cursed under his breath but immediately pushed off me. Just like that.
I rolled onto my side, gasping for air. My body was shaking so badly I could barely feel my fingers.
The warrior shot me one last look before running back toward the fight.
I didn’t wait for him to turn back and still find me there.
I scrambled to my feet and ran.
I didn’t look back. I didn’t think. I just ran through smoke and bodies and blood until I heard the distinct cry of a baby.
My heart sunk because i knew exactly what that meant.
I knew I was supposed to be running as far away as I possibly could, but I just could not leave without checking...so I followed the sound of the baby and found him lying beside his mother’s dead limp body, crying weakly, her blood soaked into his tiny clothes.
My chest tightened and I dropped to my knees beside him.
“Oh goddess…” My hands trembled as I lifted him. He had a deep cut on his head and blood matted his soft hair. His mother’s eyes were still open, staring at nothing.
I swallowed the scream rising in my throat.
“It’s okay,” I whispered, even though nothing was okay. “I’ve got you.”
He clung to my torn dress like he understood me.
I pressed him against my chest and forced myself to stand.
My pack members were dead…
Raped, and their bodies were burning.
I had not even gotten a chance to see my father since the war began at the crack of dawn. I scanned the bodies on the ground slowly... He was not amogst them. I knew he was still alive because i could still feel him through the pack link.
I scanned the ground littered with bodies searching for anyone who was still breathing, but instead, I saw him.
Alpha Cassian.
He stood at the centre of the slaughter that was still happening. His shirt was soaked in blood. None of it looked like his.
He looked like he belonged in the middle of death.
I watched as he locked eyes with someone I couldn’t see and then he gave the smallest nod. My heart sank to my ass as I heard the wave of a sword as it cut someone's throat, and just like that, I felt the snap in the pack bond.
Alpha Cassian had ordered the death of my father.
My father’s wolf howled in pain and then there was silence...The connection was gone...My father was dead...And his killer was smiling.
A sob tore out of me before I could stop it. Alpha Cassian's head snapped in my direction as he began to move towards me.
“Run,” my wolf whispered urgently inside me.
“But my dad…” I choked.
“Run, Lilith.”
I tightened my hold on the baby I was still holding and turned.
And I ran.
Chapter 61Aurelia’s POVThe chamber of the High Sanctuary quiet, so quiet it was suffocating, except for the soft, rhythmic hum of liquid gold swirling within the wide obsidian basin before me.I stood with my palms resting on the cool, dark stone rim, my fingers trembling slightly. For nineteen years, this scrying pool had given me nothing but cold gray shadows, bitter silences, and the hollow echo of a mother’s unending grief. Now, the water burned bright. It has life, it made more meaning. Through the eyes of Commander Corvus, standing at the edge of the northern courtyard, the vision flared into crystalline clarity. The Northern Vane was a dazzling, beautiful place of rough granite, frost-dusted timber, and towering stone ramparts built to withstand centuries of ice and iron. Fifty pack warriors surrounded Corvus’s small party, their broadswords drawn, their heavy wolf fur cloaks snapping wildly in the biting mountain gale.My heart hammered against my ribs, an ache so raw and
Chapter 60Lilith’s POV"Am I okay Cassian? Are you sure I didn't ruin everything? "Shhhhh. Its okay my lady, Master Vane is come, I am sure there is a better explanation to earlier..." while he was still.speaking, Master Vane's iron staff clicking haggedly on the rough stony floor, put the entire in the casstle into absolute dead silence. The high, sharp ringing of Master Vane’s iron staff against the flagstones was the only sound that pierced the roar of the dying blaze."Step away from the perimeter, Alpha!" Vane’s gravelly voice bellowed through the smoke, his sightless eyes fixed unerringly on the pulsing column of solar heat. "She is in feedback! The celestial line is drawing back through her own body; if you do not break the circuit, the fire will consume her from the inside out!"Cassian didn't hesitate. He reached down, wrapping his heavy arms completely around my waist, lifting me clear off the scorched dirt."Vane, tell me what to do!" Cassian roared, holding me tigh
Chapter 58Lilith’s POVThe white-hot celestial fire roared like an angry beast, the heat so intense that the stone cliffs beneath my boots groaned and began to liquefy into glowing slag. Dry brush along the eastern ridge ignited in a blinding chain reaction, throwing towering plumes of white smoke into the cold morning air."Pull back! Fall back from the boundary!"Brandon’s frantic shouts echoed down from the eastern watchtower as pack warriors scrambled down the wooden ladders, their faces scorched black, their heavy iron shields glowing red-hot from the sheer proximity of the solar blaze."I can't stop it!" I gasped, my voice swallowed by the deafening crackle of burning ozone. I slammed my hands together, trying to force the light back into my chest, but every pulse of my panic only fed the inferno, sending violent lances of golden fire shooting fifty feet into the sky.Suddenly, a massive shape tore through the smoke.Cassian didn't hesitate. He didn't draw a blade, and he didn'
Chapter 57Lilith’s POVThe morning air carried the sharp bite of early autumn, frosting the glass-pane windows of the high keep. I needed to get away from the heavy oak doors and stone corridors, away from the silent, watchful sentries Cassian had posted along every castle wall since our visit to the archives.I walked down toward the lower village tucked behind the fortress wall, where the pack’s winter crops sat in neat, dark rows. The frost had hit the lower fields hard last night. Row after row of sweet barley and winter rye lay limp, withered into brittle, blackening husks against the mud. Master Brandon had mentioned at supper that if the cold held on any longer, half the grain stores would be lost.I stopped at the edge of the field, my heavy wool mantle whispering against the dirt. I pulled off my leather gloves, exposing my bare hands to the freezing breeze."Let's see what we've got..."Devotion, Master Vane had said. It only responds to devotion.I knelt in the damp soil,
Chapter 56Lilith’s POVI held onto Cassian's hands, sitting through the suffocating silence in the private study above yhe armory. Meanwhile, outside, the northern wind hit the stone walls violently, but inside, only the crackle of the hearth fire broke the tension hanging between us in the room.Master Vane sat across the heavy oak desk, his weathered hands resting flat on an ancient, velvet-wrapped ledger he had pulled from his personal chest. His eyes; milky white with age and blind to the physical world, were fixed precisely in my direction, as if he could see the radiant golden light humming beneath my skin clearer than anyone else.Cassian stood up, walked towards the hearth, leaning his broad shoulder against the stone mantle. His leather tunic was unbuttoned at the neck, his posture deceptively still, but the low, territorial rumble vibrating deep in his chest filled every corner of the room."You summoned me to speak of the celestial grimoire, Lord Alpha," Vane murmured, hi
Chapter 53Aurelia’s POVThe heavy golden incense burned low in the high terrace chamber, its sweet, amber smoke curling upward into the immortal twilight. I stood before the tall arched window, looking out over the endless marble spires of Aethelgard. My father’s words still echoed in my mind like a low, persistent drumbeat. "Think like a sovereign, not just a grieving mother".He was right, much as my blood boiled against the delay. Marching two hundred celestial warlords across the Northern Divide without warning would ignite an all-out war. The wolf packs were territorial, proud, and quick to draw steel against outsiders. If I brought fire and glass to their doorstep, I risked putting my daughter directly in the crossfire of a bloody siege.I needed eyes in the North. I needed to know who held her, what state her power was in, and whether she walked among those wolves as a captive or something else entirely."My Lady."I turned slowly. Commander Corvus of the High Reconnaissance
