It was just past 2AM when I walked through the damn door, the house so quiet it almost felt haunted. Everyone was asleep—should be, at least. But I wasn’t here for everyone. I was here for her. My woman. Tamara.

I'd barely dropped my duffel bag in the hallway when I found myself outside her room. I didn’t knock. I didn’t hesitate. I just twisted the knob and walked in like I owned the fucking place—because I did. And her too. Or so I kept telling myself.

The room was dark, moonlight pouring in through the half-drawn curtains, casting a soft blue glow over the bed. She was curled on her side, facing away from the door, a blanket tucked high up her shoulders. Peaceful. Soft. So fucking soft I felt something twist in my chest.

I shut the door quietly, kicked off my shoes, and walked over to the bed. I sat down slowly, letting the mattress dip under my weight. She stirred a little. I reached out and touched her arm gently. Just a graze. A whisper of skin.
